Y’all really made my day with this reaction ❤️ and I think it was Daryl that had the book on childhood trauma? I could be wrong but they really are the perfect pair.. they are both victims of abuse and it’s great to see them realizing it wasn’t their fault. Beautiful episode.

Great reaction. I agree it's a lovely episode, focussing on building character and character bonds. The joys of longer seasons that got to do this. By the way, it was Daryl who had taken the childhood trauma book from the desk and put it in his bag. Makes sense as we know he was physically abused by his father. Carol had taken a copy of Tom Sawyer, which she'd been reading to the girls at the prison, but had lost.

It’s a toss up about whether they hit Carol on purpose or not. On one hand if they injure people they find on the road they get more people to work for them. On the other hand everyone drives like they don’t expect anything or anyone to cross their path for miles or like ever so you would likely be going too fast to stop for someone suddenly running out into the road.

I always thought it was Carol who took the book. When they're leaving the shelter, they show her having a hard time closing her backpack cause she's squeezing a big book in it. I think she took it to read so that she could help Daryl, since he was abused as a child. Then, when Daryl sees it in her backpack, he's annoyed/embarrassed because he knows why she took it. That's just my take.. could be wrong

Fun facts below; I was super impressed when Pudgey thought it could be Noah with Daryl in the bushes. Props. --- To be fair. It's totally possible for someone to pour gasoline on themselves and light themselves on fire, it was just the dragged blood stains that didn't fit the theory. I've never watched Dexter but hopefully that show helps give yall a deeper understanding of forensics, lol idk if it will or does as I said, never watched it before but I know he works in forensics 🩸👀 ------- Consumed; Trivia & Fun facts Fire Symbolism: There are 10 fires shown throughout the episode, often associated with Carol's emotional state or her "burning away" her past selves. Carol lights most of the fires in the flashbacks, while Daryl lights the fires in the present. The Book Daryl Takes: Daryl takes a book titled Treating Survivors of Childhood Abuse from the shelter, a quiet nod to his own abusive upbringing. (Daryl not only took the book! but with pencils, and some fans even think he was gunna take notes but ended up having to burn the notepad) Van Scene Inaccuracy: Many fans and critics pointed out that the scene where the van falls off the bridge and lands upright is physically unrealistic, despite being a tense moment. (The van scene is a complete fuxk you to physics. It 100% should have landed on its nose or flipped over. And I don't know why that bothers me so much in a show about walking dead ppl lol🤨🫣) Mirroring the Pilot: The scene where Carol and Daryl drive into Atlanta on Interstate 85 is a direct, mirrored parallel to the iconic scene in the series pilot ("Days Gone Bye") where Rick enters the city on horseback. Unused "F-Bomb": Daryl says "Fuck the way it was" in this episode. It was muted for the television broadcast but is audible in the DVD and Blu-Ray releases. Flashback Heavy: The episode features nods or flashbacks to nine previous episodes, including "Days Gone Bye," "The Grove," and "No Sanctuary".

Carol didn't necessarily light all the fires in the flashbacks. The first one, the prison, she didn't light, the one that was burning while she was burying Lizzie and Mika was actually lit by Daryl and Beth. Also, it was Carol that took that book on childhood trauma.... we seen her putting it in her bag... Daryl wasn't impressed when he saw it fall out of her bag which is why he tossed it aside.

I don't think Daryl was actually going to leave Noah to die.... I think he was pushing Carol, showing her who she is... because she isn't burnt away.... she is still in there and he knew that.

I'm so glad they changed Carol's story line from the Comics. In the comics she lets herself get bit in the prison after... you sitting down... Tyreese cheats on her with Michonne LOL

They absolutely hit Carol on purpose lol. I hate this entire part of Season 5. Sooo whack. Like the first time I watched, it was cool. But the many times I rewatch. It was sooo whack.
