One-Shot Wednesdays -Hemlock Grove (Patreon)
Content
I just have a lot of feelings, ok? I watched Hemlock Grove last week and finished the series end in Season 3. And it was...like 2 seasons thrust into 1. And it disappointed me the way it ended. Like...they could have had 2 more episodes to flesh things out better but no. And now... -_- well now I have my own fan-fiction in my head. And here is one such fan-fiction. Warning: this contains spoilers for season 3 of Hemlock Grove so if you don't want them don't read this. ALSO LANGUAGE WARNING.
Please leave a comment and/or new prompt for our next One-Shot Wednesdays!

Roman flinched as Peter punched again and again and again. Milan was a piece of shit, sure, but this beating he was getting was undeserved –the crime Peter thought he’d committed Milan was innocent of.
“Stop—” Roman found himself crying out abruptly. “Stop it Peter.” He tried to grab the young man off of the crook and Peter fought back.
The poor guy was hurting deeply; his cousin was missing and all clues pointed to Destiny Rumancek being abducted (and killed) by Milan and his cronies. The guilt Peter felt from not being able to protect her made him angry at himself and angrier still at Milan and so he punched and kicked and tried everything to be able to let out this hurt onto someone else. Only Roman was trying to pull him off now.
“Peter stop! Peter listen to me! Stop! Stop!” Roman exhaled as he grunted and tried to pull his friend free. “He didn’t do it! Listen to me he didn’t fucking do it!”
“HE’S FUCKING LYING ROMAN!” Peter screamed, “He’s a muther-fucking liar!”
“It was me!” Roman admitted, “It was me!”
“Wh-what? What the hell are you talking about?” Peter took a step back and rolled his shoulder which was extremely tense from all of this action. He gazed at Roman, confused and feeling exhausted.
From the floor, Milan coughed out blood then passed out.
“It was fucking me; I did it! I- I- I’m the reason Destiny is missing.” Roman knew there was no going back from this but something in him had pulled him away from the edge of letting the crimes he committed die with this piece of shit on the floor.
“What the fuck are you talking about? What do you mean?” Peter asked testily, gazing at Roman with concern and suspicion.
“Sh- FUCK. She came to my house,” Roman began, running his hands through his long sandy hair to pull it away from his face, “she was accusing me of shit and screaming and yelling and getting angry and I’d... I just couldn’t take it I’ve been so stressed out about Nadia and about— and then she hit me and I lost it; I saw red,” Roman exhaled the truth forgetting now where he was and who he was with as he went on, “I hit her back because how fucking dare she and then she fell and hit her head and I...”
Peter felt himself shaking as the truth came out of his friend’s lips.
“I saw her hit the ground and twitch and then lie still. Annie was there she saw the whole thing and I realized...I realized that all of this was a mess. She begged me to help her help Destiny but she was gone so I dragged Annie upstairs into Nadia’s room and then... Then I took Destiny away because I knew you would never fucking forgive me, Peter.”
“Are you fucking with me right now?” Peter hissed in a low tone of disbelief.
Roman merely stared back at his friend, wordless. His eyes were almost dead; his expression flat.
Peter barely realized himself how he’d already moved and pounced onto Roman, hitting him and getting his hands on him which Roman reciprocated by grabbing Peter too. By the time Peter understood, he was knocking Roman to the ground as the two struggled against each other.
Friends like brothers now the bitterest of foes.
“I’LL KILL YOU! I’M GOING TO FUCKING KILL YOU!” Peter screamed as he fought against Roman trying to do him harm as he’d done to Milan but mere minutes ago now. Peter didn’t realize he was crying; he felt only rage and hatred and pure animal instinct wanting to tear Roman apart for what he’d done.
But Roman wasn’t going to let Peter get the upper hand and he defended himself well against the attack.
Within a matter of a minute or more, Peter grew tired. All of the stress of the last few days, the poor amount of sleep or rest, the adrenaline that had pumped through him off and on in the last week... It was too much for him now and he struggled against Roman who was also a contender in his own right as an upir. With the realization that he couldn’t kill Roman and that he didn’t want to; not entirely, Peter moved to a new tactic with the last of his strength,
“TELL ME WHERE SHE IS! WHERE IS SHE? WHERE— Where the fuck is she!?” he demanded as he got Roman by the collar and shook him.
“Get off me!” Roman countered angrily.
“WHERE IS SHE?” Peter cried again, not accepting the terms.
“I’ll take you! I’ll fucking take you!” Roman agreed. “Just...” He tried to throw Peter off but the other man held on.
They left Milan on the floor; a problem to clean up another time. Right now the priority was Destiny. Whatever fallout came from leaving Milan broken and bloodied on his own dressing room floor would have to be dealt with. But not now. Not now.
Roman took Peter to where he’d laid Destiny’s body. He’d been in such a hurry and a panic that he hadn’t done a very good job at concealing the site. Peter pushed past Roman long before they’d arrived and transformed into his wolf form. He dug out the shallow grave until he saw Destiny’s pale face beneath the loose dirt and at once he was changed back into himself again as he reached down to cradle her and pull her out of this mess.
Roman watched nearby with a solemn expression.
It seemed like ages and yet it wasn’t very long to behold this scene before it unfolded into a new one.
“Sh-she’s alive!” Peter was crying, “She’s alive! ROMAN HELP ME!”
The upir was pulled out of a daze and came forward. He didn’t believe Peter at first; the man was broken with grief he had to be imagining things. But, he wasn’t. Roman soon realized that. Destiny still had a pulse, slow and weak as it might be, and was breathing.
Destiny Rumancek woke in hospital days later with her cousin Peter asleep at her side against the blankets, keeled forward off of his chair.
Her heart rate began racing after a few seconds of disorientation as everything came rushing back to her. She was in such distress that the nurses had to sedate her.
It wasn’t until another day later that she was able to calmly piece everything together and to immediately tell Peter about it; he hadn’t once left her side.
She begged to know where Roman was; had Peter killed him? No, he hadn’t.
Destiny went on to explain her dreams that she’d had; visions of what could have been; what should have been.
She’d seen herself fall to the ground after Roman’s hit, seen Annie beg Roman for help, saw Roman stride forward and break Destiny’s own neck; killing her permanently and burying her out in the woods without remorse. She’d seen Roman manipulate Peter into going after Milan for the disappearance, seen how Roman planted her engagement ring to make Milan look guilty, seen Peter and Roman kill the leader of the Czechs because Roman had descended too far into darkness to care that what he was doing was wrong. She saw Roman tell Peter where to find her body, saw how utterly consumed with grief Peter had become at finding her like that. She witnessed how much it had destroyed him; taken him away from reality. How numb he’d appeared.
She had watched Roman get the good news of finding Nadia’s location, taking Peter along with him to help recover the baby and Miranda –if she was still alive. Destiny saw the discovery of the two that she wasn’t. She watched with disgust as Roman smiled and agreed that Peter was his brother all the while knowing he’d been manipulating him without a thought.
She saw how easily they’d destroyed Spivak and gotten Nadia back only to have Annie confront Peter with the truth and hand him a gun to take out his revenge on Roman.
And Peter did –or at least he’d tried. The gun jammed and Roman took the upper-hand. The two friends now enemies struggled with each other and with the knife Peter had brought to take out Roman’s heart. It had been a hard sight indeed seeing that knife go into Peter’s side and watch him slump to the ground. In an odd twist, Roman seemed careful with Peter’s body; wrapping him delicately in a white sheet and giving him a somewhat more dignified send-off than he’d given Destiny.
But Peter hadn’t died of his wounds and through some guidance spiritually from Destiny’s spirit and help from other wolves Peter had emerged from his grave. He gave himself a little time to recover, knowing that if he turned against the moon one more time he’d be a vargulf permanently.
But in the end of Destiny’s vision, Peter did transform and murder Roman for his deceit and darkness. His fur white now he attacked Roman and after throwing them both out of a window, Peter stood on four legs and ripped out Roman’s throat before tearing his heart from his chest using his large, sharp teeth.
Destiny’s vision ended as she watched Peter’s vargulf form wander the woods; forever trapped.
Sitting in the hospital room beside her, Peter listened to Destiny’s recounting of her visions while she’d been half-dead lying in the ground. He knew being so close to the veil of death would have done something to her, a medium and witch, but hearing her terrible premonitions sent a shudder through his spine.
“Don’t murder him,” Destiny begged her cousin in her soft voice still finding its use again after her trauma and entire ordeal.
“But he...”
“He made a mistake... A huge one, yes. But I’m here. And you lied to me too,” she spoke, now knowing the entire truth of why her fiancé had disappeared and Peter’s hand in it, “by rights I should want to kill you for what you did. But I am not going to. Be mad as all hell, I know I am, but don’t murder Roman. I know now you’re the only thing that can pull him away from the darkness. You need each other to stop the other from falling into madness and darkness. Don’t let that opportunity go, Peter, or it will destroy you both.”
Peter knew Destiny was right, as usual. That’s what you got with a medium-psychic. But she also knew him too well and knew that Peter would fall apart if he let his grief and anger consume him. He knew too that Roman was facing his own demons. They’d faced some together for fuck sakes. And Peter was mad as all hell, as she’d said. And it would take time to get over that; to make any sort of amends with Roman. But he’d have to. He knew that.
So he promised Destiny he would and then the two talked for a few more minutes trying to reconcile to each other now before a nurse came in and interrupted the scene.
