January 2021 Report (Patreon)
Content
Hello and welcome to the first monthly report of the year! First off, I want to sincerely thank all the new patrons that have recently joined in! I've said in both the 2020 Year in Review and my latest YouTube update that I may be a bit more busy with academic projects this year, but I appreciate all of your support during this time. With that said, there are currently still projects in the pipeline, so I'm going to be detailing some upcoming things here. First off...
Dumb Things to Try with the Famicom Switch Controllers | Things of Interest
I've been thinking of more Things of Interest subjects lately, and this may be the first of more to come if I find myself having less time to work on core videos, since they take up more research, planning and filming! However, I don't want TOI to be seen as a 'lesser' series, but rather mini core videos revolving around simple subjects, and the Famicom NSO controllers were definitely something that fit the bill. So depending on how the year goes, there may be more spontaneous TOI episode ideas that appear in the future, including...
Color TV Game 15 | Things of Interest
Yes, the next Things of Interest video will be about the 'new' oldest thing in my collection, the Color TV Game 15! It won't be a deep dive into the history of the entire series of consoles (as I only have one of them obviously), but just like the episode I've done on the Donkey Kong Game & Watch, I wanted to demonstrate the hands-on experience of a system that most people might've only heard about from the Smash Bros. assist trophy. Footage has already been recorded in this one and as of this post, I'm in the middle of recording the script, so it should be ready to go early February!
Upcoming core videos
Now I want to touch on the two core video ideas I'm currently workshopping, yes you heard that right, two!
The first is the previously mentioned Tetris-themed core video. I still don't want to reveal the exact nature of the video right now, as I feel that might be better saved for when I have some footage ready to show, but it's definitely something fascinating and hardly touched upon before even by Tetris experts. Well, I'm not a Tetris expert myself, but I'm potentially bringing on a friend of mine who's probably a lot better at Tetris than me to take a crack at the subject! I've been wanting to let the cat out of the bag for so long, so despite my academic priorities, I definitely wish that it can be completed before my personal chaos arrives! (But uh, don't quote me on that)
In the meantime, I'm also working on a script for a sequel to my Virtual Boy core video! Seeing as it's been three years since then, and I have a lot more of the Virtual Boy's library in my collection since, I figured now would be a great time to go over them and find more diamonds in the rough. It's definitely not just Wario Land!
I don't know if I've said it previously, but this year in terms of video topics I'll be focusing on all the core video ideas that have popped into my head throughout 2020...if school wasn't in the way. But hey, not my fault that some of the neatest video ideas happened to arrive at the most inopportune of times! Even if video production slows down due to what I mentioned, I'll still be doing these monthly reports to show the progress I've made on videos no matter how large...and maybe also serve as personal updates! So, thanks for sticking around and catch you all again in February!
