Hey guys, v0.1.13a is now available for Patreon members only! It features the optimized physics I showed in my last video. I did also manage to simulate a V69 as a joke... that will show up in my next video. For most engines, this new version should show a 20% improvement in performance. Let me know what you guys think or if you discover any issues!

Im loving it! Nice work 😍😍😍

IceManV93

Fantastic work! It can actually run my W40 engine now :) can't wait to see the v69 haha

Nathan Byrd

I love this version!😍😍😍

Nathan Byrd

I also still cant wait until you add 2-strokes and diesels!👍👍👍

He'll probably simulate a nuclear reactor before he even thinks about diesel engines. 😜

atg_engine_simulator

The temptation is definitely powerful but I assure you that diesel engines will be coming before nuclear reactors lol

Nathan Byrd

Yeah I dont blame you it would probably take straight days or weeks of code to make nuclear engines even though it sounds like a good video idea

atg_engine_simulator

This might be hard to believe but in a lot of ways, simulating a nuclear reactor is actually EASIER than a diesel engine. I know it probably seems like there's a lot of overlap between gas and diesel engines (which there is to some extent), diesel engines are actually significantly more complicated to simulate which is why I haven't implemented it yet

Nathan Byrd

Dang, what about 2 strokes, how hard are those to simulate. I mean I don't code much but it seems kind of similar to your steam engine because of the exhaust port stuff that you did in that video?

atg_engine_simulator

2-strokes are fairly straightforward, I'll be getting to those soon. I'm trying to prioritize work on the 3D interface as much possible so I don't keep you guys waiting too long

Nathan Byrd

Ok, I'm so stoked for the 3d interface, it looks really good from what I can see in the videos.

ScarlettStunningSpace

It's a very noticeable difference, even on engines with few cylinders.

bluegrey6124

Hey, no probs! Take your time. 😉 It's much better to do it right, than to rush a half-baked product.

RaptorJeezus' Assetto Physics

I am simulating a 36 cylinder wasp major with relative fidelity on a 2020 6c cpu. It struggled with 14 on 12.2a its a real difference

MyDuck

Thanks dude! Now I can finally run 8 cylinders on my weak CPU. Good luck in future developments.
