Before you get too deep into the show, you’re going to see physics in space represented at various points. You’re going to ask yourselves, “is that how that really works?“ and the answer will be yes. Other than the obvious fiction parts of the show, they get the science right, which is why this show is beloved in the astrophysics community.

Spartan I feel you on getting the OLED just in time to watch the expanse! It really makes the colors on the show pop and I know you’ll appreciate the space battles to come on that thing. Another thing, I would say it’s more of a space detective noir storyline for the first couple of seasons and then become more of a mass effect/GoT type of show after season 3ish. Anyways hope you guys enjoy your first taste of “Hard” sci fi 😅

I just use nord but I've had nord for a long time, can't remember if there's a free version I think there is. Otherwise I'm sure you can find a free one. You could ya know, gather a crew and a ship and sail the high seas if you wanted but a vpn is just much easier and safer.

I’m going to be real. The idea that the expanse is Game of Thrones in Space is like saying Game of Thrones is the walking dead. Expanse would be like GoT if most of the Kingslanding and war stuff wasn’t in the series and was more in the background etc and we only followed Jon and Danny. I stopped reading the book series bcs ther wasn’t the politics and faction and intrigue on tbe level that I wanted. Red Rising fulfilled that itch for me instead. Space Game of Thrones. Expanse nevertheless is a fun series both books and tv

Yeah I would say Dune or Red Rising are much more akin to Game of Thrones in space as compared to The Expanse. Which is not to say The Expanse isn't an epic story, but whereas those novels/shows tend to have many protagonists...there is a main core of characters on The Expanse who really drive the story. Also, while there is a political thriller aspect it's not as convoluted (sometimes needlessly) as GoT. I would place The Expanse slightly above GoT in enjoyment, but I like them both, and that's mainly because of how badly GoT fumbled their last couple seasons.

Not very excited about this one. I found this show pretty un engaging and extremely slow at times. Maybe I’ll try to give it another chance I could never get that far into it.

First Season is probably the slowest, lot of world building, but it really cranks up quickly once we get to S2. S3 is just bonkers.

I think because season 1 has a lot of information and world building. It’s one of my favorite shows, but my wife couldn’t get past the first season because she also said it was too slow.
