Announcement: Going Forward to Autumn (Patreon)

Here is a rough transcript of the announcement of plans as told in the video: 

Beauty and the Brit is going on hiatus until September, or early October. Last chapter posted until then will be on July 5th: Chapter 10.

Many reasons for this some behind the scenes some reasons I’ve already spoken about previously. Basically it boils down to the fact that this story and my Patreon blog deserves more time than I can currently give both of them to keep releasing content at the rate I have been the last several months.

So I’m going to take a step back from posting so often and focus on getting myself personally and professionally in a better place. My Patreon itself needs restructuring, as I have spoken about in a few previous announcements and videos. I want to spend more time doing that as a priority now. With my current schedule, very little time has been put into reexamining my business model which does need improvement. Why do I want to do this? I want to give quality content to my fans and Patrons but also I want it to be an efficient use of my time. Right now, I’m giving content and putting time into the blog in order for it to be consistent with scheduled content but there’s very little time focused on what Patrons are benefiting from and little time devoted to fans in general. That’s not fair to you, the readers. It’s also not a smart use of my time. I chug along but I don’t bother to look around, so to speak. There needs to be an equal weight of providing content of my work and also interacting with those who get to see my work and who enjoy it!

Furthermore, I am exploring new avenues of places to promote and share my work outside of Patreon, like the official Facebook page I made for my writing on Patreon. As I do this and learn about more places to interact with fans and potential followers, it really is making me look at my previous behaviours and my current scheduling. In doing so, I’m slowly having to redo my daily and weekly schedule for how I operate in getting my Patreon scheduled content out. Soon, it’s no longer going to work efficiently and I foresee months down the road feeling overwhelmed and possibly burnt out.

So in making this decision about what to put on temporary hiatus, I really had to examine my priorities and shift them. So for now, I am stepping back from a few monthly and a few weekly and biweekly things typically featured on my Patreon. This will give me more time to put into my current priorities so that when I come back in fuller force, I will be a stronger content creator and Patreon blogger.

So in summary this is how the next couple of months are going to look at the moment:

Beauty & the Brit on hiatus until September or early October; date of return to be announced closer to that time.

Favourites on Fridays will be scheduled down to once a month until sometime in the fall, date to be announced.

Work-in-Progress Wednesdays will still run but I will focus on putting some Beauty & the Brit teasers in instead of content outside of that novel.

One-Shot Wednesdays will only run on their scheduled weeks if I have been given a writing prompt in advance through tumblr, Patreon or the Facebook page. If not, it may be skipped over with no content/story posted that day unless I got inspiration for something on my own that I wanted to share ^_^ This change to One Shot Wednesdays will go until the fall as well. Date of change back to regular posting to be announced.

Meet the Author Mondays will still go ahead, but will be shorter videos.

Talk About It/Tell Me About It Tuesdays will only contain updates about the changes I’ve made since the month before and the changes I hope to make over the upcoming month. This will go on until October but may be extended.

So basically the only thing that is truly on hiatus is my novel ‘Beauty and the Brit’ but you will see a reduction on all content types for the next couple of months while I work behind the scenes to improve the blog as a whole and branch out to make new connections during this summer and beginning of autumn.

Now what does this mean for Patrons and their pledges? At the moment there are only 4 paid pieces of content per month; two public and two Patron exclusive pieces of content. As the novel goes on hiatus that means 2 paid-for-posts automatically go on hiatus as well. I’ve decided to keep the 2 publicly available pieces of content that are paid by patrons however for the month of August I am going to transition to making one of those instead a special Patron Exclusive not public piece of content whether it be an existing thing I’m doing already (like favs on Fridays) or something a bit new or not as well practiced on my patreon like a livestream or a q&a or a behind-the-scenes look into Beauty and the Brit before it resumes again. I will put out a patron-only poll to get your feedback on what you’d like to have the most for your pledge value! 

Speaking of which, my patreon tiers will be going through slow renovations and upgrades. Like I mentioned earlier, I want patrons to be getting quality content and a good value for their pledge amount and I think I can be doing better on that. So, keep your eyes out for those changes in the next several weeks and further to that keep your eyes peeled for polls that you can vote on for what you’d love to see offered as a reward for signing up as a patron!  You deserve the best and I want to strive to give you all what you’re pining for!
