And this episode is the epitome of why I don't really like this season much. Because of Murtry. He is so clearly evil, almost cartoonishly so. And NOBODY does anything about it throughout the whole season. Nobody on his side even questions his actions. Then on top of that you have Wei. Who has grown closer to Amos. Who constantly has a face that seems to say "what we're doing is wrong." And in the end she still... sides with Murtry.

Fantastic season. It was such a change of pace that I initially didn't find very captivating, but episode 9 and 10 are just wonderful. I found the book this season is based on to be far more interesting it really dives into the tribal nature's of people and how easy it is to fall into an us vs them mentally.

That stuff flying around wasn't an attack. It was nanotech generally used to build or fix things by the protomolecule and Miller was using it to build a physical structure so he could interact with the command center, or whatever it's called. Can't wait for Season 5. It's epic!

I mean, plenty of people try to do something about it. Pretty much everyone outside of RCE tries to do something about it in their own way. even the science team. But assuming you mean that no one on RCE does anything about it, you have to remember that their actions stem from the initial shuttle attack. The show/ book isn't particularly subtle with the police metaphors with RCE, and in real life we often see and hear about this kind closing of ranks when someone in that group is attacked. It's easy to justify your misconduct when you reason to yourself that you are only doing it because you were attacked first. Wei never seemed particularly disturbed by what they were doing. Especially since the only ones they were killing was the Belters that attacked their shuttle. Her crisis of conscious is more specifically to Amos, and ultimately she knows Murtry longer and better. It's also not that she chooses Murtry over Amos. She was still trying to negotiate with Amos to have him side with her, it's just that Amos knew how that conversation was going to go, and in typical Amos fashion cuts to the end. Personally this is a top 5 episode of the series for me.

No, nobody did. Not RCE. Not Holden. Not the belters. Holden got angry, and that's about it. Some belters came up with a half-assed plan, but still did nothing. Murtry was allowed to have free rein the entire time. Book handles this quite differently. For starters, the Belters do more than blow up the landing pad. And has a PoV on the RCE in Havelock, who actually comes to the realization that he's on the wrong side.

I agree. He's not a well-written character at all, and the actor kind of leans into the cartoonish nature too hard. He might as well have a mustache he can twirl while he speaks about his evil plots.

So many good scenes this episode. Holden & Miller’s goodbye 😭 and Amos doing whatever to protect Holden. Love my crew man. And finally the scene with Murtry and Holden. Unlike others I thought Murtry was well written. He’s supposed to be the bad guy. It’s pretty cut & dry and I buy it.

I agree that Murtry almost feels cartoonishly evil BUT unfortunately there ARE people just like this in real life. Just imagine the clown racist for instance, these people run an automated hatred as absolutely stupid it seems to be racist in 2025. Give those people a listen. Now add $$$ motive to the mix and a hatred for Belters and you'll easily have a Murtry in this life. You call out Wei for being so dumb with following Murtry BUT again, you have followers of this nature as well. How many events have had a person you'd think knows damn well the person they're supporting is dead wrong but yet they support them. Just think about relatives and friends of criminals. To the normal person there would be absolutely no doubt the person was in the wrong BUT these people will not only support that criminal but act like their relative or friend is the victim. They'll actually go after the actual victim in the event. Seen it 1000s of times so Wei is not far fetched at all but I can get how these character can be so frustrating. Just another reason why I LOVE this show because it stays REALISTIC with inter-personal dynamics. Wei had been working with Murtry far longer than she was in a relationship with Amos. You can't expect that somehow the new would break through the old. This is true to real life though of course we all hate seeing it.

Been waiting for you two to get to this episode! I know S4 has been a slower build up (reminds me of S1 where things came in like a storm the last three episodes). Now time for the Finale and I know it's going to hit you two just as this one did. 4x9 + 4x10 feel like a two part finale. And then comes the insanity of S5!

I think both Elvi and Fayez try to do something. So does Naomi. Holden punches him in the face. Carol Chewewe argues with him at every turn. Its hard for people to gauge how evil and greedy he really is.
