One Shot Wednesdays -Captain America; Immortal? (Patreon)
Content
Okay so I had 2 more serious prompts from friends since my last One-Shot Wednesday but then I read this tumblr post and well I couldn't help my fingers typing madly down a scene between my OC and Steve Rogers; Captain America. It's sorta self-indulgent in that way and IDK writing counts as writing lol but I hope you find some interest or enjoyment anyhow!

“You haven’t aged a day since I met you,” I commented as I ran my finger delicately down Steve’s cheek.
He chuckled. “Oh c’mon now.”
“No I’m serious,” I insisted. “You’ve not got a line or age spot or jowls or anything!” I mused.
“Honey we’ve known each other since you were about twenty four. It’s 2023 now and we’ve known each other now for over eleven years. Of course I’ve changed!”
I laughed at Steve’s insistence but I was quite convinced. “Steve you have the ‘Super-Soldier-Serum’. I’ve seen your file and you know it better than anyone. Erskine confirmed you’d have cellular regeneration. And you have it. Your body is physically no older than when you came out of the... what did we decide to call it casket? Tanning bed?” I teased. He laughed with me at that. “I have to face it: I’m a thirty-five year old woman married to an eternally twenty-five year old immortal...”
“You have gotta be kidding me! That makes me sound like those vampire novels you read—” he complained mildly.
“No I’ve got it better than those heroines,” I countered as I pulled closer.
“Oh do you?” he mused.
“Yes I do,” I responded plainly without room for argument. “Anyway now that we’ve made it truly weird...” I trailed off with a giggle.
“Hey you’re the one that brought it up,” Steve countered as he tapped my nose ever so gently with his forefinger.
He was right... I shrugged.
“Hey now give me some credit. I’ve probably aged a little. Like it’s possible I’m twenty six now.”
“Oh coz a year makes a difference!” I began laughing again.
“With men you know as well as me that it can make all the difference in maturity,” he joked. I shook my head with amusement.
“Can we just appreciate the fact that I’m blessed to have you looking like this for like ever?”
“Is it a huge factor for you?” he asked with some amusement but something in his eyes told me that he was having reservations about my statement.
I pulled him closer. “It’s not huge. If tomorrow you got hit by Bruce’s gamma rays and went back to being what you were like before I knew you or if you suddenly aged the eleven years I wouldn’t care. I’ve got who I need right in here,” I told him as I pressed my hand to his heart.
He’d never told me that Erskine had done something similar back in the 40’s as he’d lay dying.
I saw Steve smile a little at this response from me.
“But in the meantime I have the memory of you looking just as bright-eyed and bushy-tailed as the day we met. It’s kinda...comforting. You’ve been a constant figure in my life since then and I know no matter what you will be no matter what you look like. And when I get tired of dragging my feet around you can piggy-back me,” I joked again as I peppered his cheeks with kisses.
I treasured the laugh that issued from his mouth at that. “C’mon then my love,” he murmured as he scooped me up in his arms and stood up.
Later that night he’d confess to me that he was jealous to think that my face and body would change; would always show off laugh lines and had changed to show the things we’d been through like grief and love, and starting our family a couple of years ago with the birth of our son.
It was hard to know how to counter that with any argument of reassurance. I’d never ever thought of it that way.
