I loved seeing Luke and lorelai kind of flip perspectives slightly in this one. and KIRK. no words, no notes, loved it. one thing about Kirk, he WILL show up 😆 the whole Christopher situation is something that I'm choosing to ignore at this moment in time. I want him to be there for Rory, but I also want him far away from lorelai so that's something....

Emily and Richard were the highlight of this episode for me. That dog was clearly symbolic and did most of the heavy-lifting for them. Even if they didn’t know what to do with it, it was what allowed them to finally work together on something that didn’t involve manipulating others or each other. They really should’ve considered adopting a small puppy. It would’ve given them something more to do together, and it’s so nurturing considering how they don’t do that very often, or how they didn’t get to do it much because of how little time they got while attempting to raise Lorelai. I also really enjoyed seeing Emily discover the internet. The ice rink scene makes my heart melt every time, by the way. I love Luke and Lorelai so much 🥰 I agree with you about the lying thing, though. Like why are we doing that? It’s so unnecessary. Luke would totally understand because he lost his dad too. We were literally dealing with his dark day an episode ago. It’s so odd. While I don’t like Christopher, his relationship with Rory is so interesting to me. I love the way they were written here. Anyway, I always enjoy a winter in Gilmore Girls episode. They always give me an immense amount of comfort because it’s my favorite type of season or weather in my favorite show 🤍

its so funny that I grew up as a teenager watching this with my mom and I had no big thoughts on lorelia in this ep but now as a grown single mom myself I promise if snow ruined my day like this now I would crash out way worse than her. its all 100% understandable. leaking roof, bashed in car, work sucks, I would literally start day drinking lol

Even upon rewatching for the 317th time, I also still HATE that Lorelai is lying here, and doubling down on it in the "ice rink" scene (especially then!). Like WTF. Why.....(yes, drama and all, but why....) It is sooooo unnecessary. "If you have to lie about it, you probably shouldn't have done it". (I get her going over to comfort him, but staying all night and getting drunk with him alone...feels a little ambiguous...especially if you go on to lie about it.)

She never should have gone over there without Rory being there, too! Even if there's nothing bad going on between them, you should never do something that could even give the appearance that something could have happened! She should have gone with Rory, or not at all! Even though Rory lied to Luke about it first, Lorelai should not have gone along with it! Now, she is trapped in this lie, and nothing good can come from that!!!

Just playing devil's advocate for Lorelai the teeny-tiniest bit - the last episode was about how upset Luke still is about his father dying. I can see a world in which Lorelai didn't want to immediately dredge that up just as things seem to have calmed down by telling him she was up all night drinking with and comforting another very important man in her life after his father died. I'm not saying it's an excuse, she absolutely should have told him and lying will only ever lead to more and bigger issues later, but it's something that would definitely be on my mind if I were in her position. Realistically, Luke would probably be even more understanding of that circumstance, but.... that wouldn't make for dramatic television, so....

I'm not saying it would be an issue, I'm saying it would be something that I would be worried about in that situation. It's not realistic that it would actually be a problem. As I said, I think Luke would be understanding, not upset. But worry is often not totally rational and Lorelai is not always very rational, so I think it would be a factor in why she would be hesitant to possibly risk a bad reaction.

Yeah, it's awkward timing, so it's easy for Lorelai to make unfair comparisons. Even though Luke wanted it that way, she did just let her current partner deal with his "death-of-father dark day" on his own, while with Chris she is there the whole night drinking. Sure, Luke would understand, but it's one more thing on the long list of things Luke has to understand and deal with and right now Lorelai doesn't want to make that list longer. It's a bad call, but understandable.

Christopher's father died and Lorelai chose to lie about going over to comfort him. I don't...really see the logic here. Especially since Luke has never once expressed jealousy towards Christopher. His father also died; I'm sure that would make him even more empathetic about the situation. The lies just make it look like there's something to lie about I always dislike this type of storyline, so I'm probably picking at it more than I should. I just fail to understand why Lorelai (and Rory, for that matter) felt it was necessary to lie about it

Yeah I never liked that Lorelei lied here it didn’t make sense to me. You’re causing an issue by lying when there wouldn’t have been an issue at all cause I doubt Luke would had been upset at her going over there when Christoper father died. Kirk in the dress was hilarious lol. Can’t wait for the next episode!

Maybe its just me but I don't think it is appropriate that Lorelai went to Christopher's AT ALL without giving Luke a heads up beforehand (I don't expect her to ask his permission, but to respect him enough to let him know!) It still wouldn't have been appropriate even if she had told Luke beforehand to go for such a long visit... WITH ALCOHOL! If my partner had done that, I would feel absolutely devastated. I can see her wanting to go by, bring food/a card, visit for 20-30 minutes, etc. But to stay UNTIL SUNRISE at another man's home, while drinking, with that kind of personal history.... nope. Just nope. I'd be filing for divorce. I know others might not agree and that's fine but for me, personally, I would be gone! It may not be cheating but it is a level of disrespect, disregard, lack of care for my feelings and our relationship that I'm just not gonna do. If my husband did go visit for 30 mins, bring food, check in, whatever- I wouldn't even care! But I'd want to be told BEFORE, or at least like give me a call right after after and say "oh, my ex's dad died. We went over to check in, blah blah" once he had left. To not even tell me days after, and even LIE TO COVER IT UP....?! Giiiiiiiirl. I fear we'd end up on the news. 😂 NO M'AM!! Its the lying/hiding it where it becomes an issue. But, I get it. It is a TV show. And our girl Lorelai is an expert in self-sabotage. We should have expected this lol. Idk what witchcraft Christopher has used on her but SIS... YOU HAVE LUKE AT HOME, WHAT ARE YOU DOINGGGG?! 🤦‍♀️ Ryann would never treat you like this, Luke. Just saying. 🤣 I hope you're ready for the next few episodes because boy howdy are we on a ride now.... 🫣🙊🤬😭

I had a father similar to Christopher, albeit he was a lot broker. My mom told me I’d regret not visiting him more before he died. He’s dead now, has been a year. I don’t have regrets. Maybe wishes that things could have been different had things played out differently long ago, but they’re tempered by knowing things are the way they are and even seeing him gave me too much anxiety. And I take much comfort knowing I take my coffee like my stepdad.

I do find it interesting when people say things of this nature because as the child, it is the adults job to put in effort to spend time with said child and grow that relationship and bond. I 1000% understand not feeling regret about visiting and more so mourning the what could have been had that effort been put in on their end when it counted and mattered. 🩶

When i watched this series as it originally aired, Kirk was maybe my least favorite character. But I've grown to love him over the years. This is one of his best quotes for sure!

I agree, worry isn't rational, and I tend to worry about all kinds of nonsense :), just didn't make this connection. And, Luke made it very clear that he wanted to be alone on the anniversary of his father's death, while Chris' father had just died that day, so....still thinking she shouldn't have stayed that long or gotten drunk with him alone, much less lied about it to Luke...

Just catching up on episodes but wanted to comment to say that, to be fair technically, Lorelai did not lie Rory is the one that lied and butted in with an answer Luke before Lorelai even had the chance to say anything. Now yes Lorelai did continue the lie later on in the episode during the ice skating scene and that was wrong of her, however, for all we know Lorelai could have had every intention of telling Luke the truth in the diner but didn't get the chance because of Rory butting in. Had Rory not butted in the way that she did and had Lorelai told the truth at the diner then that whole dialogue of Luke pointing out that Lorelai was lying at the diner would not have happened and the whole scene would have just been Luke doing something incredibly sweet for Lorelai.
