Haven't finished watching yet but it seems y'all missed a few episodes ago that the "plan" is that they can spare the bullets because Eugene can make them more later. He hasn't made any for them yet, he just promised he could replenish their supply after they used them on all the walkers.

writing was too inconsistent and back and forth this season....from some people being gung-ho to kill and get revenge then suddenly having an epiphany and getting all sappy or wishy washy about vengeance and such...and it's multiple characters and it's all a bit sudden...and it's all set up in such a way for one reason, which I feel...and I wont say it at the moment.

They went over the basis for the plan in 8x7 Negan could have mowed down the horde at any time but he would have to waste most of the Savior's ammo. The idea is that now they use all the ammow mowing down the horde. Then Eugene will make new bullets for them. Remember when Eugene said itll work "if you get me to the machines or you get the machines to me". So now that theyve wasted all that ammo Eugene has to replace it.

Killing off Carl was such an unnecessary mistake. The entire story was Carl's story and how he grew and adapted to this world. It was also really the only reason Rick had to keep going, he was trying to make a better world for Carl all this time, that was his main motivation. Yes, there was Judith but Carl was HIS boy. I was so mad at Scott Gimple, the show runner, for all the damage he did to this show.

I still vehemently disagree with the writing decision to kill Carl, but I'll admit this episode really got me choked up and they did a beautiful job of weaving Henry's actions with Carl's talk with Rick. I can't imagine being in Rick's position and having to move forward IN THE MIDDLE OF A WAR knowing your son who you hustled day after day to protect has died. Also, Gavin was such an interesting savior. I was kind of hoping he'd turn a corner and live.

Yeah it's so obvious that they decided to kill Carl very late into writing the season. In S7 he was willing to risk it all to assassinate Negan.. Now he's a pacifist. Definitely convenient.

Yea, all season we've had a few different timelines going. The close up of rick with puffy eyes sweating is actually from the season finale. The weird sequences with everyone happy with the heavenly glow are Carl's dream like you said. Then there's the grave digging. Most of the daylight shots are from right before or during Episode 8, then you've got the Carl shots from the Siddiq scene. This episode is extremely tedious on a rewatch. It's easier to just go yea ok Carl's dead, let's skip back to the cool parts. Almost turned it off 2 or 3 times, the literal 2 seconds of Kingdom and then immediate cut back to Alexandria until they resolved the Kingdom plot line and switched back to Alexandria for the rest of the episode are QUITE annoying.

This episode is one of the best in the series and yet it's one of the most upsetting episodes of television I've ever watched. I cry every time. The performances are superb. I really wish they hadn't chosen this route, but I'm at least grateful it was a beautiful exit for such a special character.

I stopped watching the show after the last episode. As stupid as it sounds, I was already pretty annoyed when they killed Shiva lol. Then, after finding out Carl was bitten and was going to die, I was out. To be fair, I had other things going on in my life (just started college etc) and was pretty busy at the time. Have seen bits and pieces of this episode but never watched it in it's entirety. If I continue watching with you guys this will be the first time I've seen beyond this point in the show lol.

Dude why do you always sound so personally offended when people have criticisms of the show? This is a classic problem with TWD's writing and Carl is like the most egregious example.
