“Doors and corners, kid. That’s where they get ya.” Love this episode, can’t wait to watch with yall later tonight

Golladan

It was Avasarala's (Chrisjen) idea to strike Deimos. Errinwright is a sneaky snake, but let's not put all the blame on him there.

Hans Engelen

Not gunna lie ... the glasses threw me off Pudgey... Anyways ... Here we go ... Expanse Time! As for the kid, he was the punk kid on Ceres stealing water that Miller let go. We saw him after when his uncle dumped him in space and attacked a Mars ship by throwing his rock load at them.

Drake

i was for 10 minutes "something is wrong here" until i realised it :) cool glasses :)

Ahupnatun

"stay away from the aqua" That kid is the one he confronted about stealing the water, he was also the one that was collecting rocks with his uncle and his uncle made him leave the ship into space and threw the rocks at the martian ship.

Ahupnatun

never mind, i forgot they explained it shortly after lol. They ended up finding out right after I typed that out

Joan Monroe

Alex and the Roci were made for each other. He defeated a stealth ship equipped with a rail gun. Way to go, flyboy. Too bad the Martian navy didn't realize your potential as a badass pilot.

hypocritex

The Butcher's "second in command" is one of the greatest characters in the show. In fact.. she's my favorite. She's a straight G.

Lyn Hurst

So glad to see you all enjoying this show. Some cool space stuff, battles, ships and potential extra solar beings. I like extra solar now that we are not dealing with Earth only and are not calling them extraterrestrials. I was surprised at Miller's decision to waste the scientist. I feel his spidey sense may have been up, and he may know something.

Drake

i find the question "why would miller do that" strange xD why would anyone NOT do this? Dresden is basicly Mengele, you dont talk to Mengele, you dont negotiate with Mengele and you for sure dont let Mengele live ... they talk their way out of everything like the real mengele who lived a nice long life in the end ... and miller KNEW that if he doesnt shot him know, dresden will get away he would get away with killing over 100.000 people in the most gruesom way because he had knowledge people would protect him for. if he wanted dresden to pay for julies death and the death of everyone else this was his one and only chance

Sheri

Tenye wa chesh gut! (Have a good hunt / Good hunting)

Sheri

The space battle in this episode is really well done. Heck... everything about this show is really well done, which is why it's in my top 5 of all time! So happy to see you both enjoying it as much as I did.

TM2

Because she's smart. She knew the other options would have been worse, so she provided one with minimal casualties that didn't expose her to Errinwright as his enemy. The admiral was moral but stupid, and now instead of being able to continue to carry his arguments, he's going to be out near Jupiter.

Golladan

You don't say good luck. You say...

John Neiberger

I freaking love this show. They get the space mechanics right, which makes their space battles that much more bad ass. It's hard not to love PDCs blasting like crazy.

Ryan

We see a new character in this episode who turns out to easily be one of my favorite characters of all time in any tv show. Can't wait for more!

Tony Camas

Also, his purported "justification" in which he claims he was trying to save everyone from an "enemy who has already fired the first shot" was a load of crap. Even if the Protomolecule were intentionally sent to hijack life on Earth using Phoebe as a delivery vehicle (and that's, at best, an educated guess), it was sent eons ago, back when life on Earth was thought to consist of "primordial soup," not human beings. If beings from far, far away really were attacking life on Earth (and that's a big if), their target was not today's Earth with today's inhabitants, it was prehistoric earth, and it was a long, *long* time ago.

Bill B.

Wow I never thought of it but that’s an excellent comparison, of Dresden to Mengele! I suppose that’s what the authors were intending, considering Dresden was a German city that got firebombed and basically destroyed in WWII. No one names a character “Dresden” by accident.

Bill B.

Camina Drummer! love her character!! I’d forgotten she was introduced this early!

Baron

If Amos is Spartan's favorite character I think Camina will be Pudgey's

Lindsay Mathieson

I dunno if anyone has mentioned it but the 2x4 & 2x5 episodes cover the end of Book 1 and you may want to do them as a two-parter. Or you could be evil and leave everyone on edge and hanging out at the end of 2x4 😁

AnastasiyaK

The space battle in this episode is amazing and its only a small taste of what’s yet to come in the rest of the show. I love that we get more backstory on Fred and what kind of person he is. Also you have now met his second-in-command, who you might wanna keep an eye on ;) Also, these first few episodes of season 2 are when I completely fell in love with Chrisjen. She is so freaking badass!

A L

It's a shame so many people can't keep their opinions about newly introduced characters to themselves. Do you not realize that saying someone is one of your favorite characters is still a spoiler? You're basically telling them that they'll be around for a while and that they're probably not going to be a bad guy.

wp3

Please do episodes 4 and 5 together as a bonus for us on Patreon! It's basically one long episode and is the ending of the first book.

Lindsay Mathieson

This, it is rather disappointing behaviour. Expanse fans are usually pretty good re spoilers.

Lindsay Mathieson

Re all the holes being poked in the Rocinate - its a tradeoff between armor and maneuverability, it takes a lot of armor to block PDC fire, which would add a lot of mass and reduce the ships acceleration, so small corvettes like the Rocinate trade armor for speed.

Joost

Seconded :)

Etta Eskridge

And just to add a little twist to this discussion the actor playing Dresden (Daniel Kash) was actually in Aliens a series of movies that the authors of the Expanse novels really loved.

Joan Monroe

What? How does enthusiasm for a new character tell anyone how long they'll be in the show or what their ultimate role will be? Some of my favorite characters on TV were in one or maybe a handful of episodes of a show.

Amber A

Yeah, Miller executing Dresden is because he knew he'd get away with the genocide on belters. More powerful interests would leverage their institutional resources and influence to gain access to the study, and Dresden would leverage his position to see no meaningful justice. The curiosity towards the protomolecule would render Eros a footnote, would erase Julie's sacrifice and efforts. No one with any power in the situation would care about the belters who were murdered and tortured and experimented on unwillingly, but it wouldn't matter, because mistreatment towards belters is the status quo, it wouldn't make waves. Like you said, there was no other option if he wanted Dresden to pay and see some form of justice, consequences be damned. The universe is better without them, simple as that.

David Perkins

for what it's worth, in my opinion Miller did the right thing. i won't elaborate to much so as not to give anything away for the next episode but i think his motivations were both morally and practically the best solution to the problem!

Tax2er

And exceptions prove the rule.

Tax2er

Not accurate with Dresdens justification. Dresden already knew that the Protomolecule does not act like the known physics, which is why every theory about when aliens would look at us, they would see the dinosaurs, is completely irrelevant, cause you just dont know shit at this point about what the civilization was able to do. So Dresdens theory about an enemy who fired the first shot is very valid. If they are able to produce the Protomolecule, then they are probably able to do so much more, opening wormholes, seeing the future, place it eons ago cause you want it to evolve when the human species arrives.

ElijahKovortu

Nah, heavily disagree about Miller's acitons. Because while Dresden may be an important factor in leading research on the protomolecule, he is only a pawn in the grand scheme of things. The one's who orchestrated these events in the first place are still out there, free to do more damage and cause even more deaths. They can always replace him with another scientist. And killing their only lead to the names of these individuals was both short-sighted and stupid.

dolo

You can't compare mengele with this guy. Mengele discovered nothing. And no, even mengele if you capture him you don't kill him, you make him talk before... Thank god our army don't think like you, because in France we would have 20 terrorist attack every year if we killed terrorists before making them talk.

dolo

1) you kill one guy and you're happy. 2) you make him talk and maybe save thousands of innocents. You chose "1" because of "the moral". Thank god our armies don't care about "the moral" (which is subjective btw) and prefer pragmatism and rationality.
