Dutch planetarium coloring page + step-by-step scans (Patreon)
Content
Hello everyone!
This coloring page is inspired by the beautiful façade of the Royal Eise Eisinga Planetarium, home to the oldest working planetarium in the world, built in the 18th century right inside a living room!
A fun fact: the model of the solar system still runs entirely on a system of gears and a pendulum clock, accurately showing the movement of the planets to this day.
For this piece, I gave extra attention to the brickwork. Instead of using a single wash, I painted each brick by hand. It took a lot of time, so there are fewer step-by-step scans this time, as most of the work was in that slow, repetitive process. It’s very therapeutic :-)
The colors I used for the bricks are Burnt Sienna, Earth of Cyprus (dark brown), Yellow Ochre, and Indian Red. The brush I used is a flat one, size 4, which is ideal for creating bricks. Tip: draw some horizontal guidelines in pencil so your brickwork stays straight.
Have fun coloring!
