I feel like this episode was needed! there is some tension happening between Luke and lorelai which seems understandable. then we have a bit between the whole Marty, Logan and Rory situation we have going on and a decent amount between Paris and Doyle - which I'm still obsessed with. I'm still in mourning but I'm working through it 😆🩶

I kinda feel a little bad for Marty’s situation, because rejection sucks and it’s just sad to watch. But at the same time, he should’ve made a move earlier and actually done something. It’s like he knew her for a whole year while she was single most of the time and never tried anything. Now she’s into someone else and… well, that’s life. I really like how Logan asked for Rory’s consent twice before they had their first night together. Definitely a big contrast compared to Dean and Jess. One literally lied to get her into bed, and the other, well… tried to push her into it. I just love all the Luke and Kirk interactions, they’re pure gold. Kirk and Paris are easily in my top 3 characters, hands down. Thanks for the video, I can’t wait for the next one.

Rory and Logan's chemistry continues to be through the roof. Same with Lorelai and Luke, unfortunately for them both I do appreciate Marty finally laying it out there and I appreciate him even more for not reacting negatively. I feel like that era still kinda had the trope of the "just friends" guy who gets all spiteful once his feelings aren't reciprocated. It's tired and predictable, much like the abundance of men who do it in real life And fuck, I have absolutely been in Marty's place when it comes to not having the money to pay the bill at an expensive restaurant you didn't know the prices of beforehand and having to ask for help. It's humiliating lol even though it should very much not be. But I sincerely love Rory for handling that for Marty the way that she did too--it was very sweet of her

Hot take, potentially, but I feel like Marty's issue isn't even so much that Rory isn't into him as much as he has a problem with her liking Logan. I think he knew she doesn't see him as more than a friend and that's why he didn't make a move when he knew she was single. But from our very first impression of Logan, he was being a total jackass to Marty. Your friend not returning your feelings for you is one thing; your friend who doesn't return your feelings going out, however casually, with someone who has low-key kinda been a bit of a bully to you and she KNOWS that is something else entirely. Could he have expressed that better? Sure. But I get why that would sting enough to take a step back.

To be clear I like Logan, but from what we've seen up to this point... he has some very entitled tendencies. And I understand why Marty would have issues around him that make him extra sensitive, from the interactions we've seen before this.

I thought Logan was perfectly polite to Marty. He didn’t act jealous (yet) and offered to pay for Marty’s meal without rubbing it in or lording it over him. But Marty’s pride wouldn’t let him just accept his generosity. Also, I think Marty has a bit of a chip on his shoulder towards rich people.

Luna

LOGAN ASKED FOR HER CONSENT. THAT’S ALL THAT MATTERS TO ME OH THAT FINAL SCENE WAS SO LIFE-CHANGING AND HEALING FOR HER. IT MATTERS SO MUCH AFTER WHAT SHE’S BEEN THROUGH WITH BOTH DEAN AND JESS, I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH 😭❤️

Yasemin

"A play with Kirk" (close enough!) lol :) The t-shirt looks great on you!

Yasemin

To be fair - Marty hadn't told her clearly until now, and Rory's sometimes not so good at picking up on social cues...it's good that they finally cleared the air.

Yasemin

"Do you love me?" "Do I love him?" being sung while Lorelai and Luke try really hard not to look at each other...love it. :)

Honestly, I feel so bad for Marty in this episode. What both Rory and Logan did for him was so nice, though. Yes, he shouldn’t have reacted like that, but I feel like he clearly has a problem with rich people, and more specifically, Logan. The first time we meet Logan, we see Marty get uncomfortable around him, which is understandable because we saw the way Logan and his friends were picking on him for having “less” while still being able to attend an Ivy. He was a target for a lot of their nonsense in the past, and I feel like they could’ve explored their history because the potential for it was really something. They only talked about it briefly and then pretended it wasn’t a thing. Such a missed opportunity to deepen everyone involved, imo!! 👀 However, his financial situation is actually very real of him, so I get why he felt hostile here. It must’ve been so jarring to suddenly be invited along after the way they treated him. He was only invited because of his friendship with Rory. Otherwise, it just wouldn’t have happened. Either way, he’s probably been holding it in for so long, and it only came out when she came into the picture. Speaking of that, it was literally the only reason why it got so out of hand. His feelings for Rory were getting in the way, and he had a lot of resentment toward Logan, so naturally, it had to come out in the worst way possible, which is so unfortunate, even if it makes sense. He actually reminds me so much of the way Lorelai holds a personal grudge toward the lifestyle of her parents. They’re kind of the same with that. Anyway, he was clearly jealous of Logan for taking his place. In his mind, he was probably thinking this way: “Why is she with him? She could do so much better. I should be the one to be this way with her. Not him. Not the guy who saw me the way he did.” To me, he should’ve asked her out while she was still single. He waited too long and only did it when she became unavailable or interested in someone he doesn’t like, so that’s ultimately where he loses points for me. Still, rejection hurts no matter what, and I get where he’s coming from. I’m so glad he was honest, though! I still really like him. He’s not the best or anything, but there are far worse characters 😅

Luna

Lorelai and Luke had a moment there, BUT IT WASN’T ENOUGH AHHH CAN THEY GET BACK TOGETHER ALREADYYY 😭😭😭 I hate it here so much… the post-breakup tension is really testing me. I don’t like seeing Lorelai suffer, nor do I like seeing Luke not do anything about it. He clearly wanted to comfort her there the way he usually did, but that restraint showed a lot of growth from him. I honestly respect him so much for it because they’re not together anymore, and they shouldn’t fall back that easily or at any given moment whenever one of them isn’t doing too well. Still, we must ride the wave and let ourselves be pulled under + into the trenches with this one, bestie! ☹️

Yasemin

Yeah, I like Logan, too, but that remark low-key bothers me..

Yasemin

I love Luke, but sometimes the writers exaggerate his anger a bit, it becomes almost cartoonish. Like, his remark re. Lorelai having "the whole house as special alone place" is a bit out of character (even if I get his frustration).

Luna

Oh absolutely!! That line never sat right with me either.

Yasemin

Here's the thing: They talk about how she got dumped by Luke, but I also didn't read their argument that way. He did say "then I don't think I can be in this relationship", as a response to her really pushing him to say something, but later, after her phone message and him coming over, it was her to insist that "I heard you when you said it was over" etc. I get it, it's for the drama of it all, but in my book, she did not REALLY get dumped by Luke. :)

Yasemin

"Coffee coffee coffee!" is still being quoted today, as a major GG reference. :)

Every minute that Luke and Lorelai are apart, it just breaks my heart! Rory definitely friend-zoned Marty, but at least he finally told her that he liked her. It was getting weird with him, too! Logan was actually pretty good this episode! He was nice and invited Marty to go to dinner with everyone, to give everyone a chance to know him other than being their bartender. One point for Logan! Collin, on the other hand is just a jackass! lol!!!

Luna

That’s true!!

Yasemin

I think Luke mainly went there because he liked the idea of seeing Lorelai (not so much for the kids, as he claimed towards Lulu. :) But her not showing up, frustrated him so much, because he didn't want to do the whole thing in the first place, but still did it after she signed him up. How dare she not show up then, was probably his thought. :)

Logan was so quick and smooth when he offered to pay for Marty. If Marty just said "Sure, thanks" the moment would've been over in 5 seconds and everyone at the table would've barely noticed what happened. Understandable that he didn't, though. I doubt the rich kids would've even remembered it a week from now, but for Marty somebody giving him 75 bucks is a big deal that's gonna leave a feeling like he's indebted to them. And in an unexpected twist, this casual dating thing seems to be giving Rory some confidence to just go for it, which is really nice to see. She doesn't have to over-analyze every interaction because they have already established that they are casual, so she can just relax and have fun. Also, Logan making doubly sure to get consent... just perfect.

Ryann Rodkey

exactly! it's an unfortunate situation but that is life sometimes, you miss 100% of the shots you don't take or whatever they say 🤣 honestly, I could learn from that myself 🤣 but either way, I'm happy he ended up telling her how he was feeling! totally agree about Logan asking for consent and really making sure she was okay. we love a CONSENT KING 🩶

Ryann Rodkey

I've also totally been there when it comes to the money situation. luckily, never at a super fancy place that was an insane amount of money but my bestie would always help me out if I needed and vice versa on situations where she didn't have it and I did. that's what friends are for, but it does leave you feeling embarrassed in a way. I also love that Rory helped him out and that he took the help. sometimes pride can be quite a thing! I also appreciate that he didn't get all pissy when she said she liked Logan. I think he appreciated the honesty, even if he's bummed about it not being reciprocated. I'm worried about him agreeing to still hang out and be friends though. I feel like she's going to want to continue exactly how they are and I'm slightly worried about him becoming resentful 🤔

Ryann Rodkey

I found Kirk slightly annoying when I first started watching and I do really enjoy his character most of the time. I do find some of the things he does creepy or his relationship with his mother very odd, but overall, I just kind of view him as the main line of comedic relief and don't ever put too much weight on whatever he's up to. 🤣 I agree, I def think there are things and flaws when it comes to Logan, but there are with every single character on this show as well. I really enjoy him and find him incredibly charming bc he does have a way of feeling like a very genuine person underneath that charm or slightly cockiness! Finn is super fun, I enjoy seeing him pop up every time! 🩶

Ryann Rodkey

I totally agree with you! Marty really does just seem annoyed when it comes to Logan which is totally understandable. like you said, we've seen that his treatment of marty wasn't great and Rory also saw that. she sassed Logan about the second time she saw him. but now that she got to know him a bit, she's completely moved on from that and I agree, that would hurt my feelings if I were Marty. I also wouldn't have gone to dinner with him if I were marty, I would've just went back to my dorm. but to not only have your feelings not be reciprocated but have her like the guy who's treated you not great has to feel like a bit of a slap in the face to your friend! I do also just think this goes to show a bit how much Rory is changing. I feel like earlier seasons of Rory wouldn't have engaged with Logan fully in this way if he was treating say... lane badly. but she's changing as she gets older which is bound to happen and I think this is an example of that as well!

fire12wife

I don't think he dumped her either! He said what he was thinking, but didn't actually say, "It's over, we're done, adios! You have to say ''I'm breaking up with you'' ...not "I'm thinking your family is too much for me"!
