Hi everyone,

I ignored this stuff for a long time because I felt you cheat. But after trying it once, I embrace it as a useful tool. Does this look familiar to you? Do you use it too?

Tell me, I am curious to hear your reactions!

I tried it, but after it left a blue unsightly line after use and it wouldn't go away,I left it. 🙃

I use it sometimes, but the most of the time it is not in my mind

My favorite masking fluid is the one made by Sennelier. It is very thin and goes on easily - even fine lines with a brush. AND - it removes easily using your finger in a plastic sandwich bag. I have never thought of masking fluid as any kind of cheating. It is a long respected tool of watercolorists for protecting whites when you need to apply large *smooth* washes over them.

PS - Always suds-up your brush on a bar of soap before using it with masking fluid. It will wash clean easily with soap and water..

Not a blue brand, but I’ve used the white ones. It’s fun sometimes- nice to have in your toolbox. You can be just as “painterly” with it as a color - then you have an opportunity to go back and play with that space.
