can’t wait to watch this one but I’m a lil behind so here I go on a binge!!

This was another just okay episode for me. It was great to see Alec trying to unite the downworld and just leading in general. Though in my opinion the next episode overshadows this one by a lot for me. While this one was interesting it was a little slow moving for me but other then that I enjoyed it. Simon, poor baby Simon is now hurt beyond belief. While he was the one Clary turned too after her and Jace didn't work out, I did feel like she actually wanted to make it work, so I also understand her upset at the end- but when it comes to my ranking of characters Simon is quite a few above her for me so seeing him upset hurt more.

So the thing we all expected finally happened and everyone involved got hurt in the process. I still think that Simon and Clary had better chemistry on screen than Jace and Clary but whatever, we all knew she would end up with Jace. I'm glad Simon and Clary tried dating though. Now Simon can move on and won't have to wonder "what if", which would probably happen if he never told her that he loved her. About the Sebastian and Raphael talk, it was actually Raphael first who started not minding his business. So even though we now know that Sebastian is not the good guy he's trying to pretend to be he just responded to Raphael's taunting... actually, scratch that, they were both out of line, Izzy can think for herself. The only ray of sunshine in this episode was Alec being a leader and making smart and calm decisions. What a breath of fresh air. His formal exchange with Magnus was adorable :D And then the usually calm and level headed Luke comes and starts behaving impulsively. Hey, I'm not against killing Valentine (but not when under Alec's invitation, that's just rude) but why does everyone always think that taking him down one on one is a smart idea? Just shoot him from a distance and be done with it.

Totally agree with everything.. esp the last part 😂❤

I’m so with you! I enjoyed this episode but it wasn’t one of my favorites! I really feel for both of them and I know Clary cared, but I also think she was maybe not being fully honest with herself and Simon which just hurt Simon more 🙁

Ryann Rodkey

you’re so right- thank goodness they gave it a shot, now he knows that they tried and didn’t work and he has that closure a little bit to find something better for him! *ahem* IZZY. *ahem* You’re right, Izzy can handle herself 🤣🤣 I loved Malec’s exchange!! It was so cute!! 🩶 I’m with you, I was really annoyed with Luke going for it, like just not thinking it through when he’s usually one of the level headed ones. I agree, let’s just end him 🤷🏻‍♀️

Abby

Oh yeah, totally not being completely honest with herself or to Simon and it fired back at her this episode. Can't wait for the next episode.

The seelie queen is a menace😭 I think doing that with Simon/jace/clary was mostly just an effort to get Simon to consider being on her side but also probably just for the fun of the drama😩 also throughout the series they have different actresses play the queen due to her ability to change age but I think I like this actress the best, something about her being a child is so much creepier I think clary is definitely majorly confused seeing as Jace just recently is no longer her brother and she does love Simon but there’s more of the comfortable feeling with him whereas jace is more the exciting/passionate option. and i think the clary/Simon relationship was necessary in order for Simon to be able to maybe move on from her without having to question what could have been. jace & sebastian playing the same piano song…interesting to say the least but we will get more of him in the future eps the downworlders are honestly very understandable. i love alec a lot but it’s very reasonable that the downworlders don’t trust his cabinet idea. shadowhunters are mortal whereas many of the downworlders are immortal and have watched their kind be wronged for centuries time and time again by shadowhunters and the clave. i get why luke wanted to just kill valentine (obviously not the smartest plan but understandable) and the clave really has never helped the downworld truly so it’s def a complex situation. it sucks because alec can only do so much as the head of the NY institute and the higher ups in the clave will never let real change happen even if he wants it

Ryann Rodkey

oooh that's so interesting! the fact that she was a child was so unsettling, so I think this might end up being my favorite if the others aren't children. it makes is feel so eerie! absolutely! I do feel for clary for sure with the situation, butttttt I am so happy that Simon knows now and will not be wondering 'what if' for the rest of his life! right right, totally! I think I was just so shocked at Luke being the one to do it because he usually seems like one of the most level headed in scenarios like these so seeing him just going for it was WILD!! 🩶

Given the Clave's prejudice against the downworlders, it is not surprising that they don't trust shadowhunters. In season 1 even Alec made some derogatory statements about vampires and warlocks. It says so much about Alec and his leadership style that he recognize Luke's value in the downworld council and let him go. He understands that he needs someone with Luke's experience to help him.

Ryann Rodkey

absolutely understandable why they don't trust the shadowhunters to have their best interests at heart! I'm so glad that they are trying to be civil and work out some things between them, with everyone's input!
