I would really appreciate some thoughts on an issue I'm having with this one. The question: "Is Bubba drawn too fat here?"

I know that's borderline blasphemous for me to say, but part of me wonders if his sizing and angle just makes him so fat to a point where the appeal is gone? As you may have noticed with time I have incorporated more ridiculous sizes/proportions into my art where many years ago most of the fat would be concentrated in the belly/chest, but my style has evolved a bit past that and I like that! But I do wonder for this particular drawing would Bubba being less blob-like look better? Does his current shape turn you on?

The context for this piece is that Bubba and his partner are attending an award banquet where Bubba is being honored for his College Football success, however he gets stopped at the door because he's unrecognizable because he has gotten too fat.

Hope that context helps. Would really appreciate some second opinions.

Far from it, he’s not at all too big. But, do what you feel is comfortable

Given the storyline, I can see where the thought is coming from. I think I would expect that physically to give me more of a hint if his playing days. A little more dense maybe.

Hey there! There really isn’t such thing as too big as it’s just a matter of perspective, and honestly, Bubba's size is spot on for what you're going for. The size you've given him fits the context perfectly. Seriously, the way you draw your bigger characters is really appealing! Just keep doing your thing, it's absolutely amazing!

For me there's no such thing as too big. I love how you give depth to his big belly in your art.

This is a great size! Nothing wrong with it from what I can tell

Bubba is not too fat.

I can see where you might get the impression he may be too fat, but I do not think so. Your art style is incorporating more fat into itself and not the standard muscle gut combination but pushing the fat where it would store around the body and it's nice. I can see where you want to have some practice with actual fat legs and fat deposits in the arms and how that hangs off him like jelly. You said himself that they never loose mobility so him just being the indomitable hungry beast letting the fat cascade over his body is great for all of us. But as Andrew said, do what you feel is comfortable and profitable in some cases. Trust me. Some people REALLY like that kind of fat. Me included.

Never too fat. We love bubba no matter what 😘

Bubba should evolve as you evolve. You always have room for other characters of other sizes if you like.

I would say there’s no such thing as too fat but I do enjoy the sitting pose drawings at these sizes more than standing. I love unrealistic sizes though and you draw characters that size great!

Never too big!
