Hey S&P Fam,

a community member 'Jonathananonny' reached our to us on Discord and shared this cool extention they created to help you sync up your show with our uncut reactions, see below:

" I Created a Chrome extension to help watch reaction videos (free, no ads, no account required.) Made it to solve the problem for myself, but I imagine it could be useful to others as well. You still have to manually line the videos up, but once you do the extension will keep both videos synced up when you play/pause, move around in the video, etc (can also pick up where you left off if you close the windows.) Also supports videos that need to be slowed down/sped up, so you can choose the correct speed in the extension, and the syncing logic will still work. Should support most streaming services, as long as there's no weird UI and the page uses a normal HTML5 video tag "

Sneaky

What a madlad. hail Jonathan!

Ahmed J

All hail Johnny dog!!

Andrew R

I thought maybe he pirated this from Ben from Popcorn in Bed but theirs doesn't require a manual sync, I don't think.

Jack Mingle

Having to pull a uncut and edit the speed by actual micro amounts was annoying, especially when some formats of shows are about 1 minute slower or faster.

spartanandpudgey

its very rare that shows were out of sync, this just happened with a couple of HBO shows before Australia had HBO. 99% of our shows dont require speed adjustments

Kevin

I'd be interested to know where Ben let people know about his extension.

Syd Acosta

why am I not able to watch the full uncut reactions now? only shows me edited youtube reactions

spartanandpudgey

you should be able to see both? on the home screen otherwise go to 'collections' and fine the playlist for the uncut series you want and they should be available

Vigorous Strongs

Besides this extension, what other extensions are there to check out and see which one really fits and works?

spartanandpudgey

in our uncut video descriptions we have all our suggested options

Jonathan

Haha, no I definitely did not do that. I don’t know who or what that is. But no, that’s what I did. I could share the source code to prove it… but I don’t think there’s anything I really need to prove since I’m not trying to profit from this. But if this other extension doesn’t require a manual sync, that would likely only be for this specific reactor and certain source videos they manually choose to accommodate.

Jonathan

If anyone has any issues or requests let me know. For my own needs I’m not sure what else I could do, but I’m happy to implement any feature requests.

Jack Mingle

Has to mostly do with how PAL versus NTSC and respective Framerates and refresh rates. I don't think though syncing issues like this happen very much though for reactions (except older tv it seems) Modern streaming tends to mostly remove this issue NTSC versions of Doctor who are about 4% slower than UK broadcast versions is a prominent example I've dealt with lol

Saint

Is there any way it could get firefox support? Love the idea, obviously if that requires real work then no worries lol.

MO

dont need to edit the speed by micro amounts. It was either 0.96 or 1/0.96=1.0416. One of these two always worked almost perfect

tstav

completely off topic but what happened to the uncut earlier episodes of the boys?

Jonathan

Hmm, yeah, I could look into that. I believe they have a similar extension framework.

Jonathan

There’s a few others, but I wasn’t able to find any with a really good user experience.

Joe Fortnite

or you could just download chrome

Sean

Is it possible to get a quick description of how this works? I’m on iPhone I’ve added the extension “to my desktop” as it says. What exactly am I meant to do? Open the reaction video with google chrome somehow? Open the show on the given streaming service? I’m not getting the details of this

Jonathan

Basically you open both videos side by side, click the extension's action button on either, correctly identify which is the main video and which is the reaction, and then click the "Join" button on the other video. Once the videos are synced up manually (still have to do that part) click the "Save" button in the main video's toolbar, and now both videos should stay in sync as pause/play, move around in the videos, etc. You can turn off the automatic mirroring feature, which will allow the videos to get out of sync, but you can still force a manual sync by clicking the "Sync" button in either video (it would sync the other video to that spot.)

K

Not sure they did uncut episodes back then?

spartanandpudgey

we werent doing uncuts back then it was before patreon unfortunately and we didnt have the footage saved to make them

Jin

This is awesome!

HEY..Does this extension sync and split two videos or screens in a single tab or just sync but play videos on two different tabs.....i can sync two different tabs only....hope you understood my question.

Jonathan

Syncs videos on two different tabs. Do you have a use case for syncing two videos in the same tab?
