So basically he did the sparring to gauge the strength of all the S-ranks. He knew he wanted to prioritise his family, but doing the sparring and finding out all the S-ranks were super strong gave him the confidence that they wouldn't need his help on the raid and he could leave them to do the job. But just to be cautious he used the sparring as an opportunity to slip his shadow soldiers in some shadows, just in case shit went wrong during the raid

The ending of this episode was crazy. That black ant came out of nowhere and ripped that girl’s head off in an instant. We are in deep trouble right now and needless to say, we need Jinwoo lol

Jinwoo put those soldiers in their shadows for protection and surveillance. The same thing he did with his sister in an earlier episode. They're there to protect them and alert Jinwoo if there is any danger to them. Obviously Jinwoo can't be everywhere at once so this is his way of having an insurance plan on people he wants to protect or is interested in. He also has soldiers scouting and protecting the city from any sort of threats. He doesn't have to do any of the heavy lifting anymore. If one of the shadows gets defeated, he will know and then be able to jump into action when he is needed.
