Hey everybody first things first apologies that this was published so dang late! Honestly I thought today was Tuesday for some odd reason and normally I queue up something for Wednesday on Mon or Tues so it's ready to go and then well here I was like OH. OH NO. lol

Anyone remember True Blood? Friggen loved that show (for most seasons). Anyhow I thought I'd share an old one-shot thing I wrote using the inspiration of the character of Godric from that show <3 I probably wrote this in 2009 or 2010. So if you can spot how my writing has improved since then well then I'll take the compliment <3 Hope you enjoy -I've NEVER shared this with anyone until today!

Love, Britt xoxo

When I looked up again, there was Godric, standing several feet away –presumably so as not to scare me with his sudden arrival. I ran up to him immediately. “Godric!”

I was very happy to see him again after so long. “Hi!”

“Hello.”

“What’re you doing here so early? Come to walk me to my bus?”

“Yes I suppose so,” he answered.

I unconsciously picked up my pace realizing how slow I’d been going before. “Sorry I don’t want to be late,” I explained quickly. “So you mean to tell me you came all this way just for that?”

“You thought of me last night,” he stated as point of fact.

“Oh, um yes.” I remembered now, feeling slightly embarrassed that he knew such things. I’d forgotten his ability to do that; that we were linked. “I was just thinking of how long it’s been since we’ve seen each other and since we’ve visited. I know what we have as friends isn’t exclusive to your time but I was starting to miss you a little bit I guess.”

“Oh,” he murmured, his face revealing the hints of a gentle smile.

“But it’s fine really. Hey why are you out here anyway? It’s starting to get light out,” I declared with concern. “You should be somewhere safe.”

“It’s fine,” he answered, “I just wanted to come and see you briefly and ask about last night before you went off for the day.”

“Well thanks,” I murmured, “I just… I don’t want you to be in danger with the sun about to come up.”

He only smiled gently. “Perhaps I can try and come see you tonight –sometime this evening. Would that be alright?”

“Yes,” I replied, “but please don’t make it a point of importance I’ve always known you have other things to do; more important things to see to. My night is your day –do with it what you will not what you think I would want or whatever.”

“You’re too unselfish,” he professed with a thoughtful expression upon his face. “I should be able to come. Might I have your invitation to do so?”

“Of course,” I consented. The bus stop was now in view across the street.

“I guess I’d better go. Are you sure you’re not in danger? It’s already getting light out,” I repeated.

“It’s already done,” he answered quietly.

“Well see you later then,” I murmured, squeezing his hand in farewell before turning to cross the street.

“Have a good day,” he wished with a gentle smile.

The bus arrived moments after I stood at the stop. I’d looked back to see Godric still on the corner, watching me leave. I wondered why he didn’t just go now.

I as I got on the bus and looked again to the corner, he was there. But as I looked again before sitting down in the first seat, he was gone. I’d rarely experienced that with him –one moment he’s there the next he was gone but I knew he could do that. All vampires could essentially do it –Godric being one of the oldest was certainly and impossibly no exception.

I worried about Godric that day. As the bus took me two blocks and turned against the field, I saw just how light it indeed was. I’d known the sun was soon to come out and daylight was slowly approaching but as I looked out over the flat field to see the sky uninhibited by really any trees or buildings I saw deep purples and pinks etched into the horizon. I prayed he hadn’t mistakenly stayed out with me too long. I also wished desperately that wherever he’d planned to hide from the light that day wasn’t far from where we’d departed. I couldn’t imagine what he’d be feeling if he had to stay out for even a few brief moments in the breaking dawn.
