This episode title, Leviathan Wakes, is the name of the first book. All season finales are named after their corresponding book. However, if this finale didn't feel like a season finale, that's because the season doesn't actually cover the entirety first book. The story continues in the second season.

I really enjoyed this episode. Great reaction and you are staying on top of it better than you may think. I really am enjoying all the different stories along with this protomolecular (possibly not the exact spelling) bioweapon virus. Talk about fast mutation. Radiation is speeding up irs spread too and the mutation is most likely on steroids at this point. That was freaky but cool how the virus took the shape of the man they left behind and then the molecules formed a solid mass. Whoa.

Just to clarify a couple things from the discussion. The spy wasn't working for Julie's father, he was working for that guy Chrisjen subtlely threatened when they were at that aquarium and she brought up that his son was coming up for parole. He was stealing technology from Fred Johnson and Tycho Station. Once they were on Eros, he sent their location to Chrisjen's superior, Errenwright. He sold them out and got what he deserved imo.

Yes, the spy (Kenzo) was lying through his teeth when he said he had no idea they’d be attacked at the hostel Julie was in. Right before the group goes in there is a quick shot from the perspective of his eye piece that said something like “tac team en route. Police to not respond” or something to that effect. The spy had it coming, he led our Roci crew into a trap. Holdens instincts were right.

It kinda reminds me of the 100 a bit. The pacing and the fact that it’s centered around space.

Pudgey you have such good insight into the characters! You are understanding things about the characters that many don’t catch or get on the first watch, especially when it comes to Miller and Holden! Also, good job Spartan on recognizing the guy who attacked Havelock, not many do. I love how Miller gets his revenge. Super excited for season 2! It would be my favorite season if not for seasons 3 and 5. It’s crazy how this show just gets better and better!

Honestly sometimes I feel so dumb, having watched an episode 3 or 4 times and they pick out something on first watch that took me forever to notice! Then again that’s one reason I subscribe!

It's alwats a pleasure watching new reactors discovering The Expanse. I hope you realize how lucky you are; you can stream the next episode whenever you want. Those of us who have watched the show since it originally aired on TV, had to wait a full year to see what happened after the S1.E10 cliffhanger.

Pudgey's reaction to Amos suddenly icing Sematimba was perfection. First, pure shock, then a quick burst of elation and almost happiness, a millisecond later, reconfigured into the realization of oh crap, that's really bad. Really though, one hell of a bioweapon isn't it? Hmm.

because of half the stuff in this season not even being in the first book, the book isnt ending with this episode so thats why it might feel a bit strange. the book 1 end truly season 2 episode ...4 or 5 cant remember its very clear feels very season finaly xD

Why would they take a break? I don't think they've ever taken a break between seasons with a show unless it was something that's currently airing and they have to wait for the new season to be released.

AMEN! S5 is definitely up there with S2 and S3. I've noticed though that there are some who are not into the season somehow. For me 2,3 and 5 are next level though of course all the seasons to me are great, it's just that those three stand above for the series!

Regarding the spy, remember when Chrisjen left Holden's mother's house, that Errenwright called her and told her that her spy hadn't reported in and was on Holden's ship. Because of this , Errenwright ordered the hit on Holden. because he didn't know whether the spy had been compromised. While on the Rocinante, the spy kept trying to contact them but couldn't get a connection, until they landed on Eros. When he did manage to get a connection, he instantly told the govt. where they were going to ( the Blue Falcon) and the hit was set up. So the spy was never helping Holden but setting him up to be killed.

Spartan said it's "crazy" that the people who unleashed the Protomolecule on Eros don't see Belters as human. The thing is, they're *wrong* and they're *evil* to believe this but this is unfortunately also very common throughout human history. It's one of our many constants as human beings. Not all humans agree on the humanity of all the others, unfortunately. This pattern continues today, in literally every region of the world, against various groups. This show is so much more than just science fiction. It's a very critical look at our own society. The Expanse isn't "Game of Thrones in space" it's late-stage capitalism in space. This is what our society will become if we don't move past this behavior.

wow you recognized Filat Kothari *instantly.* WAY earlier than anyone else I've seen. way earlier than I did. lots of reactors don't even remember who he was even after Miller says his name, shoots him, and tells Holden "he had it coming." you recognized Dresden way earlier than most people including me did too. you are incredibly insightful into a lot of dynamics that I've never picked up on or seen anyone else do. damn you're fun to watch.
