I've decided to offer you some Halloween styling courtesy of my sequel novel in 'The Lair Chronicles' titled 'The Secret'.

I hope you enjoy!

“What are we gonna be for Halloween?” Shimi asked.

“Well I know what I’m going to be…” Gorgo mumbled.

“What?” Draco asked curiously.

“A Mortal…”

“Really? Ha-ha, what kind of Mortal?”

“Hey Quatre, can I borrow some clothes?” Gorgo asked.

“Ha ha; very funny,” he exclaimed sarcastically. “Only if I can be a vampire –can I borrow some clothes Gorgo?”

“I think Draco’s clothes would fit you better,” he pointed out. “Anyway, I was joking…”

“Well I don’t know what you should be Shimi, but I’ve already planned my costume. I figured I’m going to be Ariel, the mermaid. My hair is pretty much the right color –red anyway. And Draco can be my Prince!” Amara declared.

Draco looked slightly uncomfortable. “Yeah…” he mumbled.

“Prince Eric?!” Shimi exclaimed, “Really, that’s what you’re going to be?” she asked.

“Yeah… ‘Guess so,” he murmured, shrugging.

“The things you do for love,” Gorgo whispered, his grey eyes shifting between them all.

“Oh c’mon, it’s not that bad, is it?” Amara exclaimed, “I thought you said you wanted to do that…!”

“I do,” Draco argued, “I still do… It’s the hairstyle I’m worried about… he’s got a part and it’s all combed to the side… It’ll be interesting…”

“That’s the point of Halloween Draco –you get to be someone you’re not and that includes changing your hair sometimes. C’mere!” she demanded, trying to ruffle his hair around.

“Hey! Mara stop!” he was laughing trying to fend her off. “Wait until the thirty first! Jeeze!”

“I should go as a guy,” Shimi commented, “Quatre, Gorgo, do all guys not like their heads touched?”

“Uh…”

“Let’s see,” she proposed, moving to try and touch their heads. Gorgo dodged and Quatre flinched. “Guess so!” she laughed. “I’m going as a guy then!”

“Oh jeeze,” Gorgo rolled his eyes.

“I’d love to see that actually!” Quatre exclaimed, amused.

“Just kidding! Seriously though, I have no idea what to be this year…” Shimi sighed. “Quatre, what are you being?”

“I haven’t thought about it yet…” he answered, “But I think Gorgo’ll be disappointed if I don’t go as one of you,” he joked.

“I might go as the Phantom of the Opera,” Gorgo piped up, “Quatre can be Christine Daae and you can go as Raoul, Shimi,” he suggested, “Besides, you said earlier this year that Quatre would make a great member of a pop group with me and Drake here…”

“You’re right, though I said Quatre wasn’t cute enough didn’t I?” Shimi giggled, “Though I think you’d make a great Christine Quatre.”

“Why don’t we save this theme for next year and then we can all plan to be characters…” Draco thought aloud. “Sin can be Madame Giry, Quatre –Raoul, Shimi –you and Amara can pick between that Meg girl or that diva woman Carlotta and Christine, Gorgo and I will decide between the Phantom and that guy who gets hanged; the stage manager guy. It would be cool!”

“Yeah, and then we’ll put on the play…” Gorgo mumbled somewhat sarcastically. “I suppose it’s not a horrible idea though…” he determined a little bit more audibly.

“No, it was just a thought. I was sorta joking…” Draco retorted.

“Anyway what’s Sin being?” Amara asked, “Does anyone know?”

“She hasn’t mentioned it…” Draco replied.

“No idea,” Shimi confirmed. “Ooo what about a fairy?” she exclaimed.

“What? Sin?!” Draco blurted.

“No, no! Me, should I be a fairy?”

“Yeah!” Amara agreed excitedly. “You’d be so pretty with all the shimmer and stuff.”

“Whatcha guys think?” Shimi asked.

“Yeah…” Gorgo agreed indifferently.

“Sure,” Quatre smiled.

“Alright well mine’s gonna be a surprise then,” Gorgo mumbled. “Partially because I have no idea. Though I do like the idea of going as you Quatre. That would most definitely be interesting…”

“No kidding,” Quatre agreed quietly. “Anyway Draco tell me how you know so much about Phantom of the Opera…”

Draco’s face went still. “Well, uh…” he stuttered, scratching an invisible itch on his head, “I, um…” He looked nervously around at his friends’ stares which were all on him waiting anxiously. “Guilty pleasure…?” he finished with a nervous laugh.

“Really?” Quatre asked in awe, “Cool.”

“Really?” Draco posed slowly.

“Yeah, totally,” Quatre assured. “If it comes to town someday, wanna go?”

“Uh, yeah sure,” Draco agreed and then caught a glimpse of Gorgo’s curious expression. Drake shrugged and Gorgo looked away in indifference.

“Anyways guys can we grab something to eat now? I’m getting hungry,” Amara spoke up.

“Oh yeah, sorry; forgot. Food’s in the oven. Let’s go; I’m starving too!” Shimi exclaimed and the group followed each other upstairs into the kitchen for their supper.
