This month on Innside Stories, we're exploring one of the most important partnerships in modern gaming: PlayStation and FromSoftware. Today, it feels impossible to imagine the gaming landscape without Souls games, but there was a time when both PlayStation and FromSoft were struggling to find their footing.

The PlayStation 3 era was rough for Sony, and FromSoftware was still a niche studio known mostly for strange, ambitious games that never quite broke into the mainstream. In this episode, I trace the relationship that began with Demon's Souls, explore why Sony almost let the game disappear, and look at how the success of Souls games helped reshape not only FromSoftware's future, but PlayStation's identity as well. It's a story about risk, timing, creative freedom, and how two companies ended up changing the industry together.

Each month, we alternate posting a Host Special, focusing on personal experiences, our favourite games, or just stories that peaked our interest. We wanted to provide some bonus content for our Patrons, so the Monthly Host Special is exclusive to Patrons of The Gamers’ Inn. Thank you for the support, and we hope you enjoy listening as much as we enjoyed putting this together.

Thank you for your support and happy gaming!

I still remember my first encounter with the Tower Knight Boss. Man, what a moment in gaming that was for me. While I did not dive too far into the Dark Souls series, Elden Ring was nothing short of majestic. Yeah it'll kick your butt, but the bosses are so cool. It's awesome to hear the back story of it all. You know a game has made it when they become their own category: Souls-like games. Great job on the special!
