[Comment Sad] Getting down to the last bits. Foundation next for some more Jared Harris (and Lee Pace, in a brilliant role no less)

Golladan

Opening change: Progress continues on what is happening at the Ring Station, which we learn this episode was the addition of rail guns.

Golladan

Gotta admit, though. If the MCRN hadn't done their assault on the Ring, we wouldn't have known about the rail guns. Elvi Okoye cameo!

Isn't it something that this all started because a man who wanted no real responsibilities made himself responsible for a stranger which kickstarted an adventure he could never imagine! This penultimate episode was good in how it seemed to hit a lot of "good byes" between characters. It also hit the peak of emotions of where all the characters are at at this point in all this. Now comes the series finale and OMFG I can't wait to see you two take on the episode that's about to floor the hell out of you two! It's such an awesome thing but also sad place to reach the end of this beautiful series!

Tony Camas

I don't know what Pudgey has been smoking, but I could use some right about now. 🤣 On a more serious note, it's hard not to feel for Camina Drummer in this episode. She's been through so much emotional torture over the last two seasons of this show, and yet she's still trying to do the right thing for her people, and even for humanity in general. When she broke down in Naomi's arms, man, I felt that. But no matter what, she keeps bouncing back. The world needs more Drummers. Certainly needs them in the time of The Expanse, and honestly, we could use a few more nowadays, too. Drummer restores my faith in humanity. What Bobbie said to Amos during their heart to heart, this is something you'll regularly hear from military people who've seen combat. War is a terrible thing, and it's never going to be something that doesn't cost someone, often someone who doesn't deserve it. But in the heat of battle, you can only be effective if you think of it in terms of keeping your friends -- your squad, your company, your platoon -- alive and out of harm's way. Away from the battlefront, you can think about what's right and what's wrong and the larger political and moral and societal issues. But when you're "in the shit," as Bobbie says, you need to stay focused on the task at hand and the lives and safety of those around you. It's the only way to move forward. The interesting thing about this is that, I think, if you had this conversation with Season 1 or Season 2 Amos, he might well have made that argument himself. Amos was practical back then, didn't really focus on morality. He just focused on self-preservation and on the health and life of his "tribe." But now, he's grown. Emotionally and morally, Amos has become more sophisticated, more empathetic, more thoughtful. This has made him a better person, but ironically, it's probably made him not as good a soldier as he was before. So hearing Bobbie break it down like that probably reminded him of what he used to know. We can only hope that over time, Amos learns to balance the moral with the practical, to keep improving as a person while he maintains the fighting spirit that got him here.

Oh boy can't wait for the finale. It's a banger! I'd love for Spartan to do a review/discussion after he finishes the books. I've really enjoyed this journey with you both!

It's sad to see that we're close to the end. This show is so ridiculously good. Easily one of the best scifi shows ever. It's #1 for me. The characters and acting are really special.

Michael

It's in-line with Amos' character decisions throughout the show to question whether to remain. Holden is his moral compass and you can definitely argue that, objectively, not killing Marco and Philip wasn't the right decision. This is just another "Naomi sends the protomolecule to Fred" scenario where the team needs to reorient based on a decision and learn to support each other and their decisions, especially if there's a morally grey reason for it. That's what Bobbie was getting at; having your family's back is what it comes down to which is enough for Amos.

The Expanse finale, in my opinion, is the absolute BEST finale in television history so far. I also got a kick out of the easter eggs in it, which could be fun for you to look for when you get the chance after watching. Looking forward to seeing the next reaction!!!

Gail Ferguson

I agree! This is #1 for me as well. The other is Battlestar Galactica (the latter version!).

Shawn Anomaly

1x4, 5x4, 6x6 for me are the best and insane episodes of tv I have ever watched. Episodes so good they felt like mini-movies that could easily be watched in a theater! I agree with you that the series finale is the best series finale I've ever watched with of course the series being the best series I've ever watched regardless of genre!

Etta Eskridge

REgarding following seasons, Amazon owns the rights but that ownership is expiring and leaves Alcon free to shop around for someone to take over the final three seasons. It is not for sure but this remains one of the most loved scifi shows of all time and the cast I believe would love to be able to complete the story. It would be truly amazing to see the next three books put to screen. I have supported more than 100 reactors at this point as the only way I can continue to show my support to this show. It is amazing and I am so glad you found this show!!

Trepanation21

In my experience, this series (novels, to include their novellas between each) is one of the very few series that not only sticks the landing in the final book, but it feels like the story gets *better* as the series goes on. Really strong work from Ty Franck and Daniel Abraham in constructing all of this. And given the amount of writing (9 books, and individual novellas between/after each), it never felt to me like the writing quality ever dipped. If you're into the universe of The Expanse, you've got to dig in! I'm as excited as I am nervous for the end of the series, it's been a real joy to re-watch it with you two first-timers! I'm so glad it's landed as well as it has with you two. Both of you are completely invested, and connected to the story. I really can't wait to see what you think of the series after reading the books, with the show closing out three books before the story's conclusion! Ahhhh! Edit: AND BRUH, PUDGIE'S BREAKDOWN ABOUT THE IMAGINARY BURPING AT 59:50 LMAOOOOO WTH LOL

Trepanation21

Imagine the possible outcomes of every fork in the road if Holden had never taken that job. The branching consequences of every faction's steps and reactions -- just based off what we know of the scope of things! Wild.

Shawn Anomaly

Since you've read the books I have to ask, how do the last three stack up against the six seasons? If they were to end up individual seasons where would you think they'd rank in comparison? I have not read the books as I'm holding out hope of being surprised if a S7-S9 ever come out!

Shawn Anomaly

Geez, that is wild once you give it some thought which I never have until your comment! It is insane to think where everything could've ended up without Holden's one choice he made since he couldn't shake the call for help!

David Seeholzer

For anyone who has enjoyed the series, I highly recommend reading the books and novelas. While there are some differences between books and shows, the show was remarkably faithful to the written stories. And the writing in all of the books is superb. I read all of the books after finishing watching the series and thoroughly enjoyed books 7-9. Given the uncertainty about getting more seasons of the show, I would encourage reading those books. If we are ever blessed with more seasons of the show, I think that having read the books will not diminish it at all.

Lindsay Mathieson

Probably to late as I imagine you've already watched it, but for the final episode its important to watch the closing outro! its significant.

Lauren

Well said!
