Loving these reactions! The next episodes are some of my favourites

DominaZeta

I love this episode for presenting totally valid arguments on both sides. It highlights for the audience how tough it would be to make this decision and live with the consequences either way. RIP Dale, our steady voice of reason and conscience.

Micah Mann

This show kicks you in the nuts when you least expect it. Such a rollercoaster of emotions. 💔

I’m not so sure that man was innocent of what he said his group did that he “didn’t take part in”. Just the way he says “real young, real cute” is unbelievably creepy and if what he says about his group was true then that’s more of a reason to kill him, you can’t risk those sort of men finding where the farm is because we know what they’d do to the women and the men would most likely just be killed.

macc61

R.I.P. Dale. They had a show after each twd called Talking Dead and it always had departing characters as star guests so fans can show their love. It made it easier for us viewers by getting to know the actors.

Fuzzy Dunlop

I'll never understand why Spartan loves Lori so much.

Montae Williams

I never notice before but Carl looks really creepy in the barn. Like The Omen creepy lol

Seb Tam

The thing is, Dale didn't had to die in this season, in the comic he dies until what would be the 5th season of the show, but they say the actor asked for his character to die in season 2 because he was a friend of the first season's producer, who stopped working on the show after season 1, so Dale's actor didn't want to keep working without his friend. Such a shame, such a great character, he was the heart of the group

Branden Findeisen

Fair has nothing to do with it. Shane only impregnated her (maybe) by lying to her in the first place; whether on purpose or not, it doesn't matter. It was under false pretenses. Not to mention the litany of other things. He doesn't deserve his feelings considered IMO.

Ирина Устюгова

It's Lori's decision. She decides who the father of her child is. I don't care who the real father is. All he did was cum inside her. She's the one who's going to be pregnant for 9 months in an apocalypse, and then give birth (without adequate medical care), risking her life. Surely, in a world with no laws and no legal way to resolve this issue, it's a woman's right to decide.

Julianjjz

just because you guys werent 100% sure at the end : scratch = dead

Ирина Устюгова

Also poor Dale. Probably my favorite character of season 2. Such a boss, not afraid to speak out about what he believed was right.

Mukatutu

The problem is, in a world where there are no laws and legal ways to resolve the issue, might = right. You say all he did was plant the seed but this is some kind of feminist argument that can only apply in a world where civilization exists and it's tolerated. You don't just get to bang multiple men and then decide who the father is willy nilly. In a lawless world those multiple men who want to be fathers will fight and kill for parentage because they believe they are the father. If Shane believes he planted the seed then to him that child is part his and part Lori's. This isn't even just one individuals delusion, Lori knows that they banged. The whole "It's ricks" thing is just a 'the moment rick came back to life she became his wife again'. Yes, Lori will have the responsibility of carrying the child in the apocalypse, give birth, and risk her life, but the father, if a responsible one, will have to take part in protecting the mother and ensuring her safety. Don't get me wrong, I also believe that the moment Rick 'came back to life' all relations between Shane and Lori had to end. Regardless of whose baby it actually is, that is Rick's wife, that is Rick's child. According to both Rick and Lori. But it has nothing to do with it being her sole 'right'. In this lawless world Rick is enforcing that right of choice. Because if Shane decided to murder both Rick and Lori after she gives birth, the law of lawlessness dictates that Shane can become the father if he so pleases. But that is only if he successfully does that. Rights only exist when there is a party to enforce those rights, if not they are just imaginary beliefs.

Ирина Устюгова

But she CAN choose and she did. And after she chose, Rick can, like you said, force that choice. It happened in that order, she told Rick he was the father and then Rick fought for it. And Shane has to live with that. She chose the man she felt was best suited to protect her and her newborn baby. Her choice matters not because she can force it on others, but because she is the only person who can bring this baby into existence. And let's not forget that they are in a group. No one is going to let Shane kill the baby's mother just because he wants to be a dad. Yes, they don't live in a modern world and feminism doesn't matter to them. But the idea of a mother deciding who the father of a child is as old as time and has been around long before the feminist movement.

AngryPanda

"Does that infect him" and Pudgey's reaction made me laugh so hard I almost got fired

Skully

I still don't get why he would tell him that story. It was pretty obvious that it would just make him more angry on their group and that he would let it out on him.

William Staggs

It just goes to show what great story writing + great acting can achieve. IMO there is a big gap between shows like Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, Lost and all the other shows that don't have one or the other or both.

Bradley

I mean we have no way of knowing, but I viewed it as him throwing that comment out there to see how Daryl took it, as in whether Daryl would be interested in being part of a group like that but once he saw Daryl’s reaction he knew the answer immediately which is why he was all like “but not me I never touched her” or something to that effect.

Demented Avenger

Always hated this episode. Carl being a little shitty moron. Dale dying because of it. Dale was a G in the comics and he goes like this. The writing in this episode is so contrived. It's like they couldn't have two old moral compasses so they had to kill one of them off.

Ludus Aurea

I did t realize this was dales death, I thought that was in 2x12 better angels. Jeffrey DeMunn was fantastic in this show. He died a few years back I think but he was a great actor in everything.

Ludus Aurea

Dale was the only moral compass. Herschel not really.

Ty

Dale’s actor wanted to leave the show after his friend Frank was no longer running it. Didn’t have anything to do with the character itself.

PostMan

Ya the behind the scenes drama with seasons 1 and 2 with the director, actors and AMC (the channel/execs who oversaw the show) is really interesting and sad.

Jay

Ugh I wish I could comment pictures so bad. So fun story, I once met the actors for Daryl, Lori, Hershel (RIP Scott Wilson) Shane, Axel (season 3 character) and Carl once at a Walker Stalker Con, and let me tell you they were some of the humblest, kindest, fan loving humans I’ve ever met. Norman Reedus (Daryl) told me I have a pretty name (sigh, my name is Jayla) and signed his picture with his name, my name and a heart next to it, while my dad got Daryl’s autograph on a picture from his movie The Boondock Saints (which I highly recommend). Lori was so kind and wrote me a sweet little note. I was a bit scared to meet Shane (Jon Bernthal) but of course he was super chill, Hershel (Scott Wilson) was just so gentle and so humble, I met him after I had half my face painted like a zombie because I was at walker con of course and he loved it 🤣, and Carl (Chandler Riggs) and Axel (Lew Temple) were also just super chill happy to be there it was a great day. Love love love the reactions I didn’t expect this series from you guys but I am so glad it’s happening!!! thank you!

SteelCurtain

The actor that -layer Dale wanted to leave the show so he was killed off

Storm

Poor Dale, he was such a moral light in the darkness. And poor Carl…

Becca

At this point

Kathryn Callahan

Did they just forget about the attempted rape? Like wut? And holding a gun to his best friend? I’m so confused on how they still are obsessed with the dude…

Al

The scene with Dale confronting the entire group about not killing the prisoner is one of the best scenes of the series. There is more going on underneath the surface than just deciding the fate of the kid. It was the acknowledgement that the world they lived in was one where morals have changed and it is survival of the fittest. Dale was not meant to live in that kind of world. I have never forgotten the performance of Dale by Jeff Mund. Dale was a salt of the Earth old man who had experienced enough to know what was right for him to exist. Tremendous episode. RIP DALE
