Oda hitting us with the double whammy. Ace's death and then the definitely not sad in any way backstory. At least now we have a better understanding of their bond and what made them into to who they were. Enjoy these backstories for what they are. This is the start of the turning point when the anime becomes more mature and breaks away from the "childish" outlook of the world. Things will become less innocent and much more serious but also so much more epic, badass, cool and emotional! I hope you're prepared!

do you react to openings?

At 43:44, there's a small mysterious detail. why would they censor it, right? Some fans theorize that this might be Luffy’s first dream. a dream he had even before wanting to become the king of the pirates.

at this point in the show, it’s fun to dive into some fan theories which are very common in OP community

Now's not a good time for that since she's just started this flashback. After episode 516 would be the optimal time to react to any movies and openings.

Just a heads up, 498 and 499 are mostly filler eps. I say "mostly" because there is some small bit of canon material in those episodes. Most people I've seen react to the filler regardless. I'm pretty sure you won't mind watching the filler either, but I figured I should let you know anyway just in case. And btw you're totally right about Sabo's father having Brook's voice, it's the same actor :)

Right-Hand Man

The scene with them exchanging sake and becoming brothers always gets me 😭.
