Full Length Reaction Guide

We take copyright law very seriously, so you will have to sync up our reaction to your own version of the show/movie. To help, we have a range of guiding tools throughout the reaction to help you sync up with us, including a small snippet of the scene to ensure you are in sync.  Any instances in which you see the screen cut, this means we’ve had technical difficulties or have skipped a potential disruptions/bloopers. This means you will need to sync up your copy of the show again, if we are unable to edit these cuts seamlessly into the next scene. An updated timecode will be provided on the screen.  Anytime we pause, there will be timer/countdown on screen to prompt you. So if we’re about to pause, there’ll be a countdown, and you are expected to pause as the number reaches 0. The same will happen when we press play after pausing. You will press play as the number reaches 0.  Here are some popular ways people sync up the reaction with their own copy of the show:

  • Use a dual monitor PC setup to watch both screens simultaneously

  • Use the split screen functions on your computer/phone to watch them side by side

  • Chromecast / Screenshare one screen to your TV while watching the other screen on a phone or laptop

  • HDMI your laptop / tablet to the TV and use the TV as a 2nd monitor (not mirror display)

  • Use your Smart TV or Gaming console to play the YouTube reaction and your Phone/Laptop to play the show (or other way around)

  • Use Google chromes picture in picture mode to overlay your own copy of the show over our reaction in a smaller window size (Link to the extension here: ( https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/picture-in-picture-extens/hkgfoiooedgoejojocmhlaklaeopbecg?hl=en )

We hope you enjoy the video!

A fief is a holding or source of income for a vassal granted by their lord as income for their services.

The actor who plays John Blackthorne has such a commanding voice and on screen Presence, good choice for main character, exactly the same with Hiroyuki Sanada (Yoshii Toranaga), he's been screen dominating in every performance I've seen him in.

Man this episode made so much more sense to me watching it a second time. I was definitely like you two with the names and relations but you guys probably understood more than I did on first watch. Every episode has been better than the last imo.

Madison

YAY SO SO EXCITED FOR THESE REACTIONS!!!

If I’m not mistaken this was Disney’s MOST expensive show in terms of set design. I think it shows some great respect. Solid react as always

*****IMPORTANT MODERATOR NOTE PLEAS READ*****: If anyone here is watching this for the first time and is having trouble keeping names or relationships straight, we have provided a very handy relationship chart with character names and photos in both the non-spoiler and spoiler Shogun channels in our community discord! I also highly recommend the official FX Shogun website for the show. Its one of the best made websites for a tv show I have seen. There are official extensive episode summaries on there, there is a character guide, there is a location guide, and there is even a vocabulary/glossary section for all the Japanese terms used. They also have additional information in there on what real life events and people inspired some of these characters and story elements. There is also an official podcast with the showrunners etc. that deep dives into each episode for those that like that sort of thing. We want everyone to enjoy these reactions and the show as much as possible! I highly recommend giving it a look.

Very interesting show. I went into this blindly wondering if it was going to be all fighting, etc., but as the Last Samurai did there was a lot of weaving in of the culture and the history. I have always known that honor is very important to the Japanese after reading about the World War II Japanese Kamikaze pilots who would kill themselves by making suicidal crash landings onto enemy ships - they would deliberately die for their country. The story was fascinating, and I am as lost as you all are because there are a lot of different groups of people here besides the native Japanese and their leaders with their own set of code and honors - and then some have converted to Christianity whether Protestant or Catholic - not sure which is which here. I happen to be a Christian and have always wondered about the infighting amongst people who claim to worship the same God but treat each other poorly in some cases. Very much a shame. I am curious as to how all of them learn from each other.

Madison

Totally agree that this show takes its time!! The attention to detail, the atmosphere, the music—everything—lends itself to creating such a subtle and engaging show.

It's interesting how honor seems to be a two-way street. They often beheaded their prisoners and, while that may seem harsh to sensitive Americans, it was a quick and easy death compared to dying of starvation or infection. In a way, they even had honor for their enemies.

usually when i watch your guys reactions, its shows or movies i’ve already seen. i decided im gonna watch this one for the first time along with you guys. excited to go through the shogun journey with yall 💛

Mike

Just curious, why does y'all's version not have the black screen breaks between certain scenes? All of your scenes seem to transition immediately but on Hulu and Disney+ they both have screen breaks for a few seconds between certain scene like after the priest trying to get John Blackthorne killed. It keeps throwing off my sync with you guys lol
