Carol & maggie ep LETS GOOOO

DRIP DROP

LES FUCKIN GO NOW

Gypsysoul

What do you think Rick would have done moving forward if it was Paula and Michelle who killed Carol and Maggie?? 🫠 This is one of my personal favourite episodes. The direct parallel story-telling of how and where we end up is magnificent imho. 6x13 episode fun trivia facts Paula's Story: The antagonist Paula tells Carol a metaphorical story about a carrot, an egg, and coffee beans to illustrate how people react to adversity, with Carol fearing she is becoming the "egg" (hardening like her) while Paula sees herself as the coffee. Carol's Duality: Carol pretends to be weak and religious, even clutching a rosary and hyperventilating, to lower her captors' guards, only to sharpen her crucifix and escape when they are least expecting it. Rick's Brutality: In a parallel scene, Rick Grimes executes a captured Savior named Primo point-blank after Primo claims to be Negan, shocking Carol and reinforcing the theme that both groups are becoming the same type of killers. Maggie's Protection: During her interrogation/fightback, a Savior Michelle slashes at Maggie's belly believing she is lying about her pregnancy, prompting Carol to immediately kill the attacker with a gun, marking a shift in her willingness to use lethal force. The Slaughterhouse Escape: Carol and Maggie lure Paula's backup group into a room filled with gasoline and walkers, trapping them inside and burning them alive to secure their escape. [Which is perfect irony that two episodes prior, Carol condemns the Wolves for burning people alive]

which is even more ironic considering what Carol did to two innocent but sick people that Tyreese loved back at the prison....she bruned them to a crisp. Carol is a murderer.

Korivex

Jesus said to Rick and the group "Negan is the leader of a group of people that he calls the saviors". It was said in the episode when we first went to Hilltop when Gregory got stabbed.

Tom

This is such a good ep. I don't agree with a lot of TWD fans mindset of "if we followed other groups, ours would be the villains". Our group doesn't kill because they want too, they kill to protect each other. We can see with the governor or the wolves etc, they get enjoyment out of it, it becomes more than just for necessity. I will always be team rick and crew!

Love this episode…. Great insights into Carol and Maggie’s minds and where they are. Carol is lethal and doesn’t seem to want to be. Maggie went full mama-bear mode!!! The actress who played Paula (the leader) also had an incredible single episode appearance in the Sopranos. Very talented im surprised I haven’t seen her in more roles.

Bill B.

Totally agree!!

Alex Walker

Finally caught up with you guys after taking a break from TWD. Happy to be back!

o.o

great things are coming

Carol is a full on psycho. Imagine a character who burns two people alive, then when joining a civilisation (Alexandria) goes full psychopath mode and COMPLETELY becomes a different person and acts as a nice and caring, timid person with PERFECT acting and no second thoughts about it. Her first thought is to kill and deceive even when it isn't necessary. That's Carol

Natalie-Anne

Poor carol is falling apart. She’s been through so much & isn’t liking who she’s become in such a short time 😢

I love this episode as a character study for Carol. I think it was a mix of an act and genuine, but it's totally up to the viewer's interpretation as to how much of a mix it is. If you recall, she used to be at least somewhat religious. When Sophia went missing in 2x01, and the group wound up at a church, Carol did pray for Sophia. My personal view is that her panic attack in this episode was genuine, and then, being as smart and quick as she is, USED her body's natural response to her advantage. Same way she used the rosary as nothing more than a prop and a tool, even though she may have used one to pray at some point in her life. Carol is perhaps the most resourceful person in this world. Her resources in this episode were herself and a rosary. And she used them, even if her only intention was to escape. Maggie helped her find the strength to kill a few more times despite having it weighing on her own conscience, too. But that's what our group does best--draws strength from each other to do what needs to be done.

This is a great episode that some don't like, but it's such a great character study of Carol and Maggie and the women they encounter. The fact the line of what is an act and what is Carol having more of an emotional break is so well portrayed by Melissa. She's so brilliant as Carol. She sums it up at the end when Daryl asks if she's okay and she says no. She knows she isn't. I'm curious how far ahead Spartan& Pudgey are right now, as I see this uncut was uploaded 5 days ago.

I think carol was truly incredibly stressed in this episode, but i don't think the behavior we saw is how carol normally would express stress/panic. its how she thinks they expect her to act so she plays the part.

LunarioVT

As per usual, great reaction Spartan and Pudgey.

Zane Platt

This season has some of the shows best episodes with this episode, the previous episode and the 9th.

Zane Platt

I agree but I also think that these episodes are here to show how fine the line is. I would argue as well that some of the group have acted villainous at times. Particularly when it came to how Rick and Carol acted at Alexandria initially. They literally planned to take the armory and control of a town that had let them in.

Zane Platt

The issue Carol is having is that her natural instinct has become to kill any threat (which is what Morgan's mindset had become before Eastman) and to do whatever it takes to keep her group alive. The issue with that mindset is the cost to your soul that it takes to live that way and how slippery a slope it is

Zane Platt

As a fun side note, this episode is written by Angela Kang who ends up running the show later on. She has a much better knack for dialogue and character interactions than Gimple (the showrunner at this point of the show) who excelled at action but struggled with dialogue and character interplay I particularly like how she writes Paula and the parable regarding the carrot, the egg and the coffee beans. You can either let your environment break you, let it harden you or you can change the environment yourself

Jack

It's almost here

Tom

I agree, it was harsh, but it was also a last resort. They didn't infiltrate Alexandria with the intention of taking over. They were hesitant, but no one was planning to do anything rash unless the Alexandrian's attacked first. Rick's saw the potential in Alexandria, and his mindset was, if they can't learn to keep this place standing, we will take over. They never planned to kill any residents (other than Pete for good reason) like previous villains have.

Ivan Rasmussen

Love your reactions and interested to see what you guys think of some of these upcoming episodes!

Gypsysoul

Angela Kang is the GOAT 🐐 🫶

ser harsher

good stuff, keep it coming !

Paul

You become the villain if you go down that road. You need to be extremely resilient and willing to kill real threats, but clearing everyone who exists because they might be, well that's what the Governor was.

Paul

Exactly. There's no parallel. Rick's group ARE the good guys. 100% ruthless, but never aggressive without cause, their violence is potent but used when they are attacked or threatened by other groups trying to take their stuff or kill them. Entirely justified. Rick's threat to take Alexandria was immoral, however, it was empty. He was pulled back by Carl before it ever came to that.
