To answer some of your questions, Shemar Moore decided to leave to pursue other projects. I’m not exactly sure if Damon G. (Steven) was fired or left on his own terms. The new actor is from that back-door pilot episode they had back in season 10 ( Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders). That series was cancelled after 2 seasons and they decided to bring him over to this show.

Yeah, from what I know, Damon had something else he wanted to do or something? He wasn't fired.

I love Monica. I mean, it's Tracie Thoms, of course I love her. But it would be so easy and understandable for her to blame Emily or the BAU. It wasn't their fault of course, but it would be so easy to put that blame on them. He was in the FBI for a long time and he survived it all, then he joins the BAU and within not even a year he's dead. It'd be an easy connection to make. It hurts, I loved Stephen, but part of me loves that they killed one of the team instead of just repeating the same old story of them leaving when the actor wants to leave. It's something they haven't done before. I mean, sure, they killed Gideon, but he had been off the team for years at that point. It was different. I love Matt Simmons. He's from Beyond Borders, which I actually enjoyed. It was different, we got to see lots of different countries and the team was different, with different roles, it was interesting, I would recommend. And I love Daniel Henney (the actor) he's so funny. He and MGG have known each other since before Criminal Minds started, they were models at the same time and knew each other through that. Daniel participated a lot in Matthew's Unauthorised Documentary videos in s15 and that was fun. As much as I love Stephen, this version of the team now is my equal favourite with the s2-5&7 team. I adore Luke, Tara and Matt, and I really enjoy the dynamic between the 3 of them and the dynamic between them and all the others. Reid's PTSD this episode makes me so sad, but I always enjoy watching it because unfortunately like every other time a character is severely traumatised, they don't put much focus on it in the future... But him knowing he'll kill Scratch immediately, and the fact that he does immediately shoot at him the second he sees him, kinda makes me sad. Like, I wanted Scratch dead too, but that's too close to premeditated murder for his comfort I think... Then him throwing the book. That's what gets me. He scared Penelope, he never scares Penelope! And him blaming himself for if anything happens to Emily because he took so long to figure it out. Also, him standing at Stephen's funeral a little longer and just staring at the coffin breaks me. He spent most of the time Stephen was on the team in prison, and we know Stephen went to visit him despite not knowing him very well, and he worked so hard to help clear his name. It must be so hard for him to know that he is now never going to really get to know this man who helped him so much despite barely knowing him. JJ saying about how Stephen gave her the front seat! 😭 Oh, JJ! It hurts so much. That would be something you'd fixate on. Just that knowledge that had things been slightly different, everything would be different. That survivors guilt. And Will! He loves her so much! I love him so much! 😭 And the fact that Will stayed with Rossi after JJ went to meet with Luke and Monica. Poor Emily! She's so smart and strong though! And her saying about how she loves Jack so she would go even further for him than she did for Declan, and she DIED for that boy. I love her! Then her telling Spence she needs someone she knows is real! 😭 I love them. I truly believe that was a mix of two things. One, she was telling the truth and she did need him in that moment. She and Matt get on, they're friends, but nowhere near on the same level as her and Reid. But I also think Matt may have mentioned something about Reid being there and not in a great place and she knew that was a good way to keep him away from Scratch and trouble. I love Luke just letting Scratch fall to his death. Not even trying to help him. Just watching as he falls. (Also, yes, Luke is a superhero. That is why he was uninjured from the crash. Really, it was probably just where he was sat in the car. But actually, he's a superhero and we love him!!) He is just the best though. First everything last season with him threatening Shawn for Spence, and following through on the threat, comforting Penelope about Spence, being there for JJ earlier in the season after that awful arson case, and now talking Spence through his PTSD, comforting Penelope when she found Stephen, being there for Monica when she saw Stephen's body, and letting Scratch die. That man is just the best! (Plus, he's hot!!) Killing Tara in the same episode as they killed Stephen would've been TERRIBLE of the writers. Not just because killing Tara would be awful because I love her, or because of the whole killing two main characters thing. But had they killed both black members of the team, that would not have looked great... 😬 So for many reasons, I am very glad they didn't. I'm also really glad that her waking up gave them more information because she'd seen Scratch take Emily and dose her. Idk, I just always like when a main character has been unconscious in hospital and them waking gives more information instead of them just having to be told everything. I just want to add. SPENCER WAS STILL IN HIS DAMN ARRAIGNMENT SUIT THIS EPISODE!!! HE HAS LITERALLY JUST GOT OUT OF PRISON!!! 😭 Luke was right about him not having had time to process. Considering he's literally still in the clothes he wore leaving Prison and immediately had to go to another prison to play Cat's game to save his mum, then immediately had to jump back into action to help find and save Emily because basically the whole team was down due to an ambush that literally killed an agent!! 😩
