Maybe its cause I've had loads of times to sit with and rewatch Twd, Carl's death didn't feel that bad personally for me, he made stupid decision after stupid decision since season 4, a good character but never felt a connection like a Gleen, Abraham, Shane, Dale and more. They should of stuck exactly to the comics, but aspects are still there. Defo some more quality between season 8-10, 11 is a mix bunch. Loved the reaction!

Killing carl was a massive mistake based on where his comics story goes, especially when it was just for shock value. But they got a new showrunner for season 9 and even though, admittedly, its been a while since I've seen it, I remember being pleasantly surprised by the quality of season 9 after the mid-ness of 7 and 8; I look back at 9 fondly. Its definitely worth continuing and watching at least season 9 in my opinion if you guys are on the fence.

That is a rumour, Chandler Riggs and Scott Gimple both made it clear. It was for the story of Negan... the reason Rick chooses the path he took. Chandler Riggs father was the one who started that rumour because he was upset about it and thought it was for that reason. TWD didn't hold back any expenses in this show.

It wasn't for 'shock value' it was to give Rick a reason to make the decisions that he made. What other reason could there be for Rick to do what he did?

Well I also heard Chandler bought a house in GA and put off college because he was told he was still going to be in future seasons and was shocked when he was told he was actually going to be killed off. Andrew Lincoln was also upset by this decision because really what’s the point of Rick if not to make a better future for Carl that was his whole purpose and the reason he was always fighting so hard for the perfect place. Rumor or not it was a dumb decision.

The Walking Dead was great, but from this point forward (Killing Carl), it was downhill for me. and Spartan said it right, convenient plot armors and "bad" writing (compared to S1-S5), I mean its still OK to watch but its definitely not the GOATED show it was.

Killing Carl made around 2 million people turned away from the show. I was fuming but still watching. My husband and I gave up in the middle of Season 10. I got back to the show about a month ago to finally get through with it and oh my God, what a drag... Today I'm watching the last episode and I will be finally done with it.

The thing is - a few episodes earlier Carl went to the Sanctuary on a suicide mission to kil Negan. And all of the sudden he turns into one of versions of Morgan - all life is precious. Please... That's just bad writiing.

I have never liked Carl but when he died I felt the emptiness after he was out. I stopped watching in the middle of Season 10, it was just too boring. 2 months ago I decided to finally watch those seasons I didn't remember (8,9) and watch 10 and 11. And honestly, there was only one brilliant episode in 8-9-10-11. Few good ones, few great, most of them? Nah. But I watched it so fans of the show can't argue with me anymore by saying "You didn't watch all of it, so shut up".

Terrible opinion. Like the source material was some beloved treasure. It wasnt. Stop rewriting history. Carls actor did get better, but the kid was a liability. Season 9 proves you wrong. Im currently rewatching season 9 on Lachys channel, and its even better than I remember. The shakeup in cast and showrunners really really helped.

Gets better after this season. Season 9 is absolutely one of the best seasons, introducing the best villain. But I won't be holding out hope that this channel and its fans view it favorably.

Im sorry your fan fiction you had in your head didnt materialize onscreen, but thats for the best. Im glad they killed Carl in the show. Who the fuck wants to watch boring ass stories where the good guys always win? Same thing with GOT fans who think Jon Snow should have been king and saved the world. I didn't say "They didn't meet my fan fiction", cause I didn't have any. I was watching the show as it went. For you it's a peak TV, for me it wasn't (I loved seasons 1-6, then it started to drag a bit, 9 was ok). I like GOT, was disappointed with seasons 7-8 but not because it didn't meet my ideas, I didn't think that John should be the king - I was only asking "So what happened with the big secret of his true parents, why it didn't impact the story at all?". I shrugged. It's only a TV show. Not anything my life depend on. And not something I'm going to argue with someone who has a different opinion. We can disagree, that's fine :)

It gets even worse from here!! The biggest issues in the show becomes infighting, simply because of lack of communication! Literally one sentence would fix most of the upcoming problems but instead they decide to practically character assissnate every single character arc just to create turmoil.... The last season fixes it up a bit but man does this series go through the mud for a bit after this 🫣😮‍💨

I don't understand why Spartan keep asking about amount of soldiers. It just always works like that - Negan just had THAT much people in the main building and that's it, I don't understand why asking it repeatedly that much, I mean all shows and films have some conventions and conceits

I have heard that rumor, not so long ago I came across another one and it may be some truth to it (to both, one doesn't exclude the other). Carl's death was meant for Morgan - the problem was that at some point writers realized that he wasn't close enough to Rick to make him view the world as "all life is precious". So they changed Morgan's philosophy and gave it to Carl when the season 8 started. This way they had that impact on Rick ("all life is precious") and could get rid off Chandler without the need to pay him more. Like I said, it's just a theory I have heard while listening to one of many essays on the topic and I think it's plausible.

Brother, stop acting like it is an uncommon opinion to dislike Jadis lol. It's pretty known that Jadis is quite hated by many people that watch at this point in the show. Her being somewhat interesting does not absolve her from the shitty things they did to Rick and the group. Keeping in mind that she is not even that interesting of a character to begin with. If you like her then that's cool but realize that you are in the minority here.

Honestly TWD was pretty steadily downhill after the second season. Losing Frank D was the actual worst thing that ever happened to TWD
