Bruh! Come on, Spartan! Maeve is the best character on the show by far 😆 🤣. She's coming into herself with these new abilities. Each host, Bernard... Maeve... Dolores. All of them are on spiritual journeys in the breakdown of their bicameral minds. The characters? As they are now? Yeah... just wait until the end of the season 😆 🤣 😂

The reason the tech is letting Maeve get away with so much is because he is confused, as you guys are, he can’t tell if she is real or not. He obviously thinks she has evolved some kind of consciousness, so like any person, he feels bad for caging her. It seems unrealistic but when you think about it it’s not. And the red head dude is just waiting to “brick her”. Also, some other things come to light in the last two episodes that explain why the security might be a bit lax, ;). All will be revealed. In time.

A lot of the characters are struggling with the question, are the hosts real or not? Alive or just a fancy imitation of life? It’s the main question of the season. So a lot of the “weird” things that happen, and the strange ways the humans are acting is all just them struggling with that question. The show is great because it makes you question those things as well. Like I said, it’s brilliant

I definitely understand why some of those moments between her and the techs could feel weird. Especially when you don’t know the full story of the season. I think he will have a different opinion after the next few episodes. I remember thinking the same things until I understood what was actually going on behind the scenes at WW.

Surprising Spartan doesn't get what the show is trying to convey. If Maeve was a dude with big muscles he'd be squealing ooohh what a badass!

Interesting you think the tech’s empathy is a weakness? He doesn’t want to kill or decommission her because he recognizes that she has developed some form of consciousness and “bricking” her would be murder essentially because he views her as human which he should because she is one in all intents and purposes at this point in the story?? I don’t understand how you guys are nearly at the end of the season and still haven’t come to terms with the central theme of the show.

💯 I see not much has changed in that way on this channel since the last time I was a Patron

and the tech scenes may seem unrealistic but that’s because you’re viewing them from the wrong perspective. You think they are acting out of fear but it’s more than that. The red haired guy IS acting out of fear, yes, fear of the immediate danger Maeve presents but, like you said before, they could just tell someone higher up. The real fear he is operating under is towards the other tech because he has the ability to blackmail him (based on the footage of him violating the hosts) and effect his real life even when Maeve is not a threat. So he is forced to go along with him. The other tech is operating by his own motivations which are different. He is not operating out of fear but out of empathy, he is grappling with the realization that Maeve is sentient and essentially a prisoner and therefore deserves salvation and liberation. When you realize the two different motivations at play it makes a lot more sense how things were able to get that far. And why the other tech would “betray” the red head tech.

Gummybear

“So Maeve’s been a problem for a while” is Spartans takeaway to Maeve literally experiencing such intense grief that it literally shattered her mind and allowed her to override her system settings to the point she was able to kill herself……..

I feel like you misunderstand the "programming". the hosts emotions are not programmed. Their ABILITY to experience emotions is what is programmed but the emotions themselves are real emotions which is why they are so realistic because they literally are feeling those things as a normal human would. The fact that they can be compelled to "turn off" their emotions doesn't make them not real, it just means they are artificially suppressed. We know this because we've seen them fighting through the suppression before in little ways. The only thing the hosts lacked was free will and a subconscious which is what they are developing. With that what is the remaining distinction between them and humans??? Even when it comes to their personality traits which are "programmed" there is the argument of nature vs nurture and where do our inherent characteristics come from? Many believe our personalities are determined by our dna which is essentially coding as well. So in that sense we are also pre programmed to an extent. The hosts have evolved BEYOND their programming that's literally the whole point and the point of most sci-fi media. Im confused especially since you have referenced things like Detroit become human. Did you also not feel for the AI species in that game?

Firstly sir, you need to calm down a bit i see you getting very passionately condescending in multiple comments when you're not understanding my perspective at all. if you listen to my discussions, i am still unsure on how much of them is a programmed robot vs free will and genuine consciousness, which is a pretty fair perspective from what i have seen so far and what has been discussed. all these accusations you are throwing about "this channel hasn't changed much" etc. is unnecessary, i clearly dont condone the behaviour but my premise of thinking thus far is that IF these are just programmed robots they should be shut down and not allowed to kill humans. i don't agree with how they are treated, but they aren't actually sentient. now if it turns out they experience genuine consciousness, then perhaps my opinion will change. the premise for the red hair guy shutting her down is she is not born she is made, and from my understanding so far not truly alive but very life like. in that situation, she should be shut down before she hurts someone, yes. if a robot at the amusement park starting attacking you would you want it to run free? or be fixed. im not looking at Maeve as though she is a human, because she isn't a human. her level of consciousness and sentience i will decide from my own interpretation as we progress forward. you are welcome to disagree and debate that, but no need to hurl insults because someone has interpreted the material differently

Give him some time, he'll understand what the show is trying to do eventually, he usually does.
