"How could the government not thought through the consequences of killing Whitebeard?" I mean, a review of real life history has examples in abundance that nobody gives the after-effects of toppling a threatening foreign power more than a cursory thought. Like the Navy here there's an assumption that things will naturally settle down into peace as everyone accepts the new reigning authority, but that's rarely the case. Power vacuums inevitably lead to chaos, usually followed shortly by autocracy. A list of the US's involvement in regime change alone would probably break the bounds of this comment box, and recent history has shown that the knock-on effects of removing a hostile-yet-stabilizing force can linger for decades *cough* Saddam *cough*.

Tbf though – without wanting to fully open the can of worms here – the assumption, that (in the case of US foreign policy) those consequential power vacuums time and time again were just unfortunate miscalculations rather than deliberation, is a naive one to say the least

Someone once described to me that the relationship between Shanks and Buggy is like the relationship between Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck. B: “The North Pole is colder!” (Points gun to Shanks) S: “No, the South Pole.” (Points gun to Buggy) B: “North Pole!” (Gun to Shanks) S: “South Pole.” (Gun to Buggy) B: “North Pole!” (Gun to Shanks) S: “South Pole.” (Gun to Buggy) B: “North Pole!” (Gun to Shanks) S: …“North Pole.” (Shanks points gun back to himself) B: “South Pole! Fire!” (Buggy shoots himself in the face)

Congrats on making this far through the absolute behemoth that is the Summit War Saga! Starting from the Sabaody Archipelago Arc all the way to Marineford, it's been a real wild and emotional journey! You're nearly there now, just a little more to go. Let's find out how this all wraps up.

After everything that’s happened at Sabaody, Impel Down, and leading into Marineford, in the end Luffy still lost Ace. He did more than anyone could do and still wasn’t enough. That’ll stay with him for the rest of his life. Thank God for Jimbei being here for him at this time. He really needs a friend right now.

I think the Marines' plan seems badly though out because it kinda failed. The original plan was to cut the live feed before it got too crazy, the only reason Whitebeard was able to shout about the One Piece was the great Captain Buggy-sama livestreaming the whole war after the official feeds were cut.

You know it's serious when Mihawk doesn't want the smoke. He's like "hell nah, you're not paying me enough".

In all honesty, the sad truth is that the Navy probably did have the foresight to think ahead and knew what would become of Whitebeard's territories. But in all likelihood, they would have just chalked it up to "necessary loses" or if the territory was important enough, they would have sent a small force to help/takeover the territory for themselves after dealing the final blow. But on the other hand, they didn't even know if they could win. Maybe what they were saying about literally ALL of their strongest forces being in Marineford to help in the War effort was true and they literally couldn't spare any resources or Manpower to help protect these places? Also, as for Law's intentions and why he saved Luffy, I think you may have missed a bit of crucial information he mentioned when he first appeared during the arc (understandable as you were fangirling out haha). He basically stated that he has a use for Luffy and it would be beneficial to keep on his good side. So he does have some ulterior motive up his sleeve.

do you react to openings?

@ 22:20 Honestly, I don't think Sengoku and Garp were filled with bloodlust like the majority of the Marines. They were too focused on Blackbeard and his crew to really pay attention to how mental the others were getting. Granted I do think they would have chased after Whitebeard's crew, but I don't think they would have let the troops get all crazy like the admirals and other vice admirals were.

I think titles in one piece get overhyped I mean Whitebeard was the strongest but his title was for his prime and ofc it sticked with him until he was old but was he really still the strongest? I think there will be stronger characters to come
