August 2022 Report (Patreon)
Content
Goes to show, you never know what the month is gonna throw at you! The one big thing that happened in August is 𝚇̷𝚎̷𝚗̷𝚘̷𝚋̷𝚕̷𝚊̷𝚍̷𝚎̷ ̷𝙲̷𝚑̷𝚛̷𝚘̷𝚗̷𝚒̷𝚌̷𝚕̷𝚎̷𝚜̷ ̷𝟹̷ that I have upgraded from the MacBook Pro I've used since the beginning of university to a full-fledged PC built to handle both gaming and editing. As of writing this my desk setup has definitely changed a bit to accomodate this shift, but migrating all my stuff over hasn't been too big of an issue!
In terms of work, I was mostly recovering from stuff that happened in July. Aside from being lost in Xenoblade, I took a few art commissions and did a little bit of streaming. However, there has finally been a video subject that I am confident to work on right now, both as a reprieve from all the scripts in the backburner and as a test for my new computer setup, but more on that in a bit!
Plus videos
Last month on the Plus channel, we took a look at the Nintendo Anti-Piracy Manual from 2010! I'm a sucker for internal Nintendo documents and would love to cover more of them if it wasn't for the legality of further exposing some of these pieces. This is probably more fair game since it's from 2010 and is available on the Internet Archive, so perhaps there's more where that came from that I can take a look at!
For upcoming topics, I'm planning to take a look at a new pickup of mine: The Wii Fit U Fit Meter! In addition, a member of a local retro gaming community I am in has recently extended invitations to a retro museum of sorts that they are setting up. I might be able to cover it next week and just have a chill showcase of what's on offer there!
Rhythm Tengoku arcade board
I don't have any further updates on the state of the Rhythm Tengoku arcade board aside from what I mentioned in the last report. However, I have since gained a few new leads on what affordable equipment to look for next! So I'm gonna try to get my hands on them when I have the time.
The Famicom Disk System Cleaning Extravaganza
And finally, THIS recent pick-up is what recently brought back my video-planning drive: a combination of both the card cleaner and head cleaner for the Famicom Disk System! This is a lesser known peripheral for the add-on -- so much so that I'm pretty sure the handful of YouTube videos that actually cover the things are exclusively in Japanese. There was a snag or two along the way of me obtaining these items (I'll talk about it in the video), but this is shaping up to be a very interesting thing...to talk about on Things of Interest. Look I tried with that last sentence.
That's it for this report! I just want to close things off with a quick reminder that I am open to messages. You can contact me right here on Patreon or on the Discord server patron channels with any questions you might have regarding any topic! I really really hope I can share new content soon, because being burnt out by getting stuck on multiple projects isn't a lot of fun (hence all the Plus videos!), and I very much need a fresher topic to focus on for the time being, like I did for the Switch Sports accessories video. Some footage recording for the FDS cleaning tools have already taken place, and I hope to continue it soon! Thank you for your patience.
