well well well. if it isn't the consequences of our own actions. seeing that judge stand on business felt incredible. not shocked that Richard and Emily couldn't get through it without throwing a total temper tantrum- right on schedule. I can already tell that I'm going to be very emotional when it comes to lorelai this season, that end scene was breaking my heart for her. LOVED Paris going to Lorelai and trying to make a plan to get Rory back 🤣

THE ROLLERCOASTER HAS BEGUNNN GET READY FOR SO MANY CRAZY THINGS OH MY GODDD (I'll come back later after I'm done with this to share my thoughts lol)

Jana Fuller

Also idk if I’ve ever said this before but I LOVE that you do your descriptions. I love getting a sneak peak/short rundown of how you felt before I get into the episode! I hope you know how much all of your hard work and dedication to us and your channel is greatly appreciated! I’m so glad I found you when I did! ✨Just a little Ryann appreciation moment✨

Luna

Those first six minutes were perfection to enter into the sixth season. I love how on point that was lol. Luke and Lorelai aka our parents are finally engaged, and I couldn’t be happier! 😭❤

Ryann Rodkey

Omg thank you so much 🥹🥹🥹 brb crying!! I also love adding the description! It feels wrong not to say anything and I like just summing up a little about how I felt in the moment!! I’m so happy you enjoy it too!! Thank you for being here!! 🩶🩶

Luna

YES TO ALL OF THIS!!! I agree wholeheartedly 🥰

Luna

It makes me so happy to see how much Paris cares about how Rory should stay in school, and it was very nice of Lorelai to give her her cellphone number if she ever needed anything because Paris barely has someone looking out for her. (However, it’s so weird how they made her not remember Luke because I specifically remember them having a confrontation at the diner way back in season 2.)

Luna

You’re so right about the Logan thing OMG I feel like he fell in love with the version of her who was so into discovering things, as in the curiosity that comes with learning. He saw that spark when she was trying to find out about the life and death brigade, and he clearly looks secretly sad about her decision to step away from something she was deeply passionate about. He also feels partly responsible for this too because he knows he enabled her behavior by helping her steal that yacht + the whole thing with his dad.

Luna

I’m so glad that Rory took accountability for her actions here. She needed to do the community service hours, so it was great that she chose to cooperate, unlike the way Richard reacted at the courthouse. I was very worried that they were going to gloss over it the way they usually do when it comes to serious matters.

sandrinegeller

Yeah it is kind of satisfying seeing Rory actually face consequences. And yeah I do think Logan fell for the school-obsessed and motivated version of Rory but is trying to be supportive of her choices and hopes she kind of stumbles her way back onto the right path. As much as his friends were all being flippant about Rory's choices, he clearly is not a huge fan but isn't interfering since its not his place.

Luna

I feel like this whole problem isn’t even about Rory anymore. It’s about Lorelai and her parents and how much pride and resentment she carries toward them, and rightfully so!!! Still, she should’ve at least been at the courthouse. This is literally her daughter we’re talking about here. It’s the first time something this illegal happens with her. The least she could’ve done was sit there and listen to what was going to happen. She doesn’t even have to talk to any of them. At a certain point, it starts to look like she doesn’t even care about what Rory does anymore (or what even happens to her with the sentence the judge gave her), which rubbed me the wrong way. It makes her love and care for her daughter come across as more conditional. I still feel bad for Lorelai, though, because that final scene explains everything. She clearly feels like she failed at parenting, which is something the show has been hinting at since the pilot. Lorelai herself said that Rory might someday resent her for the plan she created for her, so this storyline was always going to happen and be about Lorelai as much as Rory, maybe even more so given the way she reacts. That’s what makes it so sad because Rory is still growing up, yet it feels like nothing in her life is fully for herself. Everything she’s supposed to be is tied to what Lorelai wanted for herself. That’s ultimately why Rory spiraled. It felt like one of the first truly impulsive things she ever did for herself after years of repression, people pleasing, and trying to live up to impossible standards and expectations. It’s also why this storyline hits so hard. Everyone is hurt, and no one is satisfied. (Including all of us lol.) I completely get Lauren Graham for not being on board with this storyline because it feels like a personal attack. She and Alexis Bledel hated the rift. That distance needed to happen, but the way they made it really hurt the show because Rory and Lorelai’s relationship is supposed to be the one thing we can count on. Their dynamic is literally the heart and soul of this show. I love their connection so much. They’re definitely right up there for me when it comes to TV duos! 😭❤️ (I don’t really like choosing sides here… neither Rory nor Lorelai’s, but I can confidently say that it’s Richard and Emily’s fault with their manipulation and the overall generational projection.)

What always strikes me as odd is that Logan got zero consequences, even though he was totally involved in stealing the boat, too.

Heather

I always assume his lawyers and dad are use to getting him out of these things, so he was fine

Bruce

Every season of Gilmore girls starts out usually immediately after the events of the previous season, and then it skips ahead forward to the fall after a couple of episodes in.

Bruce

I 100% concur with that! Ryann is the best!! worth every penny on Patreon!!🖤

Bruce

39:28 I love how Michel gives ZERO F**KS when he’s talking to Emily from the couch😂😂😂

Bruce

Ryann, at the end when you asked about if Luke was going to have his proposal moment, I think it happened off screen— because it could hear Luke saying the moon is full, this is the moment! And then Lorelai had to stop crying and go outside to him…

Yasemin

Yes, I also think his father's lawyers got him out, and I know that he tried to convince Rory and Lorelai. It's just strange that as a viewer, we are following Rory's court date and all, and it feels right that she faces consequences, but somehow it's OK and "normal" for Logan not to.

fire12wife

Luke was definitely calling to Lorelai in the house, at the end of the episode, for her to come outside and then he'd propose under the full moon! He had the ring and went in the house and said to her... Full moon, moment's here... let's go! Wish they had put the proposal in the episode!

Yasemin

Oh wow, I never thought of that!

Yasemin

Can we also talk about Luke going blonde and having a different hairstyle this ep? Lol, apparently it was because Scott Patterson had been filming something else and his hair wasn't yet back to its normal length at the start of season 6. So, a wig.

MarkusR

I think not showing it was very deliberate. She proposed because she wanted to feel happy. She finally let herself be sad about Rory, knowing it's not gonna last because he was going to propose in the next few minutes once the moon is up and she'll feel happy again.

MarkusR

Don't get me wrong, I like that Rory got to feel some real consequences for what happened. But her lawyer didn't know her legal name, meaning he didn't read a single document with her name on it. Lawyers know who's going to be the judge on their cases, so they can and should do research on how they handle certain cases. He thought he could solve this by having coffee with the prosecutor (who looked younger than Rory) because they are rich and their name is Gilmore. He called the courtroom "a charming little courtroom". He is just as conceited as the Gilmores and thought he had this in the bag by just showing up in a nice suit. The judge basically thought 20 hours was an insult and saw right through his bullshit. If he went for 80 hours she probably would've let it slide, but he pissed her off with that low-ball deal and his "childish lark" rhetoric. He could've argued with her years of supporting her town, participating in the community, growing up with a single mother and only being able to afford college because of her generous grandparents. Instead he basically went "she's rich and a child and doesn't have priors, so let her go". While 300 hours is still very reasonable for stealing a boat, this was on Richard for not hiring a lawyer in the field and instead asking a business friend for a favor, very likely because he didn't want to go around spreading Rory's story to a bunch of lawyers/strangers to find a good one. He did not take this seriously. Logan only had 2 scenes in the finale and they both ended with him saying to let his father's lawyers deal with it. He got nothing and Rory got 300 hours. That's not a coincidence. BTW I think Logan looked very uncomfortable when his friends were talking about him being the "king of sloths". The entire time he kept looking in his glass and tried to avoid saying anything, he only responded with "vaguely" when asked a direct question and when Rory wanted him to elaborate, he just said "No, now, who wants a drink." I don't think he likes this at all, but he has said before, he doesn't know how to be a boyfriend. He doesn't know how much he's supposed to say, how much he's supposed to push and when he should just let her be. I do wonder though. They have only been together for a short amount of time, so if Logan decided to leave school and Rory stayed, would she stay with him, or would leaving school be a deal breaker and she'd break up?

Nana

what i dislike about Lorelai and Rory is that they try so hard to make themselves believe that they're so underprivileged, humble, poor etc but in reality they always have Emily and Richard to fall back on like Chilton tuition, Yale tuition, the house termite situation. And they always fault them for some reason but they're actually helping them??? also here they took in Rory cause she had nowhere to go and asked them for help. Her own mother turning her back on her daughter plus her grandparents would be so horrible.

Nana

also of course Rory taking a break from Yale would disappoint Lorelai but couldn't she just be by her side while she gets through this and especially if she believes Rory will eventually find her way back like she's said to Luke. Just cause she's not going through the path that you wanted and didn't have the opportunity to, is not a reason for her to shut off Rory like that. She is no different than Emily in this case.

Ryann Rodkey

totally! I didn't think of that at all but now looking back, it makes so much sense!! 🩶

MarkusR

Rory is an adult though. If she wants to talk to Lorelai she can call her. If she needs help from Lorelai, she can call her and ask. But she hasn't.

Nana

How can she when Lorelai told her coming come was not an option and made it clear she doesn’t want anything to do with it cause she despises her parents for helping her granddaughter.

Yasemin

Re. Lorelai's proposal...the more I rewatch...it feels a bit unhealthy...not in the sense that she doesn't love Luke or doesn't want to get married to him, but she literally just jumps to proposing because "she wants to feel happy". Yes, she loves that Luke cares so much about Rory etc, but I feel like it was the wrong moment, as she was just back from Friday Night Dinner and devastated. Again, this is not to say she doesn't love Luke, but I don't think she really, really wants to be engaged in that moment. She "just wants to feel happy" (ie, numb the pain), which is not a good enough reason to propose to anyone. If the conflict hadn't happened, I don't think she would have proposed in that moment or any time soon. It also reminds me of how she took issue with Max proposing (and the way he did it). Just my 2 cents after rewatching this for the 108th time or so, lol.

Ryann Rodkey

This is a fair point! I took her saying ‘she just wants to feel happy’ meaning that’s why she wanted to go celebrate it right that minute- not that she only proposed to feel happy. I think in that moment seeing him jump into ‘how can we fix this and what can I do to help’ showed her how much he cared about her and Rory and how in love she was with him sparking the proposal. So I agree that she probably wouldn’t have proposed right now if this didn’t happen but only bc this kind of moment wouldn’t have happened, sparking her to really realize that he’s the one.

Yasemin

Yes, there's that. Maybe "inauthentic" isn't the right word here (I've edited it lol), because she does seem overwhelmed by his love for Rory in that moment, and her facial expression shows how much she is in love. But it also feels like a "distraction", in order not to have to deal with her problems. So I guess it's not coming from the "healthiest" place. Luke's "yes", however, feels like it's been there under the surface for a very long time, lol.

brianhitzone37

Do we have a new Gilmore girls coming soon?
