Wanted to know your guy's thoughts on if I were to do this.

As we all know, the Guild Master lived many years thinking he killed his grandfather through disappointment. That joke seems not to have landed with a lot of people and some people find it worse how I jokingly tried to tie Luxy into it.

I ws thinking of editing it into removing Luxy being at fault, and rather than disappointment it's that Grandpa was yelling so hard it led to a heart attack, or GM pushed him when he tried to stand up for himself and it triggered one.

While I won't change everything that doesn't land with some readers, this is one of the things I hear about the most so I figured I'd consider it and I'm leaning very heavily towards yes.

I think that the part where he held himself responsible for his grandfather's death at least made sense in that it fed into his depression during his lowest point. While perhaps dying of disappointment is a bit much (I thought it was a little funny), his grandfather's death could still be tied to him in some way since it magnified his sense of failure when the guild began to fall apart after his passing.

Yeah I meant that he'd still have the feeling it was all his fault, it's just that the it being a joke part has fallen flat for good amount of readers and I think having something divisive like that so early on only hurts

I still like that Luxy tried helping in that moment, but agree making it where she was at fault is a bit cruel but have no good alternative to add other than maybe finding a middle ground where neither were at fault & was a simply a sad moment with bad timing

I honestly think its fine. Not only does it have some humor it really points out that she isn't the all powerful goddess everyone thinks she is. It kind of shows the side of her being inexperienced and not being that good at doing her job.

I mean she literally staked everything in existence on a person she choose to ignore for a long period of time and tried to test a new way without any commitment to it. So in a convoluted way i think its better this way then just the guy dying from a heart attack.

The story has been good so far, I’d personally prefer you to continue on with the story and not continue to delay releases. I don’t think you have a need to keep second guessing yourself on minor plot differences.

mhfap

I’m doing both lol, this isn’t delaying releases. I’m hopping back and forth between new chapters and editing old ones. There aren’t that many changes I’m making, and I can’t really be talked out of this. It’s something I need to do for my own satisfaction. I need to take care of these areas before there are thousands of chapters and editing them becomes a nightmare. Plus these aren’t even full rewrites, as I’m able to use more of the original text than in the early chapter rewrites.

I get it, I have a touch of OCD myself, just meant don’t drive yourself nuts going over and over minor things, you’re writing an enjoyable story.

mhfap

Thank you haha. I just don't want you to think that's what I'm doing, This is like, the one minor thing I'd do this for because numerous people have brought it up as a barrier to their enjoyment. I'm still focused on going forward at the same time as improving, 187 will be up tomorrow for sure

Oh have people been hating on that plot point? I kinda liked it cause it tied his destiny as the “hero” to what went wrong with his life and that he has the skills to do what he wants but got fucked over by the airhead of a goddess

Late to the party but I think Luxy being at fault is an important part of the story, it could have been executed better but I would personally prefer that point alone not be changed

mhfap

It really wasn't important though, as I don't have plans for it to mean anything more than that. It doesn't add anything but even more reasons not to like her, which she has plenty enough even without that. It was unecessary and the idea that a God would just unintentionally kill her Hero's support and not bring him back to life is just way too indifferent to me. I mentioned some shit about other Gods telling her not to, but I don't like that either. I can't be argued away from this lol
