Right-Hand Man

Dadan’s reaction and feelings towards Garp’s decisions is literally everyone’s reaction and feelings. The majority of people can’t fathom the reason why Garp didn’t save Ace. Dadan simplified it as choosing his career over his family which is essentially true by all counts but we as the viewers know there’s more to it. Unfortunately, it doesn’t matter how much you try to understand Garp’s character and his decisions because our feelings about it will always win out. There is no excuse, no understanding, and no compromising about it. Garp should have saved Ace. That’s the bottom line 😒

I AGREEEE aaaa it's so :(

garp doesnt have to be pro-pirate, he just has to be anti-capital punishment. garp's inability to save ace wasn't at marineford only, it really started when he couldn't answer Ace that Ace shouldn't question his own life. garp also in some way fated Ace by allowing this question of Ace's life to persist.

Right-Hand Man

Ace and Luffy would never blame Garp for his decisions that’s for sure. It’s not about being mad because we all understand to an extent in why he made the choices that he made. But just because we can understand doesn’t mean it was the right decision.

also jimbei in the manga doesn't tell luffy to "bottle up" his feelings but instead to "fight" the feelings of despair and remember what he still has

angeliccsin

i will NEVER blame garp for not helping. remember, garp is the only one with the title the legendary hero of the navy. imagine what the world will think if he went against his career, the navy, his entire life. people would lose trust in the navy. if the legendary hero of the navy went against his job, they would think "anyone else will and can."

Nightmare

Kenneth Forbes it would be good if the people lost trust in the marines becuse they enable the celestial dragons to stay in power ! and killing mothers and children just to find Rogers Child! why shold Garp support such an organisation he should had joined his son and the revolutionaries ,it would be much better if the people would support the revolutionaries and overthrow the govenment and create a new marine that is not corrupt by helping the marinnes Garp actually makes it harder for dragon to overthrow the celestial!

Ben Green

The cross Makino did to ace when she says boo is an attack he uses earlier in the series he learned it from her
