This means you will need to sync up your copy of the show again, if we are unable to edit these cuts seamlessly into the next scene. An updated timecode will be provided on the screen.  Anytime we pause, there will be timer/countdown on screen to prompt you. So if we’re about to pause, there’ll be a countdown, and you are expected to pause as the number reaches 0. The same will happen when we press play after pausing. The plot thickens. Just wanted to mention, Dexter's bio father would not have been allowed to contact him. Once a child is given up for adoption, the bio parents ars not allowed to try to find them for many reasons, mainly to protect the child. If a child later on possibly after turning 18 wants to find their bio family, they can try to find them. I have a friend who didn't know she was adopted until she was 40. Her adoptive parents didn't tell her until then. The cool thing is she got to meet some of her siblings. Her bio mom was still messed up on drugs and had had kids with 5 different partners. They met, but she was just a shell of a person and had no interest in connecting with my friend. But at least she had siblings she connected with.

When Spartan said “Debra is an annoying sister”, I felt that

Romeo Livingston

Man she gets on my nerves. 🤦🏽‍♂️🤣

Sean

Oh thank god I’m not the only one

David Cansler

Deb can definitely be annoying. An acquired taste. But I have to say I loved the dance scene. Probably because Slow Ride by Foghat is my era. And buh bye old lady. Should have just let the "cableman" be.

hypocritex

Deb was angry because she is protective of him. She didn't want him to end up being hurt. She is VERY protective of Dexter. She wasn't really making it about her.. as much as she was protecting Dexter and the legacy of their Dad. So I guess it was about protecting her father and Dexter. I don't think Deb was as much worried about herself here.

Hank Scorpio

It had nothing to do with "protecting" Dexter. Debra has major daddy issues and she ridiculously perceived Dexter being curious about his bio dad as some slight to Harry. (again because she has daddy issues and she overcompensating because of it) its as simple as that.

Marcus Sjölander

If it's about protecting Dexter, then why is she the one that's hurt?

Marcus Sjölander

That's how she is justifying it. That's her rationality. But it's not the underlying reason. Her response doesn't fit with the rationality.

hypocritex

She's hurt because he is looking into something that could potentially tarnish the memory of her father. I said at the end of the post that it was as much about protecting the legacy of her father.

Is this your first time watching or no? I think she is pretty annoying first season. They really try and do the whole young immature cop sister that's starting to rise through the ranks but has some lessons to learn from professionalism and procedure to office politics to handling emotional situations better. Didn't mind her after seaoson 1 most times.

Sean

I’ve probably watched the show about 4 times, so no

Artanis

I would argue the music was actually very appropriate. They were dancing to his father's music, it's almost a celebration of things his father enjoyed and valued. Everyone was having a fun time with that, including Rita. Dexter didn't know how to handle that because of his nature. Just like how he found something else to do instead of dancing because he is horrible at it and doesn't understand that social ritual because of his nature. But I do get what angle you were coming from, and it it was some random music or something I'd agree.

Artanis

Debra pretty much explains why she was acting that way, there's more to it that comes up later in the show that further makes this reaction of hers more understandable, but I think the overall point which these two agreed with was that the reasoning was understandable but the reaction itself, the way she handled it and brought it up, was not good or very productive. It was about Dexter, and her and her family history and dynamic. Dexter got all the attention, Debra puts her father in a pedestal. You have these two things coming to the forefront after an entire childhood of that by making her feel like Dexter is not valuing those things, and also pulling away from their family in a way, and she has a distressed reaction to that because it recontextualizes a huge part of her life and some of her main motivators in life in a more negative way. Calling her dads actions into question, calling Harry's place into question, calling their family dynamic and history into question.

I really am enjoying this way more than I thought I would. I thought it may be too easy to predict or standard police procedural with a twist in Dexter being a serial killer. Glad you talked about how good it is.

DRIP DROP

Nice glad you are enjoying it! It gets really good in these next few seasons youre in for a surprise

The Nothing Archives

Hey guys, did anyone have an issue where the last 5 to 6 scenes on Prime are cut? my stream stopped when Dexter as a kid throws the drawing in the trash, no scene with Rudy visiting the old lady, or Rita hitting Paul, WTF?

hypocritex

I would agree it was a combination of things.

Jack Mingle

I couldn't help but curl over in laughter at Pudgey's very confident assertion that Dexter's Laboratory was based on Dexter the Serial killer. That honestly was golden especially after the super Locked-in Intro.

m ak

So how do I hear the episode?

Zane Platt

The reason Deb is written and performed as being a very emotional, volatile person is because it contrasts with Dexter who is the opposite
