Well I did this same challenge of writing every day of November last year in 2020 and here was my result: https://www.patreon.com/posts/november-writing-44555001

I wasn't sure if I'd beat that crazy number of more than 18 500 words but I said I'd try.

And then, tiny word counts came out of me. One day I was so exhausted I went to sleep and didn't write a word. I felt like I'd failed the challenge because of these things. But I carried on anyway to then accept my guesstimate that I only wrote maybe 8000 words this year.

The biggest change obviously is that I worked full time for all of November so my writing hours were limited and my ideal writing spaces were also limited. My motivation to add to Beauty and the Brit wavered up and down. My inspiration came and went for other things. But I accepted that I'd probably not done a lot. Here were the totals:

As I added them up, I crossed 8000 and had to keep going. I started to feel better about myself. And honestly, I feel fairly good about the amount after feeling like I'd done such a poor job at the challenge this year which was indeed still to write every day but I wanted to also write quite a bit too. I forgot that word counts didn't matter.

Can you guess how much I actually got without adding it up?

I'll put the answer below. Last chance to make your guess before scrolling... Ready?
