I am too in love with the TV series Lethal Weapon right now and then I got an amazing email today stating that SSN 3 was added to Netflix. Belated bday present to me or something?! I thought they only were ever going to have 2 seasons (don't ask me why I though that I have no evidence lol)

But anyway I wanted to do a Riggs and Murtaugh one-shot for awhile and this news pushed it over the edge for me today!

Unfortunately my schedule didn't allow me to start this until late Wednesday evening and I finished at approximately 12:05 AM on Thursday haha oops!

I hope you enjoy and I hope I captured the duo correctly. As I was writing I realized that it felt natural for Riggs to always call Roger by his first name but that Rog never seems to call his partner by anything other than 'Riggs'!  Huh. Maybe I am picking up a lot more from the cadence of the show than I realized initially...

ENJOY!

“This morning, I found a woman in Riggs’ trailer in-his-arms,” Murtaugh exclaimed slowly to Avery to express his surprise.

“Really? And...did you ask him about her?” The Captain responded trying to be matter-of-fact.

“No, I didn’t get a chance. I was a bit, uh, embarrassed and judging by the fact that he didn’t actually see me—”

“Wait what? Were you spying on Riggs?!”

“No! He just didn’t respond to my text or my call and Bailey said he wasn’t here so I went by his trailer to check on him.”

“And then you saw him with a woman in his arms in his trailer?”

“Yeah they were both asleep it seemed and then I think maybe they must’ve heard something—”

“Like you—”

“Like me and he was muttering something soft to `er so I quickly got out of there to respect my partner’s privacy.”

“And not look like an idiot,” Avery added on –teasing softly.

“Anyway so now I don’t know what I should do. He’s going to know something’s up; I don’t know how I’m going to keep my cool.”

“Maybe you should ask Cahill,” The Captain suggested.

“No with all that patient-doctor-confidentiality I doubt she’ll be allowed to talk to me.”

“Then it looks like you’ll just have to talk to Riggs—” Avery shrugged.

“I was afraid you were gonna say that,” Roger muttered dejectedly as he exited the office.

The young brunette felt safe. She felt calm. Though what was going on made her a bit upset and nervous, lying against Martin Riggs was keeping those negative feelings at bay. It had done so all night.

She awoke to his slight movement and the feeling of his arms around her. “Mmm...”

“Sorry darlin’,” he muttered apologetically.

“`sss alright. Everything okay?”

“Oh, yeah. Thought I heard somethin’. Everything’s fine. You can go back to sleep.”

“No, no it’s alright,” she mumbled then yawned. “I should use your bathroom anyway. You do have one in here right?” The two chuckled.

A short while later, she sat with a blanket around her on his chair while he cooked up some eggs and toast. “I’m sorry I don’t have sausages or something like that,” he apologized and saw her shake her head.

“I don’t really like sausages anyway... Well, not breakfast sausages anyhow. No worries Marty. Sorry, Martin. Er—”

“Marty is perfectly fine. Or Martin. Or hey you!” he joked and she laughed.

“Thanks for this you’re really the best.”

“I don’t do this for just anybody...”

She grinned as she accepted the plate of food.

“Naw I’m serious, I really don’t—” he responded honestly.

“Actually, I gauged that. So, thank you. Thank you for all of this actually it means so much.” She gestured around her with her fork before starting to eat.

His face softened. “Don’t mention it; it’s nothing.”

Roger tapped his fingers against the steering wheel nervously. Any second now Riggs was going to see right through him.

His partner had met up with him just outside the crime scene and the two were pursuing a hot lead within minutes of arrival.

Details recapped again in the car, the two now sat in silence as Murtaugh drove trying to think of how to bring up what he knew in the best way possible.

“So, uh... you had the morning off?”

“Mm? Oh. Not really. But you know me I hate the morning meetings Benson has put together recently. Not ma thing...”

“Ah. Right...”

“Actually I had something to take care of,” Riggs offered on his own, “Or, someone I should say.”

“You finally took that dog in for his flea shot and all that?” Roger tried.

Riggs chuckled. “No, no. Uh actually I have someone staying with me for awhile. That’s why I didn’t respond to your text –I know that bothers you. But my phone was on silent for most of the night so that it wouldn’t wake her up.”

“Her? Oh! Oh really? Oh wow Riggs.”

“Oh c’mon Roger shuddup!” he laughed softly. “Now you’re making this awkward.”

“No, no. I don’t want you to feel ashamed or embarrassed by the fact that you had a woman over to your trailer last night. That’s... that’s good for you and that’s...your business,” the detective tried to assure despite the fact that even before Riggs had brought it up it hadn’t been just his business, “If you’re starting to move on or to...explore—”

“Rog I really am gonna need to stop you there,” Riggs interjected, “this has nothing to do with Miranda. I’m still being faithful to her. No, the guest staying at my house is my cousin down from Canada.”

“Wait, what!?”

“Don’t act so surprised. It’s a long story one I’ll get into a bit more later but she’s my younger cousin down here for a couple weeks, probably.”

“Look and I don’t mean to be disrespectful Riggs but just because you’re from The South doesn’t mean—”

“What in the hell are you talkin’ about?” Riggs pressed with concern and confusion. “Oh wait now I think I get it! You’re just bein’ ignorant with a damn stereotype. I thought you were better than that Roger!”

“Well what the hell else am I supposed to conclude when you two are asleep arms around each other on your couch?”

“What? What did you say?”

Murtaugh wished he could take it back. He cringed.

“Wait you saw us together? What are you spyin’ up on me now?”

“I... Well the thing was— You hadn’t responded to anything even when I said the donuts had rum filling at the meeting and I thought that was suspicious—”

“That the donuts had a rum filling at the morning meeting?”

“Yes—no, no that was something I made up to get you to call me. No you didn’t respond at all and I hadn’t heard from or spoken to you in over sixteen hours so I decided to come and check up on you.”

“I was fine Roger; I am fine.”

“Yes I know and I’m sorry! I thought something might’ve happened. I didn’t realize you had a guest. I didn’t mean to intrude on you I just saw through the window. And then I left.”

Both were silent as Riggs processed this. “Ah. So that was you then.”

“You saw me?”

“Naw but I heard somethin’. Thought it was the dog. Or another wily beach creature.”

There was a small bit of silence.

“Look so that you’re not all weirded out she’s a bit under the weather and my blanket situation kinda sucks at the moment; it wasn’t doing the trick for her. And she couldn’t stop shivering and shaking. I’ll tell you more later but we decided to share the blanket so that she could keep warm against me and so her mind would be off of what’s goin’ on with her.”

“Oh. I...see... I’m sorry, Riggs. I shouldn’t have—”

“Jumped to a conclusion? No you saw the evidence in front of you and made a call about it and when I said she was my cousin it freaked you out. I can understand.”

Roger let a bit more silence pass as they turned onto the street they were headed for. “So where is your cousin now?”

“I left her with some cans of chicken soup and my dog. She loves the dog.”

“Does she?”

“She seems to,” Riggs smiled, “Anyway I think they’ll be good for the day. She’s got my number if she needs me. And right now it’s you Roger who needs me.”

“Now don’t go getting all sentimental—”

“I mean look at that door. We’re gonna have to kick it down,” Riggs amended as he gestured at the scene before them.

“Oh! Right! Duty calls,” Roger muttered as he pulled the car to a stop and the two got out and drew their weapons.

Another day on the job for Riggs and Murtaugh.
