At this moment when I'm making Futa content I have no control if a pussy is present or not :) I hope to get more control on that soon! That being said! The direct translation of Futanari is "To be of two kinds" . In other words: hermaphroditism. So I'm not sure why futa's traditionally didn't have female genitalia. I think once I get control over that I think I'll just make it another subtheme. Maybe I'm going to think of a nicer name than Shemale? Not sure yet :)

Yes, the actual original translation is "hermaphroditism". That is why imo Futa should have always been both. There are other things like Shemale, Newhalf, and even Dickgirl which can be other things. So I agree you should find a different name for the other if you choose to do it. Thanx.
