A nice little pic of Zoe in a cute and cartoony style, which I think turned out quite well! Nothing too much else to say about it other than that I like it and it was a gift from Urban so thank you very much for it!

Sorry I’ve been quiet here for a while. It’s been a mix of bad moods plus my contractual obligation to take time off whenever a new Monster Hunter releases, so I’ve been busy playing wilds and trying to feel better. Going to make a big push on the next chapter right after I post this, though.

I've been playing wilds too. The first MH I got into on launch and it's been pretty fun even if I stuck

mhfap

I’m a diehard player since 4U and I’m very happy with every aspect of Wilds save for only launching with 30 monsters. Granted 20 of those are new and almost all of the new ones are some of the best we’ve ever seen, so it’s not all bad. The curse of playing at launch… I say as if 30 monsters doesn’t still equal hundreds of hours of playtime lmao.

Ike

The different monsters, gear styles, and different weapons means crazy replay. I'm slow rolling the main story

mhfap

Yup, that’s why I love MH so much. I get hundreds of hours from each one. I kinda sped through the story cause I’m pretty decent at these games and I’m only a few quests away from finishing the second half of the story lol. You get to a point where the credits roll but you know how MH works by now, it just means the start of the high rank story. How far are you?

Ike

Just killed the Rompopolo. I'm about to start skipping cut scenes lol

mhfap

I actually quite like the story and cutscenes and especially the characters this time (after disliking them in world and rise) but there’s a *lot* of them so I won’t blame you lol. They really structured it badly, it’s nonstop but it gets a lot better after low rank. If you care at all about MH lore just make sure not to skip once you get into the Keeper’s village, there’s a lot of incredible stuff in the final act that ties into some really longrunning stuff.

Ike

I'll keep that in mind. I joined the MH gathering Den discord and it had a good amount of people to play with that have been pretty cool to a noob

Goldfish2

Noice. Take your time! An author feeling their best means quality!

Wilds is one of the best releases in a while. I did like Rise, but that was because it was anime AF and I enjoyed the heck out of that. Working my way through high rank, but taking a lot of breaks to step back and power my squad members through the low rank quests when they phone-a-friend :)

mhfap

I’m not sure why I missed this comment, my bad. I wouldn’t dismiss an opportunity to discuss MH lmao. Yeah Wilds is great but I have a lot of asterisks about it now that I’m really deep into endgame. Depression meant I shotgunned the whole thing and then routinely played for days and days after lol. A lot of them are minor complaints and most will get ironed out as more patches and content comes out.

mhfap

I both love and hate Rise weirdly enough lmao. My biggest thing is spiribirds should’ve never been a think, period, and while I love wirebugs I really disliked the mounting mechanic. But personally I don’t think they’ve ever had a mounting mechanic that I’ve liked as of yet- it just bugs me that mounting a monster takes you out of the hunt just to earn a quick stun. It never feels worth it to me. Also I thought the characters were all really flat and I didn’t get attached to many. At the end when the characters a

mhfap

my bad. When they all had a big festival to laugh and celebrate I just stared stone faced at the screen like wow I don’t care about a single one of you lol. But the gameplay of Rise was great, I’d be interested in playing it over with a summon rainbow spirit bird at the start of every quest mod one day lmao. Wilds wasn’t enough for me and I’m playing 4U for the first time in a decade and it’s still so good, emulation on steam deck feels wonderful compared to the old abysmal 3DS.

I almost never did anything with the spirbirds. On a hard quest, I might take a path that would let me pick up two or three, but I hardly considered them important. I think that's what I found likable, or perhaps forgivable, about them..you could tailor your own difficulty. The pacing of the game was just right for me too. Faster than the more deliberate, heavy-and-impactful feeling World, with fantastic traversal and moves that put me in mind of Adept style from 4U...but for everyone! A really nice change of pace in the series. As for Wilds, generally I really enjoy it. I like the lore bits...I like the set piece fights..I like the monster choices. I wouldn't mind more, of course. 29 is a lot less impressive than world or rise at launch, but on the other hand almost all of them are new and have been new, fun challenges. Especially the ones with new skeletons. That's a lot of dev work and I'm here for that.
