2026-10-19 20:00 ppl hating on season 7 is weird, bc 7 and 8 are top notch. it starts to fall off at 9 but still decent. the last season is the meh one.

It's easy to miss but Ezekial and his men didn't stop Morgan because Gavin said "Leave them be" and then you can hear their guns click. So they basically couldn't really do anything but watch as they were held at gunpoint.

I love how Morgan and Carol's relationship has grown so much over the last season. Seeing Morgan regress back to his "clear" state briefly was tough, but I love how she tries to help him the way he helped her. Gavin is definitely one of the more interesting saviors to me. Comes off as the kind of guy who chose his position out of convenience but doesn't enjoy doing things Negan's way. Also, when it comes to Morgan killing Richard - I think he did it to send a message, but also because he was crashing out about Benjamin and genuinely wanted him dead. That's just how I interpreted it but the way he was looking at Richard during his speech was pretty menacing.

Josh M

Nice catch, never thought of this. I always thought Gavin was telling his own people to leave them be, though.

Doggo

its hard to hear, people often miss it, but when morgan is choking richard, gavin actually says "leave them be!" forcing everyone to stand back and watch

Zac

First people i've seen mention the symbolism of Carol's smoking.

Lakey29

the only season which is meh is the final season tbh yh seasons 9 and 10 werent as good as other ones but they are still good seaosns of tv glad to see you are still enjoying them

One thing I picked up on this episode watching this again: Richard's story is meant to mirror Morgan's. Lost his wife close to the start. Then watched his child die right in front of him because he didn't do what he was "supposed" to do. Very clever writing of Richard's character and the impact that he has on Morgan.

Tom

I've said this before, Season 7 is actually really good when you binge watch it. I think the issue with how it was released before, was we would get eps weekly, meaning we would see rick and crew in ep 1, but then not again until ep 4, then not again until ep 7, then suddenly its a 6 month wait for the second half. Binge watching at your own pace and being able to jump straight into the next episode after finishing one, is great for this season and really helps the pacing issues.

Tom

season 9 & 10 are better than 7 & 8 lol

Pushindazeez

I don't think it was that people found 7 boring, I think it was because the show became so depressing and bereft of any hope. or soul. There was no happiness anywhere in it. At least that's what it was for me and I found Negan to be more of a cartoonish character. I hated him (but love the actor). This is the first time I've rewatched this season and honestly, I think with time and watching your reactions have made it way, WAY more interesting than I initially found it and I appreciate that.

Pushindazeez

YES!!! It was so hard to spend that many months just wallowing in the grief and despair.

ShanB

The jerk face guy didn’t exactly change the rules when he killed someone other than the expected guy. Negan likes to kill the innocent one to spite the rebellious ones that lash out but Gavin didn’t expect him to kill the kid. He knew he had it out for the other guy. Morgan killing one of his own is drastic enough to quickly earn the saviors trust while sacrificing someone who wanted to die for the kingdom anyway and had obviously planned it out to die. I think Morgan decided he had to kill him also because he had become a threat to the group’s safety and he wasn’t sorry he did it so he’d likely do something like that again.

ShanB

Also everyone had to stand down and watch Morgan kill the guy because “Gavin said let them be” as soon as the scuffle started

Josh

I love Morgan but dam he pissed me off so many times like make up your mind man 😤

URxBREATHTAKING

People didn't find season 7 boring, it's literally in my top 3 seasons, there's just an online vocal group that can't cope with Glenns death till this day, the viewership of 7x1 was 15 million viewers and after Glenn died it was 7 million for 7x2, there's literally 50% of the audience that never even continued after 7x1 and didn't get to enjoy how good season 7 was, and half of the audience that did continue tried to drag down everyone else because they also can barely cope with Glenns death, you guys are more like me in thought process, Aussies are tough and can handle a defeat and get back on the horse unlike the 50% of American viewers who couldn't even face 7x2 lol

Paul

This confuses me greatly given how people moved on from Ned and Robb in Game of Thrones. I loved Glenn, don't get me wrong, but why would you abandon such a compelling story because one great character dies?

Paul

I agree that in no way is S7 boring. I don't find any season of TWD to be dull. Their styles and tones can shift, like here in S7 where we get more bottle episodes focusing on specific characters rather than always being on Rick and the main group. Perhaps that's why a lot of people felt it dragged on, especially when they were watching during the original weekly release schedule. I do get that perspective, because Rick is the OG of all OGs, as a character yes but Andrew Lincoln is truly what makes him perfect. Similar to Bryan Cranston in Breaking Bad, WW is a compelling character but truly elevated into Godhood by phenomenal acting. As to the ethics of resistance, if your group is being subjugated and forced to exist as slaves as they are in Negan's world order, let's say Negan's group wasn't unhinged at all, rarely ever murdered people. Would fighting back be wrong then? Because they might still sometimes retaliate to send a message. I think blaming Richard for Benjamin's death is shortsighted of Ezekiel and Morgan. Though I understand why, it's a burst of emotion lashing out at the nearest viable target. If they reserve hatred towards the only real targets, Negan and his henchmen, there's no release, no catharsis, at least not for a long time. Killing Richard also served to send the message he wanted sent, so it was easy to slip in, justify it as what he wanted. And I guess he did? He expected to die. He wanted The Kingdom to join the fight. And it looks like they will be.

Bill B.

Man this episode was so good, so much better than I remembered!!!!

Bill B.

Totally agree. I’m enjoying it so much more this time. Remember also the commercial breaks! And by the second commercial, it was like “well, I guess no Rick this week, have to wait til next Sunday…” or whichever character.

Tom

Yeah it was always such a shame. Seeing your favourite character & then realise you won’t see them again for like a month….

o.o

aint no way, the first half of 9 is a slog fest, and 10 is meh. Negans arc is best.

Tom

After the casting changes (you know the one) there is no point in watching. It becomes a different show. Just diversity slop. It's not that there aren't some good stories or themes, but it's just not for me. I don't care about any of them, with like 1 or 2 exceptions.

Ludus Aurea

This is one of my favorite episodes of the entire series and has two of the best performances in the show. Richard was only around like 4 episodes but his actor did a great job and he became of the best new season 7 characters. That scene where Morgan confronts him, Morgan’s nonverbal performance across from Richard’s monologue, A+. On top of that you have Ben’s death and that nexus point where Morgan and Carol were on opposite legs of the same journey and they swap ideologies was also great. Richard wasn’t a bad guy, but he made a stupid decision. There’s also that snapping scene where Morgan starts to crumble like you mentioned. Also the rat face prick is named Jared. He played basically the same guy in some movie, I think maybe a henchman in jumanji 3. Just wait.

DRIP DROP

The TWD haters are strong, whole show is a banger

Ludus Aurea

Eh 8 is fine other than the really dumb part. Season 10 is only good because of the 8 extra Covid episodes.

Ludus Aurea

He wasn’t even a great character. People are weird. Glenn stopped being relevant after like the 11th time they teased his death. He hadn’t done anything since the end of season 5 really. The real point of contention is next season and is an understandable reason why people would stop watching.

Ludus Aurea

You’re forgetting the actual fans who did keep watching because we knew Glenn died back in 2013.

o.o

Exactly!!! After said pivot, I really didn’t care. It felt like it went on just to go on, no real point.

Phillip Tilly

Bro I seen the whole series like 10 times and never caught that lol 🤦🏻‍♂️

Paul

Glenn was an awesome character from his spirit, he didn't have to do anything to be great. Similar to Dale.

Alan

Don't listen to those who say the season is bad; just enjoy the episodes.

Nathan Cutter

Walking dead is great, people were annoyed by the slower eps because we had to wait a week. Binge watching and you realise just how great it is

Victoria E (vickster5001)

Exactly this. On every rewatch I quite enjoy s7 (bar the trauma of that scene in ep1).

Pushindazeez

Excuse you? That is MY opinion and also the opinion of millions of others who lost interest during this season. It may not be YOUR opinion but that doesn't make it untrue.

Fuji

While I understand liking Richard, the guy isnt actually reliable. He was ready to die for his cause but I dont think he was ready to turn himself in and face the consequences of his actions. He already assumed that 1, He would be alive to keep fighting and 2, He would be the one leading the army and not Ezekial which to me is an eyebrow raise. I think Richard may be a good person at times but he is the kind of person that is prepared to do anything he deems necessary to accomplish his goal which can be very dangerous, he was willing to set up carol a seemingly defenseless woman to die and then himself. For all we know he'd be ready to kill Ezekial and Morgan, and takeover. Which I personally think would've been his plan and not turning himself in.
