Big Oof for Alex! (On the show) lol

So the guy who played Alex (Cas Anver) was accused of multiple accounts s—ual harassment and the producers decided to write him out of the show at the end of this season. Regardless of what in real life happened this episode was heartbreaking.

Though loosing Alex the character hit hard, it was the right move. The allegations were investigated and though we don’t know the exact results, it did conclude with Cas Anvar being fired. Because everything had already been filmed and they were in post production, they had to quickly make a decision how they were going to handle the character. It would have been worse if they had tried to recast the character for the final season. Also, his death is technically a different characters death in the book. So it kind of fit. They have talked about it being a risk, every time they fly in high g’s, this is just the first time it’s affected our main characters.

yeah when the stuff with Cas Anvar kicked off the producers made a point of saying they had filmed everything for the season already but they were choosing to not film with him at all anymore. Which is why it was abrupt because they were trying to make a death out of what they had already filmed for Alex.

The Cas Anvar exit is jarring but in a show with stakes and many reminders of the dangers of high g manouvers its logically understandable after all the high g flying that it eventually claimed one of our main protaganists. As an expanse superfan I wish that the situation didn't lead to this result however I think in such difficult circumstances the writer and editors did a good job of handling Alex's death with the limited material they had on file. As for Cas like what a stupid thing to do and the studio acted in the best way possible, but as a fan I can't help to be sad how it all went down.

The Dawes character would’ve had a small role for next season, according to the books, but that’s really the end of that character’s story anyway. Better for the actor to have done Foundation.
