And so it begins, if I remember correctly, season five is when TWD became the most popular show on TV, and a few of the highest rated episodes are around the corner. I believe this one was in the top five, but I could be wrong. Anyways, you two are in the thick of it, enjoy.

I'm pretty sure the smoke and fire Mika was talking about is the house that Daryl and Beth burned down. I thought that was a little easter egg hinting they are not far from each other.

I do very much agree with you about Jon Bernthal. He's always so amazing in anything he's in. I highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend watching The Punisher. I'm not big into the whole Marvel thing, but I watched The Punisher solely based on my love for Jon Bernthal in TWD and I LOVED it! Also, Terminus would not want to keep around a strong group that could potentially take them over again, thus they become the food.

I second that. Honestly I have zero interest in superhero/Marvel stuff but I freaking LOVED the Punisher!! Only reason I even watched it was Jon Bernthal.

This was the episode that catapulted Carol into one of my favorite characters. S1, she somewhat annoyed me, but she gradually turned into an amazing character with a lot of strength and depth. The first thing she grabbed when she went into that room was Rick's watch and then Daryl's bow. As you mentioned, this was also the transformation from Rick taking on more of Shane's characteristics. Killing a man by biting through his neck to protect your son and friend from getting raped will change a person. The incident at Terminus just cemented the transformation.

He's probably my favorite "second teir" actor, everything he does is amazing, and everything he does is to the max. I watched his interview with Joe Rogan, and it makes sense ... he chose the most difficult way to become an actor. And then doubled down lol ... he's a legend. Imagine being Shane and the Punisher ... what a dude.

shane was way ahead of his time and i believe he was at the level season 5 rick is at but his downfall was being too emotional, his love for lori and need for a family blinded him and made him dangerous. I think Rick is a more complete Shane that has love for his family and will do whatever it takes to protect them

Just some fun trivia the lady fighting Carol Denise Crosby was pretty famous in tv land for playing Natasha Yar in Star Trek TNG. Also there’s a webisode series about the red machete.

Yeah, Shane was amped up to 11 from the get. It served him well from a survival perspective, but he lacked the stable foundation that Rick had. Rick wouldn't have been so quick to shoot Otis. In that situation, I could see him asking for the supplies as a way to help Otis run, not purposely shooting him to be used as zombie fodder. Even in his current state, Rick was able to hear Glenn when he appealed to Rick's humanity to open the other boxcar. It might not have been the best decision (given who was locked inside), but from everything they knew about Terminus, it was the right decision. It could have just as likely been a group similar to their own. Shane was impulsive. Impulsivity can be useful in a survival situation, but it can also be stupid. That said, Shane wouldn't have hesitated to kill the Governor. He would eliminate any potential threat (he would have made sure that everyone from Terminus was dead).

A cool detail about the reunion with Judith/Rick and Sasha/Tyrese is when it shows Rick kissing Judith it cuts to Michonne and Carol who never got to reunite with their children and after showing Tyrese and Sasha it’s shows Daryl who lost a sibling and didn’t get to see Merle again :(
