Hey all! Firstly, sorry I got my dates mixed up and was posting 'WIP Wednesdays' on the wrong Wednesdays hahaha oops. <3Also I apologize for the lack of 'One-Shots' on appropriate days or others but my mind has just not sat down to put something down for speed writing or a one-shot, until today! A few weeks ago (probably closer to a month now), a tumblr follower asked whether I'd write my next one-shot about the movie The Phantom of the Paradisethat we both really love! I said sure but never got around to it until last night my brain got going when it saw a PotP post on tumblr and inspired my speed writing, below!I hope you enjoy and it's not a one-shot that you need to have seen the film to completely understand though it may help just a touch. But, this is kinda fluffy and romantic and I hope you enjoy! (Happy (early) Thursday to those in the PotP fandom!)-Britt xoxo

Winslow never forgot that first hug that Phoenix had ever given him. In fact, the only hug she’d ever given him.He never forgot the feeling of it; the tight and firm hold she had on him and how he’d had to stoop down to properly hug her back. He never forgot the smell of jasmine and a touch of vanilla that came off of her and he often wondered as the months passed afterward whether it was her shampoo, a lotion, perfume or just the smell of her home that was filled with flowers perhaps that had given off that subtle aroma so calming and pleasing to him.He never forgot neither her kindness that day nor her smile as she spoke to him. She’d just met him and already she’d so sweetly hugged him tight to her in response that he said he’d help her; that he thought she was ‘terrific’.He never forgot her humble confidence; that she knew she had the capability to sing and yet was still shy when she had to make sure he wasn’t ‘just being nice’ when he had told her he’d love to help her with getting to sing like the songbird she was.He of course could not forget her physical beauty; that dark hair and those kind eyes that had looked back at him, that sweet and perfect smile. He’d been attracted to her instantly but hadn’t wanted to scare her away by saying so.Thoughts of Phoenix often got Winslow through the difficult days at ‘Sing Sing’ Prison when he felt his rage over the injustices done to him springing up in his chest and threatening to boil over. He remembered those brief moments they’d shared together, and her perfect voice that had sang his ‘Faust’ so wonderfully. And when he remembered all that, he was calmed down just a little. And then he’d wondered what had happened to her and where she was and his sadness and frustration would roll all up on him again until he’d have to break something on the assembly line and be punished for it by the guards.Soon, it became a bit easier for Winslow to control his anger and try to think of Phoenix less. The bruises and battered limbs soon became too much to handle on a daily basis. But he never forgot about her, or that first hug they shared. He’d just drift off to sleep with the memory instead, sometimes clutching the flat prison pillow to him as though it would conjure her and sometimes just sometimes he’d clutch at the empty air and swear he could smell the soft scent of jasmine with a hint of vanilla. Sometimes.
