We're thrilled to announce that Pybricks for EV3 is now in early access for our MINDSTORMS Legends. So grab an EV3, install Pybricks, and start building!

What can you make?

Everything you love about Pybricks is now coming to EV3. You can code with Python and blocks. You can even mix them for endless possibilities.

The EV3 is incredibly fast now, and you don't need to install any tools on your computer to use it. We can't wait to see what you'll build.

What's supported?

All EV3 motors and sensors are supported, including LEGO Education EV3 devices.

NXT sensors are supported! Third-party sensors like those from HiTechnic or Mindsensors work too. We'll add examples of how to use them in time.

Installation

Installation is easy. No need for microSD cards or special drivers.

To get started, click Install Pybricks Firmware on the settings tab, and follow the instructions.

What's next?

All core functionality like motor and sensor support is complete. But there's still plenty of work left to do. In the coming months, we'll be working on Bluetooth support, documentation, and EV3 example projects. Let us know if your favorite feature is not yet available!

Early access link

Special thanks to our MINDSTORMS legends who have been waiting patiently for this moment. You will receive an email today with a link to try it out early. Thank you for your continued support. You're awesome.

We'll open this up to the general public in a few weeks once it has received a bit more testing. Stay tuned!

Thanks for the hustle, I'm so excited!

This is very cool, but I am hanging out for Bluetooth functions so I can link mulitple EV3s. Almost important to me these days is being able to use the MindSensors.com EV3 add-ons like the NXTServo (RC motor multiplexer), EV3lights (RGB LED strip controller) and PFmate (powerfunctions motor controller) for EV3. You can see examples of what I've done with this architecture using the original EV3 firmware here: https://www.youtube.com/@JakeRoos42

ran some test programs today with an EV3 and worked great. are there specific things you want us to test?
