WIP Wednesdays -Paige and Derick angst (Patreon)

Hey everyone today's WIP is coming from a story I have worked off and on with for a few years now on tumblr called Lovely Conflict which was started with friends of mine Vicky and Maddie. 

Paige and Derick were the characters I was responsible for in the story. Their love story was a 'Beauty and the Beast' style narrative <3 One day I'll probably write their entire story into 1 novel once I get proper permission from my friends to pull a Justin Timberlake ehehe 

in the meantime here is a scene of angst:

Derick lay staring at his ceiling thinking of Paige. He grabbed his phone off the bedside table intent on texting or calling her only when the screen came to her contact page, he felt deflated. No, he couldn’t just call or text like this. Not the way things had ended between them... It would be too inappropriate.

He’d promised to let her live her life.

The problem was of course that he still wanted to be part of that life and have her in his.

But it couldn’t happen now; it was impossible.

Derick closed his eyes for a few moments, stressed, before torturing himself with looking through the pictures on his phone of them. There weren’t many –and that too broke his heart. They’d been a part of one another’s lives for so short a time and yet it still felt as though he’d lost a huge part of his life when they’d parted ways.

He wondered whether she thought of him every day or whether she was so upset that she couldn’t. Perhaps either anger or frustration or sadness kept her from letting him pass across her mind the same way she did for his. 

He felt miserable.
