I genuinely feel so deflated after this episode. I did really love and enjoy the Logan bits - but my Luke and lorelai bubble is being deflated 😭 I am happy she knows now - it's just frustrating it had to come out like this. I am happy that he seemingly was planning on finally telling her that night and I do agree it's something that she be told in person so I see why he wanted to do that - it's just ughhhhhh. Zach is annoying me these last few eps as well which is disappointing. Paris is also making the newspaper a rough experience for everyone involved. I'm happy Rory tried to pull her aside and tell her what was going on but with her doubling down, I won't be shocked if they overthrow her now 😂 (I did have to crop the video a bit which is why it's a bit closer - but that'll be a one off for this episode only, sorry about that!) 😅

Yay! Wearing the same t-shirt, bestie! :) And your sound is so much better now (was a bit quiet for me last time). Will watch now with my morning coffee. (Edit: Mine is the Kirk one, I just saw "Babette ate Oatmeal" on your shirt lol).

The heartbreak on Lorelai’s face when she finds out about April makes me want to cry. Lauren Graham is just so good at subtle facial acting. That one look said everything. I don’t even want to get into Luke about this, but I will. And I still love him, but this is easily one of the worst things he’s ever done. Keeping that secret was just not doing him any favors. The truth had to come out eventually, and I hate that Lorelai found out this way. He should’ve told her AFTER he processed it. I get being thrown off at first, but the fact that it’s been TWO WHOLE MONTHS??? It only makes you wonder if he was ever gonna tell her himself, and I know he was planning to, but he didn’t, so there’s that. I’m glad Lorelai found out, though, because she deserved to know either way. I also hate the postponing thing. Lorelai’s clearly not okay with that, so she should’ve been honest about it too, despite her suggesting it to AND for him. THINGS ARE JUST NOT LOOKING GOOD FOR OUR PARENTS, RYANN!!! 😭😭😭 (I mostly blame the writing for this one because this feels too out of character for Luke.) Oh, and I agree with you about Paris ugh she’s being super unreasonable here. This is not the way to do it. She’s making people fear her more than respect her. That’s the issue here.

Logan

The writing is definitely the problem.

Luna

BY THE WAY!!! This is what Lorelai’s letter says to Rory HAHAHA that moment was just so freaking good, and I loved how annoyed Logan was getting while she was reading it. Genuinely iconic behavior from our beloved Gilmore girls: Dear Rory, So, right now you are reading my sealed words of wisdom as the tormented, foolish (but persistent) cad hangs off every nuance of your reactions, his heart and mind in a dizzying flurry of questions as to how the outcome will play out... As you read this, delight in the knowledge that this love-sick pup before you does not have a clue... Now, ordinarily, after a fool has taken my daughter's love for granted, if I did not kill him through a slow and excruciatingly painful death, I would instruct my daughter, much like Miss Havisham did to Estella in ‘Great Expectations’, to be cold blooded and calculating, to dash his hopes, and to crush him. However, the decision is all yours to make. Love is elusive and all-encompassing, when you fall under its intoxicating spell, you have little recourse but to live out its devices. If you love this boy, maybe you want to give it another chance? Good luck, love you, Mom

Yasemin

Yes, fair: A lot of the things on Lorelai's list are not Logan's fault. She tends to give Rory's boyfriends crap without considering the full picture. (When Rory and Dean first broke up, she yelled at him at Doose's, without even knowing what had happened. In the bracelet story, she directly accused Jess of stealing her bracelet...etc).

Yasemin

Ok, so obviously Luke should have told her. But I will die on this hill forever---We saw him with the intention twice: When he came over and she was in her wedding dress, and today, when he called her and specifically wanted to "talk to her in person" (and not just check if she was going to come by or not). And yes, he also took accountability. I get that Luke "should have told her", and that Lorelai "should be more open" re not being OK with postponing the wedding...but it is quite realistic, also, with both Luke and Lorelai's avoidant tendencies...

Luna

I agree with this!! If Lorelai wants to blame someone, she needs to put the blame on Mitchum. I’m still surprised she never talked to him about this. I know we had Emily and Richard talk to both Shira and Mitchum, but Lorelai herself never confronted him.

Yasemin

You have a point about the writing at this point. But to be fair, Luke was not thrilled when he heard about "June third" the first time either..so he might have felt a bit rushed (with Lorelai just deciding about the date and everything), but now, when she offers to postpone, I think he is relieved. Not great, but it kind of makes sense.

Yasemin

Re. the letter...there is a version on Reddit (not sure if it is supposed to be the actual letter or fanfiction) but I would say best to not check it out now, to avoid spoilers. :)

sandrinegeller

Yes! I saw that they had the letter as an exhibit at some Warner Brothers thing. So cool to know they actually wrote a letter even though it didn't get read out loud for the scene

Luna

I’m glad you said this!! I wonder if it’s because the date itself has another meaning or significance to them, which is why he wasn’t on board with it. Rory’s court date was also June 3rd, right? Maybe he remembered that and it didn’t feel right to have it on the same day as that anniversary. I wonder if Lorelai chose that date on purpose too because of how upset she was about what happened back then… and we know she has a tendency to hold onto things like that. Genuinely confused about this one because it never made sense to me. All these years have passed and I’m still at a loss about it 😅

Yasemin

Oh cool, you posted it! :)

Luna

I know right?! I love it so much 🤭❤️

Allison

I’m still just in the beginning of the episode but the fact that Taylor was in the exact same time zone and decided to still call the meeting at 3 am, wild

Yasemin

True, it is Rory's court date, too, but I don't think Lorelai chose that date on purpose (ie, it was likely a coincidence, with everything just "falling into place" that day when she bought the dress), and also, it's not so much Luke remembering the date, but rather him feeling rushed at that point, because of April's appearance in his life. Ie, he would have felt equally uncomfortable/overwhelmed with June 4th. :) I think they just both need to communicate more openly...

Yasemin

A true clown beating!

Yasemin

"A plane from Maine-----even with the rain in Spain?", is such good comedic timing.

Yasemin

OMG side note, ep 13 is upcoming! Ryann, you will enjoy a cinematic masterpiece in a few scenes....:)

Yasemin

I have watched this SO many times, but only now am I appreciating the Mrs Kim humor...."everyone's a winner"...and then, what to you get to read as your prize..."hell is waiting for you, sinner" LOL.

Yasemin

I know it's frustrating, but don't lose heart, Ryann. It's a rocky road, and I hope you haven't been spoiled (on Youtube etc) but there are still many good and fun moments the show has to offer.

Luna

Oh agreed!! That actually makes more sense lol. And yeah, they both tend to miscommunicate and misunderstand each other very often 👀

Karolina Hołub

With Logan and Lorelai is the same story as with Jess... Lorelai cannot accept that Rory can make a bad choice, and this has such a negative impact on Rory. You know, if there are no more Rory defenders, I am dead, but of course, during this show she is making a few mistakes. Lorelai can NEVER accept that. It is always the fault of a boyfriend. And this is kinda taking away Rory's power, because Lorelai acts like she is just easy to manipulate, which in my opinion is worse than just making some genuine bad decisions. From a writing perspective, I think this is actually amazing how consistent it is in this show if you look closely at it. This is like a fatal flaw of Lorelai. I know people are saying the way Luke acts is not in character and it is bad writing. I disagree. I love Luke, but again, as any good written character, he has his weaknesses, and I think this storyline plays on his perfectly. He is trying to do the good thing and getting completely lost at it. Let's also not act like Luke is so brave and ready to commit since forever; it took him a very long time to go after Lorelai. I think marriage, this level of commitment, is truly terrifying to him because he feels the weight of it; he is not taking it lightly, which of course is a good thing, but in this case paralyzes him, because now he has a second big responsibility and he is scared he will have to choose what is his priority because he cannot be perfect at both. At least I think this is what he thinks. Luke is also not that good with communication, which is exactly the reason why it took him soo long to tell Lorelai. So as painfull as it is, in my opinion, this storyline highlights good writing of the show.

Bruce

This is where you really start to notice the change in direction for the show. IMO, this is when a pattern starts for Luke acting out of character. Something feels off by this point, and it becomes even more pronounced when the creators of the show leave at the end of this season. It will be interesting to see if you think the show still sticks the landing by the end of season 7.

MarkusR

June 3rd is also the birthday of Helen Pai, who is Amy's best friend, a producer and is also the person Lane is based on. Also, anagram: Hep Alien -> Helen Pai

Ryann Rodkey

I'm soooo curious to see how I feel about it as a whole. I can't imagine not loving the show as a whole even with situations like this, but man, WE WERE DOING SO WELL 😅

Ryann Rodkey

I don't believe I have been spoiled thus far!!

Ryann Rodkey

totalllllllly agree! people make mistakes. we have seen SO MANY characters in this show make mistakes and not apologize or take accountability for their actions so I do think is forgivable on Luke's end. like you said, there were a few instances where he was going to tell her. it's still wrong he didn't - but he wasn't going to just not tell her ever it seems. and him realizing that he was in the wrong for that is HUGE

Ryann Rodkey

it totally is a fatal flaw of lorelai! I feel like the only time she acknowledged Rory making a mistake was her sleeping with dean and I feel like that's because it was kind of right in her face. she never even thinks there is a possibility that Rory could've made a mistake which really doesn't help Rory at all in the long run. totally see where you're coming from on the Luke part as well!

Ryann Rodkey

true! I do remember Luke seeming surprised at the June 3rd date!

Ryann Rodkey

yes! Lauren is incredible!!! agreed about this being the worst thing Luke has done. I will say, it did seem like he was actually going to tell her this time and I do think it isn't really the kind of thing you tell your partner over the phone. I think if she had said she was coming to the diner, he would've told her right then, but since she wasn't - it would've been better to do in person. two months is a LONG time though!

Ryann Rodkey

yay for matching and yay for the sound being better!! thanks' for bearing with me!

MarkusR

Wow, I interpreted Lorelai and Logan's scene completely differently. Here's how she is framing it before she starts listing all the things: "In fact, let's take inventory of all the delightful things that have happened since you waltzed into my daughter's life." To me, this is not her saying that Logan is at fault for all (or any) of it. It's just listing the bad things that happened since they started dating (and they are extensive, serious and haven't happened before) and there is not one good thing to list. Remember that Rory barely talked about Logan to Lorelai, she kept almost everything to herself. So Lorelai can't ever truly know which parts are Logan's fault and which aren't, but if everything was bad and nothing was good, then even if Logan wasn't at fault for any of it, he hasn't brought anything good to Rory's life either. And remember that they haven't seen each other face to face since before stealing the boat, Lorelai did see his friends at the police station though, laughing and bowing down to Rory. As far as Lorelai knows, Logan is just like his friends, so being hostile in this moment seems very reasonable. But when Logan starts talking, she listens and responds with: "Really? [...] You're seriously here to ask for my help with Rory. This is not a joke?" Logan: "I'm going for broke here." This is when Lorelai immediately switches gears and starts to become softer and more open. So the way I see it, at first she was in full best-friend protector mode, "not taking any of his shit" because that's exactly what Rory has been doing too (I would expect Lane to do the same thing). She's essentially trying to get him on the defensive to see if he has anything real to say for himself. Then on the "protective mom" side, an ex-boyfriend coming to a mom to convince their daughter to give them another shot, seems like desperate teenage bullshit at first glance, like he's trying to "score points" (just like all the unwanted gifts) instead of actually trying to fix things with Rory. (Also, if an ex-boyfriend of Lorelai's came to Richard and Emily complaining that Lorelai is ignoring him, even though he's giving all these gifts and he tries to get them to "reign her in" so she forgives him, Lorelai would hate that more than anything. So there's this bad "rich-person thinking they are owed things" aftertaste that Lorelai hates as well.) But then she starts listening to him and he's handling the conversation like an adult, this doesn't seem to be some trick but a genuine attempt to reestablish adult communication. When she realizes that, she immediately helps "opening the door".

omg these episodes are sooo hard to watch. I get so frustrated with Luke here and i literally can’t stand seeing Lorelai this sad. And i couldn’t agree more about zach. he’s annoying and boring, Lane deserved SO much better and i genuinely could not care less about his character. And as for the way lorelai treated Logan... nothing new there. she can never see past Rory and her actions, but honestly i thought logan handled the whole situation pretty well.

Yasemin

Ok, so she ultimately comes around, however, the way she talks about him being one of her least favorite people (even if wrapped in a joke) and how he is "not in a position to comment", is quite clearly her giving Logan crap - at first.

MarkusR

Well yeah, before she figured out that he was being genuine, she is giving him crap - and I would expect any good friend of Rory's to give him crap when he's essentially been harassing her with unwanted gifts, even without all the other things that have happened. Plus, it's objectively true that he is one of her least favorite people, deserved or not. So giving him the heads up "Hey, if you think you can just come here and charm me into helping, it's not gonna work, because I don't like you." is actually pretty reasonable. If I was Logan, I would much prefer Lorelai being this brutally honest.

Meike Tummers

I really like the next episode, cant wait to see your reaction!!!🥰

Chiara Stephens

Why so long between Gilmore episodes at the moment?

Allison

Also him saying that will give me time to resolve this. Resolve what? You’ll still have a kid and that will be a lifelong relationship. Crazy conclusions to put off marrying his dream woman.

Ryann Rodkey

No that’s so true! I took it to mean like figure out the balance of having her in her life and what his new normal is but that wording is wild! 😂
