Gi-hun had to kill someone, or else the guards kill him for not killing anyone. He came in to the games to end them and not kill anyone. I think the Frontman made this one so insane - first time players have to actually kill each other - Dae-ho was the only option. Gi-hun spared like 3 maybe 4 blues, if he was forced to kill anyone, it had to be Dae Ho as revenge for his best friend, real Marine, Jung Bae. And he may not have done it if Dae Ho didn’t pull the knife on him, then it became a game of self defense. And all the while the frontman was smiling inside his freaky mask.

I think the season had a strong start. The tension and anxiety are palpable from the very first minute. I didn’t like that Gi-hun killed the boy, it honestly broke my heart. He was just a boy, frozen by fear, and I can’t blame him for that. When fear takes over, it’s incredibly hard to fight it. I understand that Gi-hun was overwhelmed by rage, and his own guilt made him explode. He needed someone to blame, and unfortunately, that poor boy became the target. The boy never meant to hurt anyone. There were so many others who were truly cruel and didn’t deserve to move on to the next phase and I wish it hadn’t gone that way. The mother’s sacrifice (who had been like a mother to everyone) was devastating. I can’t begin to imagine how hard it must have been to take her own son’s life just to save the baby. What a situation! I wasn’t surprised that she gave up on living afterward. In the previous season, she made it clear that if her son died, she’d have no reason to go on. It’s all incredibly sad, and it’s clear that the show isn’t afraid to create tension and push things into even darker side

Nah. I couldn’t disagree more. 456 didn’t kill fake marine guy because he had to or out of self defense, he killed him because he wanted, because he was projecting.

He had to kill someone or else he would be shot by the guards. He doesn’t want to kill anyone. If he has to pick, why not the one he blames for messing up his attack and getting his best friend killed right in front of him.
