listen, I love my lukey luke, let me make that so abundantly clear. but he thoroughly pissed me off in this episode. ugh. he did come around there for a minute, but at the end, he again, didn't recognize how lorelai was feeling which was a bit upsetting to see. I loved the Logan and Rory scenes in this one, it was so refreshing!! and I love that Logan invited them!! Mitchum stays sucking so bad guys. 👎

Honestly this is probably the episode I'm most likely to skip, lukey Luke pisses me off this episode

Such a great intro with Boozoo - I went to New Orleans once (years ago), and got a little taste of Zydeco music back then. :)

loving how much gilmore girls we've gotten the past few days!!

I know people are huge Jess fans but Logan is quite possibly the healthiest relationship Rory has ever had, despite what Luke may think. She goes to the gym, she cooks--she's evolving. In a healthy manner, even. This is the healthiest her life has looked in YEARS. So glad we got to see just how domestic they've become with one another--genuinely heartwarming And then the reminder of Logan's father and the expectations he has for his son are what brings them back to reality. I just wish Logan's father wasn't such a wrench in the future they could have together. Logan has had his future written in stone his entire life, according to his father. Anything outside of that is unacceptable. It must be so suffocating to realize that your entire future was not only set for you before you could even learn how to walk, but realizing that your father would do everything in his power to force you into that life despite knowing how miserable it makes you

I'll absolutely watch it for your reaction, but this is probably the episode I skip the most on rewatches 😅

Ryann Rodkey

no same, I really enjoyed the Rory/Logan moments but at what cost 😅

Ryann Rodkey

SO FAIR. it was a hard watch at moments 😅

Ryann Rodkey

I really agree! and it's not that she's just evolving, he's out there doing half of the cooking too and they just seem to work together very well as a team which is super nice to see!! and yes - totally agree about Mitchum. it's such a sad look into Logan's life and what choices he has. Mitchum just instantly kills the vibe tbh

It was soo hard to watch you reacting to this episode because you are such a Luke stan and I could tell you literally hurt in this one 😅 I could see you so disappointed in him, which VALID. Terrible behavior! I was heartbroken for Lorelai. She loves Luke, but when Rory said these may be the ones I was like, is she thinking, this is it? This is rest of my life? Especially because Logan was treating Rory soo good so it was looking soo bad in comparison. Of course Luke did A LOT of amazing staff for Lorelai and they are good couple, but when you soo down its hard to imagine it will go back to that 😔

I still can’t believe that this was our only Valentine’s Day episode from the show. Also, I hate the way they’re writing Lorelai and Luke. They both need to COMMUNICATE!!! We already know the deal with Luke, so I’m not going to rehash that, but I do want to talk about Lorelai because Luke always seems to be getting the short end of the stick. Before I do, I still need to say something about Luke in this particular episode, so it’s not about the April thing: I don’t like how he isn’t putting in the effort during this outing because he’s literally ruining the vibe for everyone. From fighting Logan who never once did anything to him to being ungrateful and disrespectful about the trip. Clearly, this wasn’t our beloved Lukey Luke ☹️ The character assassination and out of character moments were so apparent here, and I mostly (obviously) blame ASP for this. It’s like she forgot how to write his character and took away the one thing we all loved about him, which is his soft side for Lorelai and how he’d do anything to make her happy, even while trying to get out of something and failing at it through his grumpiness, so he was never this bad before. OH, AND DON’T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON HOW HE DIDN’T EVEN GET HER A GIFT LIKE WHAT BE SO FR RIGHT NOW!!! THIS ISN’T HIM, RYANN. THIS ISN’T THE GUY WHO BUILT HER AN ICE RINK. I HAVE NO IDEA WHO THIS PERSON IS. I SAID I DON’T KNOW HIMMM 😭😭😭) As for Lorelai, I really do feel bad for her, but she needs to stop going along with everything he decides for the two of them because she keeps telling him that it’s fine when it’s not like it’s really not that hard to tell him how she truly feels about the postponement that she suggested and the April thing because it’s been HALF A YEAR, so this is also on her, imo. They’re both equally at fault for the way they’ve been handling this.

Kudos to Matt Czuchry for carrying this entire episode on his back!!! He’s just too damn good at playing Logan Huntzberger. I feel like this is the episode that shows you why he’s been acting so off this season because we’ve been told that he’s been under so much pressure from his father, and this is where it all comes out. Mitchum is the absolute worst!!!

Luna

I’m a Jess girly through and through, but I feel the same way about Rory and Logan omg you just worded everything perfectly, so I 100% agree with everything you just said :) Even Lorelai seemed shocked about Rory actually cooking because they used to order or eat out all the time back when she was still living with her lol. It’s nice to see our youngest Gilmore girl thriving and looking like an actual adult 🥰

Ryann Rodkey

I was truly in so much pain 😂 agreed, I just felt sad for lorelai and it's one of those things where it felt so unlike Luke! he does everything for her and throws himself happily into whatever she wants, so seeing him kind of working against her in every scene was rough! 🩶

Ryann Rodkey

I so agree with you. this genuinely was just NOT the lukey Luke who built her that ice rink or carried her horoscope for 8 years. WHAT DO WE MEAN!? it just felt SO unlike him and was a frustrating watch for sure!

Yeah 😞 I am a little torn if this is a wrong read of the character from the writing, or if maybe it actually makes sense in a way. Like, you know, he is kinda being Luke but usually it's in a sweet way, this time it's in an annoying way. Like when people say the reason you fell in love is someone is often the reason you break up. Of course not break up in this case, but I am just thinking - he is under much more stress and he is really prioritizing April, so it doesnt come to him as naturally to kinda put his preferences aside for Lorelai like he used to. Usually he would "complain" but you could tell that he is still super happy that he is with her so he will do all the staff he would normally don't like. But I think this is also realistic. Than when we are tired and real life comes in, sometimes we can lose this ability to put aside annoying things that normally we would ignore. Because all the things he was getting annoyed over, it was very Luke, but normally he would take it differently.

I love this episode but it's very exhausting. I feel like I just ran a marathon. A very sad marathon. Literally every problem on this show goes back to communication. Which is understandable (I suck at communication too; I hate upsetting people and my own "peace"), it's just disappointing to watch.
