something horrible has happened to dan. I'm sure this won't last long but someone swapped him with a fake dan who is being nice? it's so unnerving. I loved seeing brooke, Peyton and Lucas coming together to work together to throw this party! it was so much fun. deb is still disappointing but I loved seeing haley tell her off. heck yeah! 🩶

That party looked so fun!! I wish I could’ve been there. It was so nice to see Lucas work with both Peyton and Brooke for it 🥰 Dan is… seriously something. You never know with that guy, so it’s normal if you’re suspicious or wary of his intentions. Still, I loved that he called Lucas ‘son’ 🫶🏻

Luna

Realistically, we should be questioning Naley’s marriage… BUT FUCK REALISM ALL MY HOMIES HATE REALISM!!! Naley is everything and whoever says otherwise can go fuck themselves 😌 If you ask me, Deb wasn’t wrong at all like she was being a concerned adult or parent about two 16 year olds, and one of them is her own son… so she has every right to not approve of this, but Nathan IS emancipated now, so she can’t control him anymore. It’s just the way she handled it and treated Haley that makes her look like the bad guy here, you know? Either way, I loved seeing Haley telling her off. She and Nathan will always protect and defend each other 🤭

Yes!! One of my favorite episodes of OTH. ❤️❤️I rewatch this one so much. Makes me so happy and it’s so fun. Haley’s parents are everything I want to be them haha 😆 Love your reactions!

You being terrified of Dan change is hilarious. I love that it was Lucas idea for the party, just shows how much him and Nathan are growing closer. I can understand Deb not agreeing to the marriage but definitely doesn’t given her the right speak to them like that, happy Haley stood up for them too.

Allison

So is Haley’s dad James James? 🤔

Ursula

I like to think Jimmy is just a nickname for his surname, like he's Bob James but everyone calls him Jimmy or else it's too ridiculous

Allison

Right that would make more sense haha

This episode marks the beginning of Lucas's opening voiceovers as a frequent thing, where he is usually quoting a famous author's words. Sometimes they are used again at the end of the episode. It's easily my favorite distinguishing feature of OTH.

Exactly. I don’t blame Deb for her reaction. She changed her entire life for Nathan not even six months ago; gave up her work schedule, started being at home more. She’s had to fight like hell to get away from Dan, for herself but especially for Nathan. Then Nathan emancipates himself, leaving her alone (and yes, she’s the adult, so it’s not his responsibility; but emotionally, that still hurts). And now he’s left her “for good” to, in her eyes, repeat her own horrible history of young marriage. That is a LOT in a short amount of time. And on top of that, she has her own stuff going on with Keith. The guilt. Trying to figure out what Dan is to her now, whether she should help him out of guilt, or vows, or both, and then he ends up being the only one in her corner when it comes to her feelings about their son’s marriage. Whew. It’s a lot for someone who doesn’t really have much support herself. None of this gives her the right to treat Haley or Nathan the way she has. But I get all her feelings. I even get her anger at Jimmy and Lydia, because it is a very different situation. They had seven kids. Haley was the baby. They had a lifetime of raising children. Deb only had Nathan, and she already lost so much time with him. She was hoping to have some of that back. But in her eyes, that’s gone. Her little boy is gone and she is lashing out. So while I don't agree with her actions, I completely understand them.

Yes! It's like the start of each episode of Criminal Minds. I love the quotes. Also, something else I really love about OTH that I am not sure everyone picks up on, especially if they don't have caption on, is how much every single song that is chosen is about what is happening in the episode or about the character that is being shown. Sometimes it's scarily on the nose. 😂

Luna

YES YES YES YOU SAID EVERYTHING THAT WAS ON MY MIND PERFECTLY!!! I agree wholeheartedly. She’s already going through a lot, so this felt like the final nail in the coffin. That’s why she overreacted in a way that’s questionable. I feel bad for her when it comes to the Nathan thing, but it gets a bit fuzzier and more complicated when it comes to her marriage to Dan + the whole Keith thing.

Yeah, don't mention it Lucas, but maybe tell the camera. Uh, no Brooke, do not be taking naked pictures of Peyton in the shower and putting them on the internet, that is not cool. Did she actually post the pictures, it seems like she posted the pictures, are we just going to skip over that. I'm not a fan of the tone Deb is using when she talks to Haley or some of the things she says to her, but it makes sense that she's upset that her 16 year old son got married, it's a lot, she also doesn't have the best experience with young marriage, which is what she was talking about when she said Nathan and Hayley have ruined their lives, she's talking about her experience. I actually think it's a little more weird that all the other adults seem so alright with two 16 year olds getting married. I get why you're not sure about trusting everything with Dan, it's Dan after all, it is also a little off putting, but the "phoenix effect" is a real thing, after a near death experience people can have a very sudden change of attitude, how they act, what they believe in, it can be a big change, so who knows.

I do totally agree and understand where she's coming from. the marriage is insane, I'm rolling with it bc heck yeah, the drama 😆 I don't have a problem with her being upset by the marriage, I have a problem with the way she's speaking to haley and haley's parents. I do understand that she's putting in effort to change and has changed a lot in her life to be better for Nathan within a short period of time, however, he's had 16/17 years of her not really being involved much it seems, so it does kind of bother me that she feels entitled to have this huge say and input in his life when she didn't care to protect him his whole childhood. maybe that's my own parent issues causing bias but you don't get to suddenly decide to flip a switch once he's all grown up and then act the way she's acting because he made a decision that she doesn't approve of. I think she's lashing out at them because she feels so entirely out of control in every aspect of her life which is understandable and she felt like as he's her son, she should be able to control this situation. but now that he's emancipated, she doesn't have that say. and it is very sad, and I get where she's coming from, but acting this way is only going to push her son further away from her. there's zero chance acting like that is going to bring them closer no matter what🩶

such a great episode and I could see this being one I rewatch a lot too! thanks for watching!!

Brooke posting the naked pictures is INSANE behavior. this is the thing though about the marriage to me. I would totally get it if they came to all of these adults and said they were thinking about getting married. then sure, by all means, get it all off your chest, all your opinions, everything. but they already did it. so yelling at them or scolding them for it is stupid. there's zero reason to do that, it's happened. I understand deb not being happy about it, but her yelling at haley and her parents is only going to make the relationship between her and Nathan worse, not better. I totally believe the 'phoenix effect' thing. my only thought is..... but this is dan we're talking about. I'm not trusting anything he's selling 😆
